Park City Pow Day
Got some pow overnight in Park City
Park City Mountain Resort is a ski resort in the western United States in Park City, Utah, located 32 miles (51 km) east of Salt Lake City. Opened in 1963, the resort has been a major tourist attraction for skiers from all over the United States, as well as a main employer for many of Park City's citizens. Park City, as the ski resort and area is known, contains several training courses for the U.S. Ski Team, including slalom and giant slalom runs. During the 2002 Winter Olympics the resort hosted the snowboarding events and the men's and women's alpine giant slalom events. The resort was purchased by Vail Resorts in 2014 and combined the resort with neighboring Canyons Resort via an interconnect gondola to create the largest ski area in the United States at the time.[1] It has since been surpassed by Powder Mountain in 2016.
During the ski season, most slopes and lifts are open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm with some runs open later for night skiing.
Park City is one of the featured mountains in the video game Shaun White Snowboarding for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

PARK CITY - USA Travel Guide | Around The World
Park City is a year-round resort town located on the Eastern side of the Wasatch Mountains, part of the Rocky Mountain Range in Utah. Altitude in town ranges from 6,720 to 9,990 ft. above sea level. The surrounding Wasatch Mountain rise over 10,000 ft. Probably best known for its skiing and winter season with two world-class ski resorts- Park City Mountain and Deer Valley Resort - as well as hosting the annual Sundance Film Festival.
Park City is a wonderful place to visit throughout the year with fabulous dining and recreation options.
Long before Park City became a world class mountain resort and venue for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, it was famous as a silver mining town, and boasts a lively and colorful past. Founded by prospectors in the late 1860's, Park City continued to mine silver until the early 1970's.
From approximately 1850, when small settlements were forming, until the railroad lines were laid throughout the West in the 1890s, stagecoach travel was the main form of transportation. There was even a stagecoach business in Park City! William Kimball, a Park City resident, started his stagecoach business in 1858 competing with Brigham Young for United States mail contracts. He was sent to England on a Mormon Church mission and when he returned, he started the Park City-Salt Lake City Route. The Kimball Brothers Stage Line operated from 1872 until 1890, when the railroad made its way into the West. Moving quicker as well as transporting more people and mail, the railroad easily put the stagecoach out of business.
Between 1880 and 1920 when Park City mines were the most organized, productive and active, they produced more than 20 million tons of ore including lead, zinc, copper, silver, and a small amount of gold. These were the years of Park City's mining renaissance. The mining company, Park City Consolidated Mines, started the ski business in 1963, when they built the first lifts on what was then called Treasure Mountain. The Park City area now has three world class resorts: Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley Resort, and the Canyons Resort.
In 2002 Park City was a major host site for the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. 175 city volunteers contributed more than 6000 hours to the Games, or the equivalent of 750 workdays (and this doesn't even count the public safety volunteers).
Travel Planning, the visitor bureau's website is an excellent resource for researching the destination. From checking lodging availability, to events, activities, and current deals.
Visitor Centers: There are two visitor information centers in town. The main visitor center is located just off I-80, 1794 Olympic Parkway, Park City, UT 84098. In addition to getting staff recommendations, exclusive offers, and free wi-fi you can grab a cup of coffee and light meal. A visitor information desk is located at 528 Main Street in the Park City Museum.
The Salt Lake City International Airport is just 36 miles from Park City via interstate I-80. There are numerous transportation companies that pick-up in the baggage claim area and drop you at your desired destination or hotel. If you choose to rent a car, Park City is a short 30-45 minute drive East on Interstate 80 runs through Parley's Canyon. Take the Kimball Junction Exit 145 onto SR-224.
The Park City area has three world class resorts: Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley Resort, and the Canyons Resort. The winter offers great opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, snowmobiling, sleigh rides, tubing, shopping and dining. Summer activities include hiking, mountain biking, road biking, horseback riding, golfing, shopping and dining.
There is a lot of fun activities to do out in Park City. There is the Park City Resort, which has really fun slides. Almost like a roller coaster, but better! Also, over at Olympic Park, they have slides, zip lining, and rock climbing.
The best place to get good food, and great views is Deer Valley. As far as food goes, Main Street is the place to be. Good restaurants include, River Horse, Prime Steakhouse, and Grappa. All are fairly expensive, but if you want five star food, and five star service, you must pick one of the three.
Expect hotel prices to be 2-3 times higher during ski season; shop around for bargains from June through September. During Sundance expect every hotel within thirty miles of town to be booked, so make plan far in advance. If visiting in the summer be aware that ski lodges and condo units will be operating with significantly less staff, meaning that you may be picking up your key from a lockbox rather than the front desk and may not be able to quickly resolve any problems with your room; hotels will not have this problem.
