The city was incorporated on August 7, 1905. Located in the eastern region of the San Francisco Bay Area, Richmond borders the cities of San Pablo, Albany, El Cerrito and Pinole in addition to the unincorporated communities of North Richmond, Hasford Heights, Kensington, El Sobrante, Bayview-Montalvin Manor, Tara Hills, and East Richmond Heights, and briefly San Francisco on Red Rock Island. Under the McLaughlin Administration, Richmond was the largest city in the United States served by a Green Party mayor. As of the 2010 U.S. Census, the city's population is at 103,710, making it the second largest city in the United States to be named Richmond, after Richmond, Virginia. The name Richmond appears to predate actual incorporation by more than fifty years. Investment in the U.S. financial services industry offers significant advantage for financial firms. In 2015, at least 128 of Fortune's Global 500 companies have chosen to locate their headquarters in the United States to take advantage of its creative, competitive, and comprehensive financial services sector. The industry offers the greatest array of financial instruments and products to allow consumer to manage risk, create wealth, and meet financial needs. People around America have problems with their credit scores. Better Qualified team and Steven tries to explain how to avoid this problem. However, this issue can be easily solved. Better Qualified proposes some notes for it. Steve talks about turning factors when it comes to scoring his credit. Payment history is the most important one. 35% of FICO score is based on payment history, so if you pay on time, your score will never be dropped on hundred points. Also, the Amounts Owed, which takes 30% of FICO score is important. Steve says - don't keep max out credit cards. If it happens, try to pay these accounts down. If you pay your accounts down to 20% or lower, then you will see a quick bust in your credit score within the next month. The length of the credit history is also important.

Confederate White House and Its Garden (Richmond, VA)
When Richmond's fall to Federal troops was imminent in the spring of 1865, Davis and his family evacuated the city, leaving behind the fully furnished house and ending its term as an executive mansion. Davis would never set foot again in the Confederate White House, although his wife returned several times later to provide valuable insight as the home became the Confederate Museum (later The Museum of the Confederacy). On April 4, 1865, President Abraham Lincoln came to Richmond to inspect the former Confederate capital and the Davis residence, which had become the headquarters for the occupying army. This heralded the beginning of a Federal military occupation of both the house and the City of Richmond that lasted five years. Souvenir hunters removed many items, while the more substantial furnishings were sold a public auction in the fall of 1870 after the residence and its contents were ceded back to the City of Richmond. The City used the elegant home as part of a new public schools system. Over six hundred students attended school every year in the mansion and its outbuildings. In 1889, threatened with destruction, the home was saved and ultimately became a museum dedicated to preserving the history of the Confederate nation.

The Masquers Playhouse is a performing arts center that offers shows and productions year round. Hotel Mac is one of the oldest buildings in the area and has classic early 20th century architecture, like many other buildings in the area. There is also The Plunge, a natatorium which had been closed due to seismic safety issues but was re-opened in August 2010 after the retrofitting was completed. The city expressed a desire to demolish the building at one point, but this was halted by the actions of a neighborhood preservation campaign which continues its mission to Save the Plunge!.
The Ferry Point Tunnel is one of the oldest tunnels in California. Built in 1899, this structure still gives access to many attractions and neighborhoods in Brickyard Cove. The tunnel goes to the Golden State Railroad Museum, the USS Red Oak Victory, and many beaches and parks, and to Ferry Point where an abandoned ferry-rail pier still stands with a historic ferry slip still standing, though somewhat damaged by fire. It can be viewed from an adjacent fishing pier. Full list of Video Credit see here Finance and Insurance industry includes: Establishments that are primarily engaged in financial intermediation. Building the Liberty Ships During World War II -- Birth of Victory 1945
The Kaiser Shipyards were seven major shipbuilding yards located on the United States west coast during World War II. Kaiser ranked 20th among U.S. corporations in the value of wartime production contracts.[1] The shipyards were owned by the Kaiser Shipbuilding Company, a creation of American industrialist Henry J. Kaiser, who established the shipbuilding company around 1939 in order to help meet the construction goals set by the United States Maritime Commission for merchant shipping.
Four of the Kaiser Shipyards were located in Richmond and were called the Richmond Shipyards. Together, these four Kaiser Shipyards produced 747 ships, including many of the famous Liberty ships and Victory ships—more than any other complex in the United States. Only one of these ships, the SS Red Oak Victory, survives. Kaiser also produced the Casablanca-class escort carriers.
Three other shipyards were located across the Columbia River from each other at Ryan Point in Vancouver, Washington and in the St. Johns area of Portland, Oregon as part of the Oregon Shipbuilding Corporation group, and at Swan Island in Portland.[2]
Henry Kaiser was known for developing new methods of ship building, which allowed his yards to outproduce other similar facilities and build 1,490 ships, 27 percent of the total Maritime Commission construction. Kaiser's ships were completed in two-thirds the time and a quarter the cost of the average of all other shipyards. Liberty ships were typically assembled in a little over two weeks, and one in less than five days.[3]
Kaiser Shipyards shut down at the end of the war. The Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National Historical Park was dedicated October 25, 2000 on the site of one of the shipyards in Point Richmond.
enry Kaiser had been building cargo ships for the Maritime Commission in the 1930s, partnering with Todd Pacific Shipyards and the Bath Iron Works. When orders for ships from the British government, already at war with Germany, allowed for growth, Kaiser established his first Richmond shipyard begun in December 1940.[4]
In April 1941 the Maritime Commission requested an additional Kaiser yard, to be used for Liberty ship construction, and after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Kaiser started third and fourth yards, building troop transports and tank landing ships (LSTs), respectively. His son, Edgar Kaiser, Sr was appointed Vice-President and General Manager of the shipyards.
Kaiser set several records:
The Liberty ship SS Robert E. Peary was assembled in less than five days as a part of a special competition among shipyards.
At the Oregon Shipbuilding Yard on the Columbia River, near Portland, the Victory ship SS Joseph N. Teal was built in ten days in fall 1942.
The Oregon Shipbuilding Yards were responsible for 455 ships.
Kaiser recruited from across the United States to work in his yards, hiring women and minorities.

Groundbreaking of the Richmond Ferry Building, Nov. 1, 2017
Kicked off by the rousing music of the Richmond High Marching Band inside Craneway Pavilion, local elected officials and regional transportation leaders celebrated the groundbreaking Wednesday for the Richmond Ferry Terminal, which is expected to begin offering weekday commuter service to San Francisco about the same time next year.
The ferry terminal, which will operate under the San Francisco Bay Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA), will locate next to the Craneway building. Construction includes a new passenger shelter, gangway and dock; improved and expanded 362-space paved parking lot; improved pedestrian and bike facilities, including bike lockers and widened sidewalks; resurfacing of the existing Sheridan Point Walk and some additional rehab to the overlook; 400 feet of new shoreline path; public art; and a new ADA-compliant kayak launch ramp.
The terminal and landslide cost totals about $20 million, with funding coming from State Prop. 1B, Regional Measure 2 and the U.S. Department of Transportation.
At first, the ferry operate only on weekdays to and from San Francisco, with three morning departures and four afternoon departures. Service may expand depending on demand, said Jim Wunderman, President and CEO of the Bay Area Council.
The service will cost an estimated $4 million to operate, which will be funded via fare revenue and Contra Costa County Measure J dollars.
Richmond Mayor Tom Butt predicted the ferry will significantly enhance the burgeoning Richmond waterfront, which has increased in housing density and commercial and tourism amenities, including the Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historical Park and Visitor's Center.
Wunderman said the Richmond Ferry will help meet the growing demand for ferry service in an increasingly gridlocked Bay Area. Currently, WETA offers daily passenger ferry service to the cities of Alameda, Oakland, San Francisco, Vallejo and South San Francisco, carrying about 2.6 million passengers annually. In the last five years, ridership has grown 78-percent, the agency said.
This year, WETA added two new ferry boats, and another five will be added in the next two years, Wunderman said.
In the future, WETA is planning a system that seamlessly connects cities in the greater Bay Area with San Francisco, using fast, environmentally responsible vessels, with wait times of 15 minutes or less during peak commute hours, the agency said. WETA's 2035 vision would expand service throughout the Bay Area, operating 12 services at 16 terminals with a fleet of 44 vessels.
In addition to the Richmond-San Francisco route, service is also being launched at Treasure Island in the near future.

Chimney Rock National Historic Monument, Nebraska
Stopped and got some drone shots of Chimney Rock, Courthouse & Jail Rocks on my way through Nebraska.
These rocks were used as markers along the Oregon, California and Mormon Trials.
Chimney rock was feature on the 2006 Nebraska state quarter.
