French Food in Cannes
Cannes, a resort town on the French Riviera, is famed for its international film festival. Its Boulevard de la Croisette, curving along the coast, is lined with sandy beaches, upmarket boutiques and palatial hotels. It’s also home to the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, a modern building complete with red carpet and Allée des Étoiles – Cannes’ walk of fame.
Cannes has a Mediterranean climate and the city enjoys 11 hours of sunshine per day during summer (July), while in winter (December to February) the weather is mild. Both seasons see a relatively low rainfall and most rain occurs during October and November, when 110 mm (4.3 in) falls.
Cannes summers are long and warm, with summer daytime temperatures regularly hitting 30 °C (86 °F), while average temperatures are about 25 °C (77 °F). Temperatures remain high from June to September, the busiest time of the year.
Mean temperatures drop below 10 °C (50 °F) for only three months of the year (December to February). The spring and autumn are also warm, although more suited to those who prefer slightly cooler weather.
The Promenade de la Croisette is the waterfront avenue with palm trees. La Croisette is known for picturesque beaches, restaurants, cafés and boutiques. Le Suquet, the old town, provides a good view of La Croisette. The fortified tower and Chapel of St Anne house the Musée de la Castre. A distinctive building in Cannes is the Russian Orthodox church.
The Musée d'Art et d'Histoire de Provence houses artifacts from prehistoric to present, in an 18th-century mansion. The Musée de la Castre has objects from the Pacific Atolls, Peruvian relics and Mayan pottery. Other venues include the Musée de la Marine, Musée de la Mer, Musée de la Photographie and Musée International de la Parfumerie.

Le Petit Train à Juan les Pins - Antibes, The Little Train

Cannes Travel Guide: Vacation in Cannes and Your Next Holiday Destination
Cannes is one of the most popular cities on the French Riviera, and carries a reputation of glitz and glamour. Cannes is most known for hosting the annual Cannes Film festival as well as the Cannes Lions Festival. Every year, the city attracts many of the world's celebrities, who have the city as their favorite summer hideout place.
Cannes offers a number of luxury hotels and restaurants, and has become a popular summer resort
Unlike most other cities on the French Riviera, there's always something going on in Cannes. The city is full of life all year around, but it is especially in the months of July and August when the streets get crowded, and people come from all over the world to experience the wonderful atmosphere of Cannes, and discover the reason why so many have Cannes as their favorite city on the Riviera.
During the summer, luxury cars crowd the streets of Cannes, especially along the seaside street, the Boulevard de la Croisette.
The Promenade de la Croisette is the waterfront avenue in Cannes, lined with palm trees. The Croisette us unarguably the most iconic landmark of Cannes, most known for its beautiful seaside promenade, its restaurants, cafés, popular beaches, and maybe most importantly, luxury shops from most designer brands you can think of.
Today, it may seem unlikely that Cannes was originally just a small fishing village, but it was in the early-mid 19th century that Cannes began developing into what it is today, as the British aristocracy started spending time here due to the pleasant climate.
Le Suquet
If you want to experience a more authentic side of Cannes, you can visit the old district of Cannes by the name of Le Suquet. The old town of Cannes is a part of the city which shows a different personality of what you may associate Cannes with. The old town of Cannes is the original fisherman’s’ residential area of Cannes. The houses belonging to the fishermen, the majority of which are still standing today in the narrow streets are more than hundred years old. In 1088, the Château de la Castre is the main attraction that draws tourists to the old town today. The area around the Château de la Castre is the oldest part of the old town in Cannes, and on the hill, you'll also find the watchtower which you can see from the harbor and even from the festival place.
Taking the petit train to the top of Le Suquet hill is a popular activity among tourists, and once on the top, you can admire the stunning views over Cannes. The petit train departs from the Croisette, close by the Place De Festival.
If you don't mind walking, you'll be able to see the beautiful narrow streets and the picturesque houses on the way up.
Shopping
Cannes is unarguably the go-to city for shopping on the French Riviera, with countless stores for every taste - from luxurious designer brands to traditional French shops.
On the Boulevard de la Croisette, you'll find the most luxurious stores, but the main shopping street is Rue d'Antibes. Here, you'll find more affordable stores which carries everything you may need. Rue d’Antibes runs parallel to La Croisette, and this shopping street is simply a must-visit when you are in Cannes.
Cannes Croisette beach
Cannes is one of the most popular beach towns on the French Riviera, mainly due to the fact that Cannes has sandy beaches, unlike most others which have pebbles. During the high season, the beach is packed. Depending on your budget, you can choose between free public beaches, or private beaches where you have to rent a sunbed. The mainland coastline of Cannes is 7.5 kilometers, and is lined with plenty of incredible restaurants, cafés, and most importantly, sandy beaches.
FORVILLE MARKET
The most iconic shopping in Cannes takes place in the Forville market. If you're looking to experience a traditional French market with locally produced provencal products, this is the place to go.
The market was pedestrianized in 2012 and is situated close to the Croisette and by the foot of Le Suquet. It is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 7am–1pm, and is closed on Mondays. The Forville market truly is the best way to experience a more local and authentic side of Cannes, and in addition to that, it is the best place to find fresh vegetables and fruit.
Cannes is a city which offers something for everyone. From Michelin-starred restaurants to a day on the beach, to run along the beautiful coastline, or perhaps enjoying a cocktail on one of the rooftops along the Boulevard de la Croisette.
When will you visit to experience everything that Cannes has to offer?
