Places to see in ( Naples - Italy ) Piazza del Gesu Nuovo
Piazza del Gesù Nuovo is one of the most important, famous and symbolic squares of the historic center of Naples . The square, which owes its name to the church of the same name , is located on the lower decumano and its central position with respect to the historic city center places it a few steps away from other important historical sites, such as via Toledo and piazza Dante , piazza Monteoliveto . piazza San Domenico Maggiore .
Given its architectural and structural complexity, the square is not accessible by any means of locomotion, either public or private, and constitutes an entirely pedestrian area. Moreover, on the façade of the Gesù Nuovo Church , the UNESCO plaque is affixed with the motivation for which the historic center of Naples has become a World Heritage Site
The square, the fulcrum of some of the most important monuments of Naples, revolves around the monumental obelisk of the Immaculate , majestic spire of white marble and bardiglio placed in the middle of the esplanade.
On the west side, there are some historic noble palaces of late baroque style , such as the Pandola palace and the Pignatelli di Monteleone palace . On the opposite side of them, on the other side of the road, there is an important complex of medieval architecture, the Clarisse church .
Opposite and to the side respectively rise two of the most important churches in the city: the church of Gesù Nuovo and the Monastery of Santa Chiara . The first, built on what was the Sanseverino palace , has in its fifteenth-century façade with diamond-studded ashlar-stone in the most typical example of Neapolitan baroque . The second, which instead represents the largest Gothic style church in the city, has the official burial place of the Bourbons , where the sovereigns of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies rest , from Ferdinand to Francis II.
On the sides of the church of the Gesù Nuovo, there are two other monumental buildings, now become high schools, the Congregations building , which became Genovesi high school and the Professa palace , today Eleonora Pimentel Fonseca high school.

Gesù Nuovo is the name of a church and a square in Naples, Italy. They are located just outside the western boundary of the historic center of the city. To the southeast of the spire, one can see a block away the Fountain of Monteoliveto and the piazza of the church of Sant'Anna dei Lombardi. The square is a result of the expansion of the city to the west beginning in the early 16th century under the rule of Spanish viceroy Pedro Alvarez de Toledo. The square of Gesù Nuovo contains three prominent landmarks:
The Church of Gesù Nuovo
The Church of Santa Chiara
The spire or guglia of the Immaculate Virgin
The Church of Gesù Nuovo was originally a palace built in 1470 for Roberto Sanseverino, Prince of Salerno. The Jesuits had already built a church with this name in Naples, now called Gesú Vecchio. Political intrigues by the Sanseverino family caused the property to be confiscated, and eventually sold in the 1580s to the Jesuits for 45,000 ducats to construct a church (1584–1601) under architect Giuseppe Valeriano. The construction was also helped by local support including that of Roberta Carafa, Countess of Maddaloni. The adjacent gardens of Isabella Feltria, Principessa di Bisignano were also included in the construction. Construction of the church began in 1584. The new church retained the unusual facade, originally built for the palace, faced with rustic ashlar diamond projections.
The Church of Santa Chiara is a Gothic style church-convent built between 1310 and 1328 for the wife of Robert, King of Naples. It has a belfry that stands within the grounds at the northeast corner. The complex retains the citadel-like walls setting it apart from the outside world.
The Guglia dell'Immacolata is a monument that stands in the square in front of the church of Gesù Nuovo. It is the tallest and most ornamental of three such plague columns in Naples. Putatively, it was built to invoke the Virgin Mary's protection from the plague. Begun in the 17th century, it was completed only in 1750 after decades of pauses in construction.

Naples, Italy Christmas Market Walking Tour 4K/60fps
Filmed on December 8th, 2018 at 2:40 pm, this walk begins at the Piazza del Gesu Nuovo and continues through all the Christmas markets lining the sides of Spaccanapoli, the Naples Splitter. December 8th is an Italian public holiday called the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. It also marks the first day of the Christmas season when Italians go out to buy their trees and nativity scenes. This year, it fell on a Saturday and the streets are incredibly crowded. This walk is a little slow at times because of the crowds, but take the time to absorb the Italian life surrounding you as you stroll through the narrow streets filled with the locals enjoying their day out together.

Adeyto ???????? NAPLES TOUR Galleria Umberto Gesu Nuovo St. Chiara Majolica Castel Nuovo ???? ????️ Huawei
A speedy tour of Naples main sights with my beloved friend and mother of Walter. On a stunning weather we get to see so much and also grab a real Napoli Pizza at the end!!
Galleria Umberto I is a public shopping gallery in Naples, southern Italy. It is located directly across from the San Carlo opera house. It was built between 1887–1891, and was the cornerstone in the decades-long rebuilding of Naples — called the risanamento (lit. making healthy again) — that lasted until World War I. It was designed by Emanuele Rocco, who employed modern architectural elements reminiscent of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan. The Galleria was named for Umberto I, King of Italy at the time of construction. It was meant to combine businesses, shops, cafes and social life — public space — with private space in the apartments on the third floor.
The Galleria is a high and spacious cross-shaped structure, surmounted by a glass dome braced by 16 metal ribs. The building is part of the UNESCO listing of the Historic Centre of Naples as a World Heritage Site.
Gesù Nuovo (Italian New Jesus) is the name of a church and a square in Naples, Italy. They are located just outside the western boundary of the historic center of the city. To the southeast of the spire[clarification needed], one can see a block away the Fountain of Monteoliveto &
Santa Chiara, a religious complex in Naples, Italy, that includes the Church of Santa Chiara, a monastery, tombs and an archeological museum. Famous is the cloister of the Clarisses, transformed in 1742 by Domenico Antonio Vaccaro with the unique addition of majolicatiles in Rococò style. The brash color floral decoration makes this cloister, with octagonal columns in pergola-like structure, likely unique and would seem to clash with the introspective world of cloistered nuns. The cloister arcades are also decorated by frescoes, now much degraded.
The Fountain of Neptune has been created between 1600 and 1601. Also involved in its completion were the sculptor-architects Michelangelo Naccherino, Pietro Bernini, and Cosimo Fanzago. This migratory fountain has continued to move through Naples: in 1886, it was dismantled, to reappear two years later in the Piazza Plaza della Borsa (now Plaza Giovanni Bovio), where it stood till 2000, when she was returned to Via Medina to allow for work on the Naples Metro.
The fountain is circular and surrounded by a balustrade. Water flows from four lions who hold shields with the symbols of Medina y de Carafa. Two sea monsters pour water in the central shell, adorned with dolphins and Tritons that also emit water; this was carved by Pietro Bernini. In the center, on a rock, two nymphs and two satyrs hold up a saucer that features a statue of Neptune with trident; this portion was sculpted by Naccherino.
Castel Nuovo (Italian: New Castle), often called Maschio Angioino (Italian: Angevin Keep), is a medieval castle located in front of Piazza Municipio and the city hall (Palazzo San Giacomo) in central Naples, Campania, Italy. Its scenic location and imposing size makes the castle, first erected in 1279, one of the main architectural landmarks of the city. It was a royal seat for kings of Naples, Aragon and Spain until 1815.
And finally PIZZA TIME at a very famous pizzeria that I have to research the name of!!

Bellissima....La Chiesa del Gesù Nuovo sorge sulla omonima piazza e si riconosce per la particolarità della facciata in bugnato di piperno a punta di diamante.
---
Imponenza e ricchezza d' arte insieme. Bello anche il contesto storico che la circonda. Forse la chiesa piu' bella di napoli.
---
Meravigliosa. Altare stupendo e la.presenza del Beato Moscati da possibilità di lasciare una preghiera per gli ammalati.
