For the first time ever, 'All the Rembrandts' are on display in Amsterdam
An extraordinary new exhibition in Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum marks the first time the museum’s entire collection of Rembrandts is available to the public. Titled “All the Rembrandts,” the show commemorates the 350th anniversary of the Dutch master’s death and sheds new light on his personal life. Jeffrey Brown speaks to art historians and walks the streets that fostered Rembrandt’s creative vision.

Amsterdam's best art museum, the Rijksmuseum
The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Netherlands is a huge world-famous collection presented in 80 galleries, exhibiting 8,000 objects that tell the story of 800 years of Dutch art and history. This collection focuses primarily on Dutch paintings of the 16th and 17th centuries, rather than trying to present a complete sample of the entire world of art. The museum has a lot to show, thanks especially to the extreme genius of great native painters, Frans Hals, Vermeer, van Ruisdael, Jan Steen, and most-famously, Rembrandt.
Don’t miss out on the absolute highlights, like Vermeer’s Milkmaid, Van Gogh’s Self-portrait and a gorgeous collection of Delft Blue pottery ranging from tea sets to vases,
The total archive includes 1 million objects from the years 1200–2000, with more than 2,000 paintings from the Dutch Golden Age. Some 30 galleries are dedicated to the glory of the Golden Age, when the young mercantile republic led the world in trade, science, shipping and the arts.
Many objects from Dutch history tell the story with Paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, silver, porcelain, delftware, furniture, jewelry, costumes and more. There are also dozens of rooms with medieval arts and later decorative pieces of the 19th century, 17th century miniature house models, along with a sampling of minor Italian Renaissance paintings
The building itself is a major work of art, designed in neo-Gothic and Reneissance styles by Pierre Cuypers, who also designed the similar-looking Central Train Station, both completed in the 1880s. The red terra-cotta façade is adorned with many statues, decorative stripes, reliefs and ceramic plaques, using a mix of medieval and 19th century styles.
Netherlands: Amsterdam - The Museum Willet-Holthuysen
The Museum Willet-Holthuysen is a museum in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on the Herengracht canal. It is the only fully furnished canal side patrician house in Amsterdam that is open to the public.
The house was built for Jacob Hop, mayor of Amsterdam, around 1685. He was not the last mayor to own the house. In 1739 the outside was redesigned to look as it does today, in the highly fashionable Louis XIV style.
In 1855 the house was owned by coal magnate Peter Holthysen (1788-1858), when he died it was inherited by his daughter Louisa (1824-1895) and her husband, art expert Abraham Willet.
This last private owner, Mrs. Willet-Holthuysen, bequeathed the entire house to the city of Amsterdam on condition it became a museum in 1895. It has been a museum ever since.
Some rooms are unchanged, while others such as the kitchen and the conservatory are renovated in 18th century style.
Three floors are open to the public, the basement floor (souterrain), with the kitchen and garden (restored in 1972), the first floor (bel-etage with long hallway), and the top floor, with one bedroom on display and rooms for exhibitions. The museum has a large collection of silverware, plate, and books from the Dutch Golden Age and a substantial collection of art.

8 Dutch Artists Transform Canal House for Converse Clash Wall Amsterdam
Amsterdam is the latest backdrop for the Converse Clash Wall series, which have taken place in cities across the globe. But unlike the others, this one is locally unique as it embodies not only the history of the city by taking over a traditional 17th century canal house to create an unprecedented piece of art. It also embraces the Dutch ideology of leaving their windows open and allowing the outside in and the inside out.
Clash Wall Amsterdam took over five floors transformed by eight Dutch artists - Does, Onno Poiesz, Rutger Termohlen, Sober Industries, Karski, Telmo Miel, Zedz and Zender - in nine days to create an ultimate collaboration - a clash of styles - that runs throughout the entirety of the building. The the first of its kind in the Clash Wall series, the project combined their personal style and ideas with that of Converse fans from around the world -- uniting the artists and their fans via the brand's Twitter page through inspirational tweets, conceptually working together in a new and refreshing way.
With the use of multiple artistic methods and materials, the artists managed to seamlessly connect each floor of this five-storey house, uniting their distinctive styles. By clashing this historic house, this project also touched upon a very Dutch practice of keeping their windows open. A tradition that dates back to the late 16th -17th century during the Dutch Golden Age, windows were kept open - curtains ever never closed - while sailors were out at sea so their wives couldn't cheat on them. The idea has long evolved from cheating to that of sharing, and in a culture where being normal is considered crazy enough, the home is the only place where the Dutch can truly express themselves. Allowing these artists to work in such a space with the windows uncovered recognizes a very special form of domestic exhibitionism that each resident of this country understands and shares. They've taken something that many would consider private - the inside of a residence - and made it public, transforming it into more than just a home, but a work of art and an unique experience for the public to enjoy.

Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide | Amsterdam — Europe's best-preserved 17th-century city — is simultaneously quaint and jarring, traditional and modern. Filled with history and still happy-go-lucky, it's a delight to explore. Uniquely entertaining Amsterdam shows off its Rembrandts and Van Goghs, more bikes than cars, flirting prostitutes, and pot-filled coffeeshops — all under tall, skinny facades leaning out over placid canals.

About me:
Hi there and thanks for watching! My name is Anne-Claire Fleer and I'm a Dutch Abstract Artist based in East London.
Early last year I made the transition from full-time corporate (financial sector) to creative and I'm very proud to now call myself an emerging artist in London!
Over the last couple of months I've frequently been asked how I succeed to get into so many exhibitions. Well, there is actually only one answer to that, and that's BE BOLD. Whenever you see art on the wall, whether it's a cafe, wine bar or gallery, be BOLD, walk in and gather information about the gallery, their vision and how they find their artists.. do you see a match? Ask for their contact details and make sure to follow up immediately after! This might not work for everyone, but it sure does for me :) and the very exciting news is that because I've had so many questions about this topic I've decided to share with you my journey in search of the perfect gallery to exhibit my work, I will share my weekly visits to different areas in London, starting in Dalston, where I will visit contemporary art galleries, talk to gallery owners and of course enjoy lunches and coffees in one of the many hotspots in London. Besides my weekly vlogs I'll give you sneak peeks and behind the scenes of the life of an emerging artist in London, from opening nights of my exhibitions to the process behind my paintings and of course the end results! All up for sale on my website anneclairefleer.com

Art Deco Amsterdam: Theater Tuschinski
New Amsterdam Travel Video - We love Art Deco architecture and design and there are many forms of it in both the exteriors and interiors of buildings all around Amsterdam. One of the most iconic examples of Art Deco is the Theater Tuschinski, right off the Rembrandtplein. Built in 1921 by Abraham Tuschinski, both the inside and outside are a rich, opulent feast for the eyes. Step back in time as Sander gives you the grand tour through the ornate lobby, the grand main theater, the upstairs balconies and the backstage VIP room. Besides the Deco style, there are also influences of Gothic, Art Nouveau and the Amsterdam School. The theater still operates as a Pathe cinema and you can take an audio tour of the theater every morning before the first film.

Amsterdam, Museum Quarter (Museumplein) - ???????? Netherlands - 4K Virtual Tour
Walking tour of Museum Quarter sightseeing the buildings of Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Bansky Museum. Click here ▶ to see highlights and guide.
The Museumplein was reconstructed after a design by the Swedish/Danish landscape architect Sven-Ingvar Andersson in 1999 and home to various famous museums. The space is also used for (mass) events such as festivals, celebrations, and demonstrations and Armin Van Buuren honoured The Dutch Team at Museumplein in 2010 by playing Swedish House Mafia. The main I amsterdam sign was also located here in front of the Rijksmuseum, until 4 December, 2018, when it was removed at the behest of the City Council. It is now located at Schiphol Airport and will be featured as thumbnail of Schiphol Airport Walking Tour Part 2.

Grand Hotel Amrath- Art Deco Amsterdam
New Amsterdam Travel Video- The Amsterdam School of Architecture and Design was born in this city and is closely related to Art Deco. Het Scheepvaarthuis or Shipping House is a great example. Originally built to house the offices of six shipping companies starting in 1913, the building is now home to the Grand Hotel Amrath. Host Sander tours this majestic hotel with its incredible glass ceiling, marble floors, intricate iron work, stately boardroom and breathtaking rooftop views. Museum Het Schip is dedicated to the Amsterdam School and gives tours of the Shipping House/Hotel Amrath every Sunday morning. A big thank you to the Amrath Hotel for being a wonderful host.
