Ten Americans plan to kayak from Havana to Key West
New York City Police Commissioner William Bratton apologizes for the mistaken arrest of tennis star James Blake which occurred outside a Midtown Hotel after Blake was mistakenly identified by an undercover officer as a suspect in a fraud ring.
Meanwhile a group of 10 Americans prepare to Kayak 113 miles from Havana to key west in a perilous, 30-hour trek as a sign of solidarity after the two countries recently normalized relations.
Ray Consolacion will tell us why.

Pontoon Boating
Some information and observation from first time pontoon boat owners. Having owned several styles and sizes of boats, the pontoon is definitely the most comfortable for this family who uses it strictly in the intracoastal waterway. This is the living room on the water of smaller boats under 30'. Of course there are pros and cons to any boat but but if it's a pleasure or party boat you want, this is a strong contender. When Exoman went to get a boat, he wated something comfotable with good shade like a t-top of strong Bimini. This Sylvan and the Bennington's he looked at were just right. He decided to buy a used Sylvan pontoon and save a lot of money.
A final caveat that was not mentioned in this video is that if you are going to get a boat and go out on the water make sure to spend the extra for boating insurance such as Boats US or Sea Tow. The cost is under $200 a year and can save you thousands. It is incredibly expensive to get assistance on the water where so much can go wrong from dead battery, no fuel, stuck or beached vessel, loss of power etc. Any of these events can cost hundreds or thousands and the peace of mind of know that help is a phone call away at no extra cost is so worth it!

The United States has approved ferry services between Florida and Cuba for the first time in five decades.
The U.S. Treasury and Commerce departments gave approval to at least four companies, including Havana Ferry Partners of Fort Lauderdale, Baja Ferries of Miami, United Caribbean Lines Florida of Greater Orlando and Airline Brokers Co. of Miami and Fort Lauderdale to run ferry services between Florida and Cuba, the Sun Sentinel reported.
Havana Ferry Partners plans to launch its ferry service between Key West and Havana, while Baja Ferries is looking into the possibilities of sailing between Port Everglades, Port Manatee and other Florida ports to Cuba, reported by Sun Sentinel.
Airlines Brokers Co. is considering Port Everglades among other places. United Caribbean Lines Florida is considering launching its ferry service to Cuba from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, the Tampa area and Port Canaveral, according to the Sun Sentinel.
Americans are not allowed to travel to Cuba for general tourism except for those in 12 categories including family visits, official government business and humanitarian projects, AFP reported.

Florida Keys Wooden Boat Fishing, Me and my stuff:
My Boats:
The original single seater Kayak is a Great Auk designed by Nick Shade of Guillemot Kayaks and built by me with my own two hands. It’s 16 1/2 feet long (the design is 17 feet, but I scaled it to fit in the garage I built it in) and 24 inches wide. This was the first boat I ever built.
“Tiny” the double kayak is another Nick Shade design (Micro Bootlegger) and was also built by me. Videos of the later parts of the build are on my channel for your perusal (don’t forget to like and comment). It’s 18 feet long and 28 inches wide, for a stable and roomy ride, even with a bunch of fishing stuff riding along with me (or a second person).
When I add the outrigger (which is just one of the pontoons off my Catamaran) I can include the Suzuki 2.5HP outboard to make tracks.
My “Three Week Canoe” was, once again, built by yours truly, and you can see the entire build in my award winning video series “The Three Week Strip Canoe Build”. Available on a computer screen near you. The design is the classic “Puddle Duck” by Gil Gilpatrick.
Last but not least (just kidding, yes it is), is my experimental and highly controversial “Stand Up Paddle Pontoon Catamaran Mini Party Barge”. Built AND designed by me, with no help or consultation of any kind from anyone. Which may explain why it confuses the hell out of anyone who sees it. It looks like a toy, paddles like a toy (but a really cool toy) and, best of all, is just plain fun.
My Bike:
My bike is a Schwinn (don’t you just love saying that?) Meridian Trike, because nothing says secure in his masculinity like riding down the side of US1 on a tricycle (I’m thinking of starting a trike club, we’ll get heavy leather jackets and sweat a lot, how cool am I?). Mine is tricked out with an LED headlight for early morning rides, a gigantic basket to hold all of my stuff, and four custom made PVC rod holders held on with the best hose clamps money can buy.
Fishing Gear:
My gear is mostly whatever cheap stuff I find at yard sales or on clearance, but when I buy quality it’s usually the Penn Fierce II series of spinning rod and real combos. What I like best about this Penn line is the name. Seriously, who doesn’t want to be “Fierce” (they work pretty well too). I’m also a fan of Mustad hooks (when I’m not cheating out and buying generics).
Cameras:
I have two primary cameras and a back up. The primaries are a GoPro Hero4 Black that I chose because someone offered it to me in trade for an arcade game I was trying to get rid of, and a GoPro Hero Session 4 that was a fathers day gift, so I will worship and treasure it forever (or until it quits working, whichever comes first). My backup camera is an iPhone 7 because, well duh, its got a camera built right in.
I do all of my editing on my iMac desktop computer because I’m old enough that I don’t just do it all on a laptop and I use the free GoPro Studio editing software because I’m cheap and don’t want to have to learn to use something better.
That’s me and my stuff. See you on the water.
Pontoon Boat Camping on Caladisi Island, Florida
Max and I decided that we wanted to try some boat camping. We took a pontoon boat to Caladesi Island and spend the night. When we got back we thought it would be fun to make this video describing some of our camping and cooking techniques. We also wanted to share a bit about the Island and how we made some really cool discoveries.

Pontoon Boat rental Florida
I rented a pontoon boat in Florida. Sept 2013. I go swimming with my dog Kelly. We had a fun time. Friendly Advice: Never go boating without a GPS to get you back to the dock. Make sure you carry PLENTY of batteries for it. People get lost without a gps, and basic chart, compass and binoculars. It's easy to get a bit disoriented out there when looking at the land and trying to find your way back. Truckersue.com

American paddle boarde‘s journey from Cuba to Florida
American Victoria Burgess is attempting the near impossible: she will attempt to paddleboard non-stop from Cuba to the Florida Keys.
Burgess, an experienced 33-year-old surfer, left the Hemingway International Yacht Club west of Havana Tuesday morning en route to Key West in Florida. The journey is expected to take around 25 hours and cover 90 miles, or about 170 kilometers.
The athlete, who also plays soccer, basketball, volleyball, and water polo, is calling her journey The Chica Libre Crossing, or the Free Girl Crossing.
