Carscassonne France
Carcassonne, Occitaans: Carcassona, is een vestingstad in Frankrijk. Het ligt in de regio Occitanie op 90 km ten zuidoosten van Toulouse, globaal tussen de Pyreneeën en de Montagne Noire. De stad ligt aan beide kanten van de rivier de Aude en ook het Canal du Midi gaat door de stad. De stad heeft door zijn centrale ligging een belangrijke regionale marktfunctie. Belangrijkste werkgevers zijn de overheid, dienstensector, detailhandel en toerisme. In de gemeente ligt spoorwegstation Carcassonne.
Het is na Parijs en de Mont-Saint-Michel de grootste toeristische trekpleister van Frankrijk. De bekendste bezienswaardigheid is de volledig gerestaureerde versterkte oude binnenstad, La Cité de Carcassonne. Deze Ville fortifiée historique de Carcassonne staat sinds 1997 op de werelderfgoedlijst van de UNESCO.[1] Het is het mooiste voorbeeld van een middeleeuwse stad in Europa, die bijna volledig is bewaard, en de grootste behouden vesting uit de middeleeuwen.
Het eigenlijke stadscentrum, waar ook het stadhuis ligt, is de Ville Basse, de benedenstad, of Bastide St. Louis. Deze is in de 13e eeuw als toevluchtsoord voor bewoners gebouwd van de buurten die vroeger rond de Cité waren gebouwd en die volledig werden gesloopt. Twee bruggen over de Aude verbinden de oude Cité en de nieuwe stad met elkaar, genaamd de Pont Vieux en de Pont Marengo

This is built in the 13th century as a refuge for residents of the neighborhoods that used to be around the Cité had been built and which were completely demolished. De Lourdesreis
In september hebben 40 volwassenen en begeleiders deelgenomen aan een reis naar Lourdes. Een jaarlijks terugkerende activiteit voor mensen met een beperking. Deze keer ging de reis niet met de trein maar met de bus. Omdat de deelnemers zelf vaak niet de financiële middelen hebben om de reis te bekostigen ondersteunt de Stichting Aktie 68 hun hierbij met gelden die ze verkrijgen uit de kleding- en schoeisel-inzamelacties.

Op ontdekkingstocht in Tarn, Frankrijk. De oude stad Albi, aan de oevers van de Tarn, is een hoogtepunt van middeleeuwse architectuur. Het staat hierom ook op de UNESCO-Werelderfgoedlijst. Al snel merk ik dat het heerlijk rondstruinen is door de middeleeuwse straatjes, steegjes en pleinen. De bekende schilder Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec werd in 1864 geboren in deze stad en in het voormalig bisschoppelijk paleis vind je het Musée Toulouse-Lautrec met een groot deel van zijn werken. Bijzonder is de Oude Brug (Pont-Vieux) uit de 11e eeuw, maar voor veel mensen is het hoogtepunt van de stad toch wel de Sainte-Cécile kathedraal van Albi. Ik geef ze geen ongelijk.
