On the auspicious occasion of the National Youth Day synchronizing with the 155th Birthday of the Patriot-Saint of modern India, Swami Vivekananda, as well as to commemorate the 125th year of his Chicago address at the Parliament of Religions, a day-long Music Festival was jointly organized by Sangeet Natak Academi, Ministry of Culture (Govt. of India) and Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi, on the 12th January 2018 in the Vivekananda Auditorium of the Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi.

Christmas Eve Celebration || 2018 || Ramakrishna Mission, Delhi
The Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi, celebrated Christmas Eve in the Temple on Monday, 24th December 2018 in a solemn and befitting manner. On this day, the Temple was decorated nicely and photos of Baby Jesus Christ and also Lord Jesus were adorned with garlands and flowers, and offerings were kept on the left side of the Temple hall, as it was considered to be a very special day for the Ramakrishna Mission. On this happy occasion, as usual, all prominent Christian Fathers – Archbishop Rev. Fr. Anil Joseph Thomas Couto, Rev. Fr. Felix Jones, participated in this Christmas Eve function.

Glimpses of Music Festival 2019 || Ramakrishna Mission, Delhi
To mark the 126th-anniversary celebrations of Swami Vivekananda’s historic address at the Chicago Parliament of Religions in 1893, a day-long music concert in association with the Sangeet Natak Akademi at Vivekananda Auditorium was organised on 12 January 2019.
The programme began with bhajans rendered by a child prodigy, Rahul Vellal from Bengaluru. This was followed by a second child artiste and singer Aryya Banik from Siliguri (West Bengal), who rendered Hindustani Classical Music and a couple of bhajans in Hindi and Bengali. Both of them were accompanied by Vinay Mishra on the Harmonium and Sambhunath Bhattacharya on the Tabla.
In the afternoon, renowned sarod-player and disciple of the legendary Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Pt. Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, and his son Indrayudh rendered Raga Gaud Sarang and Raga Zila Kafi on the sarod, accompanied by Pt. Yogesh Samsi of Mumbai on the Tabla.
The evening ended with melodic notes from renowned vocalist from Pune, Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar, who gave a masterly display of Khayal music (in Ragas Multani and Sindhura) as per the Agra, Gwalior and Jaipur gharanas. He was ably supported on the Tabla by Pt. Yogesh Samsi and on the Harmonium by Aryya Banik. Vocal assistance was very nicely provided by Ojas Pratap Singh.

Daridra Narayana Seva was organized this year also in the Mission premises on 20th December 2018. Revered Swami Shantatmanandaji Maharaj inaugurated this Narayana Seva by offering Kambals and cooked prasad to Narayanas, Swami Vimokshanandaji was also present on this occasion and other monastic members of the Ashram. In addition, a number of women devotees and a few male devotees also participated in the distribution of kambals and Prasad to all Daridra Narayanas.

Sister Nivedita was born in Ireland on 28th October, 1867 and was Christened as Margaret Noble. She met Swamiji for the first time during his visit to London in 1895. She was so inspired by Swami Vivekananda that she decided to come over to our country and serve her. She came over to India in 1898. Her contribution for the uplift of our women and in several other spheres was immense. In fact, we are yet to comprehend the magnitude of her work. The story of Nivedita’s dedication and self-sacrifice is sure to instill a spirit of patriotism and a sense of dedication in the hearts of our people, particularly the youth.
In order to commemorate Sister Nivedita’s 150th Birth Anniversary, a public meeting was organized on Saturday, the 28th of October, 2017 at our Vivekananda Auditorium. It was presided over by Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Hon'ble President of India. Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj, Vice President, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission also addressed the audience.

Sri Swapan Dasgupta, eminent journalist delivered the keynote address while Shri Anand Kumar of “Super 30”, Shri Vinayak Lohani of “Parivaar” and Shri Nimesh ‘Nimo’ Patel of “Empty Hands Music”, besides Swami Shantatmanandaji were the main speakers at the Youth Convention held at Ramakrishna Mission, Delhi on 30 Jan 2016. This is a recording of Sri Anand Kumar's interaction with the youth.
Shri Anand Kumar’s Super 30 is a highly ambitious and innovative educational programme which strives to identify 30 meritorious talents every year from among the economically backward sections of the society and prepare them for India’s most prestigious institutions – the IITs. During the programme the students are provided coaching, lodging and food absolutely free. Over the years, it has produced hundreds of IITans from extremely poor background.

Khandana Bhava Bandhana - Arati song of Sri Ramakrishna
The Arati songs comprises of three hymns of praise to Sri Ramakrishna and Sri Sarada Devi. The hymns are sung in almost all the centres of the Ramakrishna Order at sunset and also on special occasions.
This hymn, sung in classical Dhrupad style was composed and set to tune by Swami Vivekananda.
Details about the lyrics of the Arati Songs and their meaning can be found in a book by Swami Harshananda called Arati Songs.

To mark the 150th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Swami Vivekananda, Ramakrishna Mission, Delhi produced an excellent Puppet Show on the life of Swami Vivekananda. Udaipur’s famed Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal, designed and produced the show as a running story featuring episodes of Swami Vivekananda's life. Great audio-visual effects and an engaging script make this show a great watch.
