Our visit Venice travel guide covers some of the top attractions including a food guide to local Italian food, top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day and by night including visiting cathedrals, canals, ruins and islands. We cover activities you won't find in a typical Venice tourism brochure, Venice itinerary or Venice, Italy city tour also known as Venezia Italia.
20 Things to do in Venice, Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript: (VENEZIA ITALIA):
We’re taking you on a whirlwind tour of Venice in winter visiting the famed Floating City. Join us as we show you the best things to see, do and eat in Venice.
The Vaporetto is Venice’s water bus service. The standard ticket is 7.50 Euros and valid for 60 minutes, the 1 day pass is 20 Euros and valid for 24 hours.
The most visited attraction in Venice: Piazza San Marco where there is quite a bit to see and do around the square beginning with St Mark’s Basilica.
St Mark’s Campanile, a tall brick bell tower was once used by approaching ships as a beacon to guide them home where you get great views of the city.
Then you have the Doge’s Palace, which was the residence of the Doge of Venice, the ruler of the former Republic of Venice built in the Venetian Gothic style.
Don't forget the Bridge of SIghs, whose name refers to the sighs of prisoners who would get their last glimpse of Venice as they were led from Doge's Palace to their cells.
Across to the other side of the Grand Canal, you have the Basilica of Saint Mary of Health and the Galleria dell’Accademia in case you’re in the mood for art.
A restaurant we really enjoyed La Zucca - a place where all the dishes are made with pumpkin! The Rialto Market specializes in produce and fresh seafood for self-catering.
Let’s talk about island hopping in Venice:
Founded in the 5th century, Torcello is even older than Venice and was the original settlement in the Venetian Lagoon with lots of walking paths, nature and Byzantine mosaics.
Burano is known for its lace work and brightly coloured homes with plenty of restaurants, cafes and shops to browse.
Mazzorbo island sits next to Burano and is connected by a bridge while being known for its vineyards and orchards.
Murano is renowned for its glass production dating back to 1291 when the glassmakers in Venice were forced to relocate by the Venetian government.
Lido is an 11-kilometre sandbar island that shelters the lagoon from the Adriatic Sea with beaches, lots of seaside homes, and this is also where the Venice Film Festival takes place.
A restaurant we liked in Venice is Osteria Mocenigo specializing in local cuisine. Try the “Sarde in saor” - a typical Venetian dish made with sardines.
While your vaporetto pass is valid ride the canals at night and watch the Floating City come to life.
We hope you enjoyed this Venice travel guide and that it gave you a few ideas for your own trip.
This is part of our Travel in Venice video series showcasing Venetian food, Venetian culture and Venetian cuisine.

ALMOST DISASTROUS HIKE IN THE DOLOMITES (can’t believe this is Italy)
Best Venice day trip! We decided to drive to the Dolomites for a day in the mountains of Italy since we had never been before. It turned into a huge adventure for multiple reasons. If you go, don't bring only 1 bottle of water for 4 people, maybe don't take the sketchy trail we took at the end, andddd don't leave any valuables at the very top ;) ✈️ We created FareDrop to help you score super cheap international flights! Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Venice, Italy: A Boat Tour of the Lagoon
More info about travel to Venice: Surrounding Venice are a string of low-lying islands, which make a nice escape from the hubbub — especially if you can linger after the tourists return to the city. Regular ferryboats and water taxis connect Venice with nearby lagoon communities like Murano, famous for glass, and Burano, with its lace shops and photogenic Crayola-colored houses.

Comacchio - the little Venice| Family Fun Trip Lagoon Town Highlights | Italy 2016 | Kate Claudia✔
Comacchio - the little Venice | Family Fun Trip Lagoon Town Highlights | Italy 2016 | Kate Claudia
***********
Where it is:
3 km from the northern coast of Emilia-Romagna in the Po Delta, 50 km from Ferrara, 35 km from Ravenna, 110 km from Venice.
***********
Why visit:
Comacchio, the little Venice, is an enchanting lagoon town: it's neat and unfeigned, endowed with a vitality that comes from a strong respect for its own history and for the environment that surrounds it. The limpid brightness of the light reminds us that we are close to the sea here, and this light goes on to flood the town, only to be increased by the calm surfaces of the canals. A treasure chest of particular natural beauty and reminders of its history, Comacchio, now known as the capital of the Po Delta Park, is a little town that was born and still lives between the land and the water.
Its seven beaches are an ideal destination for spending a holiday with family or friends, or for a relaxing weekend resting in the sun or partying through the lively lido nights.
***********
Where to visit and what to see
The best period for visiting Comacchio runs from April to mid-October. In particular, for those who love the tastes of the sea, the first two weekends of October host a food festival based on the eel, with tastings and shows in the street.
The best views in town are from the Ponte degli Sbirri: on one side the historic Ospedale degli Infermi and on the other the 19th century Palazzo Bellini and the famous Trepponti, the symbol of Comacchio.
From the Loggiato dei Cappuccini, which leads to the church of Santa Maria in Aula Regia, you can access the historic Manifattura dei Marinati, the pickling works, completely restored into full working order; visit the “Sala dei fuochi” with its 12 stoves, where the eels are roasted on spits before being marinated. The graceful 17th century Fish Market attests to more seaborne activity, and it still sells the daily catch.
Important historic buildings also include the ancient Cathedral of San Cassiano, the Loggia del Grano, and the Clock Tower.
For lovers of archaeology, the rare and extensive finds from a ship that ran aground not far from the town in the time of Augustus Caesar are housed at the Roman Ship Museum in Palazzo Bellini.
In the late afternoon, when the sunset paints extraordinary colours, the nature reserve of the Comacchio lagoons - south of the old town - is a fascinating environment. A trip into history by motorboat allows you to feel the atmosphere of the lagoon with its 'casoni' (fishing huts) and 'tabarre' (stores/workshops), the fishing equipment, and marvellous vegetation. Bird watching is a particularly attractive activity here.
***********
Don't miss:
You mustn't leave without having walked along the loggia, the Loggiato dei Cappuccini, the longest in Italy, or without making a trip by boat or bike into the Comacchio lagoon.
This town on the water can also be visited by boat, more specifically with the traditional “batane”: a free service is offered by volunteers whose moorings are around the Trepponti.

Merano Italy Travel Guide - Life In Italy Vlog
In this Merano Italy travel guide, we go around the town where I've called home for the past 2 years of my life in Italy. Merano otherwise known as Meran in the region of Alto Adige (Südtirol/South Tyrol) Is a picturesque small city situated in the Alps just a hop skip and a jump away from Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. In this video we'll go all around town form the Merano Train Station (Stazione Merano/Banhoff Meran) all the way to the center of town and into the old town, and up above Merano onto the Tappeiner Promenade (Passeggiata Tappeiner/Tappeinerweg).
Life in Italy and living in Italy have been quite the adventure and in this Friday night's video I take you all along with me on the adventure and search for the right gift for a friend who has helped me with taking care of a big piece of the puzzle when it comes to my upcoming move in Italy.

8 ORE A VENEZIA ⏰ [ENG subs]
Venezia in 8 ore?

The most beautiful village in Italy - Santa Maddalena, Tirol Dolomites
We decided to knockoff a few months in a very unusual place for digital nomads. While most rub shoulders (and who knows what else) among countless other nomads all over S.E. Asia, we elected to to venture off in complete disconnect 'bliss': the Italian/Austrian border, in the Tyrol region of northern Italy.

Video footage recorded using my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone. I know. Embarrassing. Not to worry, significant improvements in gear, and editing will come in later videos.
About Us:
I'm PJ. My partner, inspiration, trainer, chef, and moral compass, Risa, are what we (reluctantly) refer to as, digital nomads. I say, reluctantly, as I've been living the digital nomad lifestyle for about 15 years now (long before the term was coined, and became the cheesy trend it is today. It seems that everyone these days on vacation with a laptop, a pina colada next to them, Avicii on their headphones, and a dozen memory sticks filled with selfies now considers themselves a (don't forget the hashtag) digital nomad.
I started out at age 19. I quit my job at the time, to focus on the then still relatively unknown arbitrage business model as applied on eBay. Long story short, I saw an opportunity, invested all I had in it (time + money) and by my early 20s, I no longer had any interest in returning to Canada (where I grew up). I bounced mostly around Asia, for many years (all the usual nomad hotspots: Thailand, Vietnam, S. Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, with a preference for Japan (lived all over Japan, from Tokyo, to the most remote Japanese islands in the Pacific).
In late 2013, one of my returns to Tokyo, I met a captivating young woman, Risa, who helped me to re-calibrate my high-flyin', rock-star lifestyle and regain focus. Within a few months of meeting, she elected to quit her job in Tokyo and joined me on this nomadic journey. This channel, will document our perpetual traveller lifestyle. It's not always easy, it's not always fun. There are highs and lows. Sometimes money is very tight, other times it seems like it's the least of our worries. But when done right, the digital nomad lifestyle is a journey unlike any other.
Over the last few years, we generally stay off the beaten path and instead venture into areas seldom spoken about in digital nomad circles. You won't see us visiting Bali, Saigon, or Bangkok. Been there, got the SIM card, and still feel a bit hungover.
As we travel, we focus on personal growth, on disconnecting, unlearning, and thus thriving. We attempt to engage in philanthropy when we can. We respect the cultures kind enough to allow us to visit their land and their homes.
Feel free to send us feedback, comments, suggestions. Thank you for taking an interest in our journey. More videos of exotic places, stories, and people, will be uploaded weekly. As a demonstration of my gratitude to you for taking an interest in us, I will continue improving the quality of the content I create for you on a regular basis.

Assisi and Italian Country Charm
Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide | Check your local public television station for this Rick Steves’ Europe episode or watch it on In the Italian countryside, we'll connect with rustic, traditional culture: enjoying an agriturismo (farmhouse inn), seeing how prosciutto and pecorino cheese are made, and hiking to the bottom of deep and ancient wine cellars. We'll end in Assisi — the hometown of St. Francis — which retains its spiritual aura to this day. Like pilgrims, we'll explore its stony center before trekking to its awe-inspiring basilica, built on the tomb of the beloved saint.
