We took a day trip from the Twin Cities up to Palisade Head and Tettegouche State Park - about a 3 and a half hour drive. Join us as we drive up I-35 to Duluth and then along the North Shore of Lake Superior. Filmed on a GoPro Hero3+ Silver.

The Palisade Head by drone
This is a video I made of the Pallisade head by drone in Silver, Bay, my absolute favorite city in Minnesota. It is part of my favorite state park, Tettegouche. At the highest point the cliffs are 300ft. Because of its beauty and the sheerness of the cliffs, the it is rock climbing mecca for people all over the world. If you have not been there, and seen this view, and consider yourself a Minnesotan, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Minnesota North Shore: Tettegouche, Shovel Point, Palisade Head and Cascade River - Day 1 and 2
My daughter and I took a trip up the North Shore of Minnesota. We stayed the first day in Tettegouche and followed up with Cascade. We like staying at the State Parks and there is SO much to see. We saw Tettegouche, Shovel Point, Palisade Head, Cascade River and so much more along the way.
I do apologize for some of the sound, but water is noisy :) I tried to smooth things for you; but didn't want to lose it completely.
If you want a really good guide, you can check out this book. It really does a great job of leading you along to help see all you can.

Pallisade Head, Burrr!
Palisade Head is a large rock formation on the North Shore of Lake Superior in the state of Minnesota. It is within Tettegouche State Park, and is located at milepost 57 on scenic Minnesota State Highway 61...approximately 54 miles (86 km) northeast of Duluth and three miles (five km) east of Silver Bay. Palisade Head is one of the most beautiful and awe inspiring places to visit on Lake Superior's North Shore.

Tettegouche State Park - MN - December 2019
We revisited Tettegouche State Park to see a different cart in Site. Originally we were going to hike and stay on the SHT near Oberg Mountain but the temperature and daylight were dropping fast. Oberg Mountain is near Lutsen and the trail is well groomed. For Skiing or snowshoeing if you prefer.
Most trails surrounding the SHT will be groomed, but as you hike further in you will find that the SHT itself is not well traveled. We decided to be safe and not push our luck with negative temperatures and just hike into a cart in site.
The Cart In Sites started off on a snowmobile trail for a little bit and then were just deep snow. Luckily we had snow shoes. Our favorite site from earlier in the year has been destroyed by the waves and the wind blowing ice and snow over the trees. So much destruction we barely recognized it. We were warned not to stay there as the wind can pick up at anytime and spray water from the lake over the site.
Overall the trip was a success, despite the bone chilling cold. We were hoping to have a warm weekend, seems like we picked the only cold weekend of December for this trip sadly.
After sleeping outside every month for three years I decided I am going take a little break. I will still make videos of my adventures scouting new parks and camping. Just may not go out in the cold as much. Need to play it safe, I want to keep all ten fingers and ten toes.
