Relaxing Nature Journey 26 ( Winter 2017 / Ridley Creek State Park )
Nature Journey series:
Nature Sounds series:
Getting back into the swing of more nature videos this year as I ramble both verbally and physically once again through the local winter woodlands of Ridley Creek State Park, Pennsylvania, in an effort to share with you the calming sights and sounds of the trees and flowing waters of the creek.
As stated in the video, I hope to film more nature videos this year, especially (hopefully!) from some new places, that may include waterfalls and perhaps an ocean.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say. And nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to winter here in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. Dull grays and browns paint the barren landscape, and often the sky as well. Even when the sun does break through the clouds to offer a blue sky, the earth still remains cold and bleak. But there is still plenty of beauty that one can find in the reflection, peace, solitude and tranquility provided by the natural areas that still remain near us.
Tech note: Recorded with in-ear binaural microphones but converted to mono/stereo. Not just with the hearing impaired in mind, but mostly since walking near the creek with my head turning about, or the creek being on one side of me, doesn't create the best listening experience. Plus, if you can only listen through 1 ear (if you're at work, for instance) you aren't missing anything either.

A youth football organization gets a game-changing upgrade [Advertiser content from State Farm]
Chester, Pennsylvania is about 30 miles down the Delaware river from Philadelphia. At one time, it was a booming industrial town, known first for textile production and then for heavy metals. By the 1980s, though, factories had shuttered and Chester fell on harder economic times.
That might be the history of Chester as a township, but it says nothing of Chester as a community.
William Morgan grew up in Chester. He has worked for the United States Postal Service since 1988 and he knows the whole area like the back of his hand. He also knows who’s who in town, and how to run a winning football play.
That’s because after work and on weekends, Morgan dedicates time to his passion project. He co-founded the Chester Township Cougars Youth Association, part of the Pop Warner Youth Football League, in 2009, and he continues to serve as its President. The organization now enrolls hundreds of local youth. The main focus is football, of course, but also an environment of support, strength, and mentorship that Morgan and Head Coach Musa Mosley foster — both on and off the field.
The Cougars, while resilient, have faced their fair share of challenges. They’ve had their equipment vandalized, and every single season they wonder where the money will come from to cover costs, such as lighting the field after dark. Soon, the Cougars will begin preparing for another promising season, but this time, thanks to State Farm, they don’t have to worry about where the light will come from.

Poughkeepsie, New York
Poughkeepsie /pəˈkɪpsiː/ (pə-KIP-see), officially the City of Poughkeepsie, is a city in the state of New York, United States, which serves as the county seat of Dutchess County. Poughkeepsie is located in the Hudson Valley midway between New York City and Albany. The name derives from a word in the Wappinger language, roughly U-puku-ipi-sing, meaning the reed-covered lodge by the little-water place, referring to a spring or stream feeding into the Hudson River south of the present downtown area.
Poughkeepsie is known as The Queen City of the Hudson. Poughkeepsie is the principal city of the Poughkeepsie–Newburgh–Middletown metropolitan area, which includes all of Dutchess and Orange counties. It was originally settled in the 17th century by the Dutch and became New York's second capital shortly after the American Revolution. It was chartered as a city in 1854. Major bridges in the city include the Poughkeepsie Bridge, a former railroad bridge now serving as a public walkway, which opened on October 3, 2009, and the Mid-Hudson Bridge, a major thoroughfare built in 1930 that carries U.S. Route 44 (concurrent with State Route 55) over the Hudson. The City of Poughkeepsie lies in New York's 18th congressional district.
