The World's First Pizzeria: Antica Pizzeria Port'Alba in Napoli, Italy
Antica Pizzeria Port'Alba in Naples is widely regarded as the city's first pizzeria. Purists, like the famous pizzeria Da Michele in Via C. Sersale (founded 1870), consider there to be only two true pizzas—the marinara and the margherita—and that is all they serve.
First established in 1738 as a stand for peddlers, Antica Pizzeria Port'Alba was opened in 1830 in the town center at Via Port'Alba 18.
The restaurant replaced street vendors who would make pizza in wood-fired ovens and bring it onto the street, keeping it warm in small tin stoves they balanced on their head.[3] It soon became a prominent meeting place for men in the street.
Most patrons were artists, students, or others with very little money, so the pizzas made were simple, with toppings such as oil and garlic.
A payment system, called pizza an otto, was developed that allowed customers to pay up to eight days after their meal. A resulting local joke was that a meal from Port'Alba might be someone's last free meal, if they died before they paid.
Antica Pizzeria Port'Alba is still in business today, located between some bookstores. Again, it is widely believed to be the world's first pizzeria.

Best Pizza in Naples, Italy Travel Food Video Transcript:
We have just arrived here in Naples and we are in town on a mission. Our mission is simple. To eat as much pizza as possible. Pizza was my favorite food growing up and we are visiting Naples the birthplace of pizza (Neapolitan pizza). We've got two days here. Our goal is to try and hit up five different pizzerias. We've searched the best of the best. We're going to visit them all and then we're going to rank them and let you know what our favorite one is. Let's eat pizza.
We are now approaching our first pizzeria of the day. It is just down the street. We're going to be eating at L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele. It is one of the most famous pizzerias in the whole city because they filmed a scene of Eat, Pray, Love here with Julia Roberts when she comes to Naples to devour pizza.
We're going to be ordering two kinds of pizza. We are planning to go for the margherita and marinara.
Wow! Is one way to describe that pizza experience. So it was delicious. It was amazing. It was huge. It was crowded.
It is time for our second pizza of the day. We have come to Port'Alba which has the distinction of being one of the oldest pizzerias in all of Naples. This one dates back to 1738.
Third pizzeria here in Naples and right now yes we're at Di Matteo. There is a huge crowd. At Di Matteo they are really popular for their street food. Like street pizza. We got a fried pizza and I got al forno which is in the oven - basically a folded margherita. Calling it portafoglio because it has been folded in four.
Pizza number 2 at Di Matteo was the fried variety. Pizza frita. It cost 1.50 Euros.
This is our forth pizzeria here in Naples called El Pizzeria Dal Presidente. We ordered the pizza margherita and a fried one with salami, pomodoro and two kinds of cheese.
We are at pizza place five of five at a place called La Cantina Dei Mille right by the train station.
We are feeling pretty stuffed. 10 pizzas in 2 days. That is a lot of pizza.
That was an insane pizza taste test in Naples. We got to try the best pizzas in the whole city (pizza Napoletana) and that makes me happy because I love pizza. We hope you guys enjoyed following along on this pizza adventure in Naples (pizza Napoletana). Ciao.

The Pizza of Naples in 2 Minutes
To fully appreciate the art and science of Neapolitan pizza you have to explore its changing surface textures, features and forms. THE PIZZA OF NAPLES IN TWO MINUTES, produced by captures the topography of Neapolitan pizza, from the flattening and stretching of the dough in the practiced hands of the pizzaiolo to the bubbling and browning of the crust under the torrents of intense heat in the wood-fired brick oven to the lava-like flows of molten mozzarella and plum tomato sauce covering the finished Margherita.
This clips and stills used in this film were in all shot in one day, 25 September 2013, at these eight pizzerias (listed in order of appearance):

Places to see in ( Naples - Italy ) Piazza Dante
Places to see in ( Naples - Italy ) Piazza Dante
Piazza Dante is a large public square in Naples, Italy, named after the poet Dante Alighieri. The square is dominated by a 19th-century statue of the poet Dante, sculpted by Tito Angelini. Originally, the square was called Largo del Mercatello (Market Square).
In 1765, it was rechristened Foro Carolina, after the wife of the King of Naples. At that time, the square was modified by architect Luigi Vanvitelli. Modifications included the construction of an ornate semicircular arrangement of columns and statues that now look down on the square. They now mark the western side of a boarding school named for Victor Emanuel II. Vanvitelli, with his changes, essentially converted what had been the rear of a large, pre-existing and ancient monastery into the front of the new structure.
The western side of the square is flanked by Via Toledo. At the southern side is the church of San Michele Arcangelo. On Via Toledo, in the northern flank of the piazza is the church of Santa Maria di Caravaggio and the Port'Alba, one of the city gates.
