We decided to take a little run of the 35 mile River Mountains Loop Trail!
About the River Mountains Loop Trail
The River Mountains Loop Trail is Nevada’s first endeavor of its kind. Constructed through a combined effort of many of Nevada’s resource management agencies, private land owners and citizens, this non-motorized trail will provide Nevada residents and out of state visitors with an outdoor recreation area offering scenic views, plentiful wildlife and the vast beauty only the Mojave Desert can offer.
Railroad Pass Hotel & Casino, named after nearby Railroad Pass, is a casino and hotel in Henderson, Nevada.
The casino has 12,803 square feet (1,189 m2) of gaming space, with 309 slot machines and 6 table games, and a William Hill sports and race book.

Trail Run and Hike up Henderson B Mountain - McCullough Range - River Mountain Loop
Hiked up to the top of the Henderson Mountain with the B for Basic on it. Great weather, great light rain falling. Overall it was 4 miles there and back. So a nice easy run and hike.
Running The River Mountains Loop Trail - 34.1 Miles Anti-Clockwise (Las Vegas, NV)
After living in Las Vegas for over 5 years, I finally decided to run The River Mountains Loop Trail! It runs between Boulder City and Henderson and covers a smidgen over 34 miles total. If you run it Anti-Clockwise, you have a good hill battle on your hands, as the elevation creeps for most of the journey, which is lost very quickly as you run back towards Lake Mead.
I parked just within the Lake Mead entrance, near the Hoover Dam Lodge, the first car park on the right, but before the paying entrance lol. I figured, that way, I would get through the the barren section with no cell service while still feeling relatively fresh as I was running alone!
WARNING:
- Due to the heat and lack of water on route, I would recommend running this between November and February in the daytime, or, during the night. A large camelbak is not enough.
- There is no cell phone reception for some of this route.
- The worst part is mile markers 14 to 20. No cell reception, no foot traffic (only the rare cyclist) and of course, no shade.
- There is no shade on this route at all. Very exposed!
- There is a water fountain at Bootleg Canyon (It adds 0.5 miles, as you can see from my video lol). (~Mile marker 30.5)
- There are facilities at Railroad pass (~Mile marker 0.0)
- The water fountain by Equestrian Park DOES NOT WORK! (~Mile marker 3.0)
- There is a small little fenced in area with a water fountain called SNWA Rest Area (~Mile marker 4.0)
- For your first time, I recommend doing this route clockwise!

railroad pass trail crossing, boulder city and henderson, nevada
after seeing this recreational trail i thought to research it and it happens to be the incredibly long river mountains loop trail, taking around the river mountains range in a complete circle for 35 miles, if you think im crazy for wanting to do the entire trail on a bicycle well i guess i am because i cant live without riding a bicycle
this trail was built to have 2 trail railroad crossings that were near the edge of the blasted mountain to allow hualing anything from one valley to the next over 100 years ago
i wanted to see the train ride over the new railroad bridge but for some ridiculous reason they put a red rail flag in front of it, the bridge is 1 year old and barely had any traffic
sorry for not posting a video, life in las vegas has been a bit ridiculous, i upgraded my video editor and now im trying to find non copyright fitting music for the 2018 holiday and craft festival when i did my first show with my N scale club...if you are wondering why i don't volunteer at the museum, i signed the papers but i live more than 30 miles away and i cant always go to boulder city...and for how long it takes to work my way up to being an engineer ive been thinking to do other things and save 250$ for when to drive the locomotive for fun which i don't mind....this is the cheapest place in the united states to drive a diesel locomotive
im waiting for the Nevada southern railway museum to finish fixing the new to the collection maersk SDP40F and the SP F40PH and i really need to drive the F40PH ive been waiting my entire life to drive it ever since i was a boy in the Midwest, i love the shape of that locomotive very much
let me know if you want to see my modular freelanced N scale layout...my first layout with scenery and DCC...that video wont be as quick as you think

The original Flamingo-Arroyo Trail stretches 9 miles from Twain near Eastern to the Sunrise Trail near Clark County Wetlands Park. An exciting new trail takes users from the Sunrise Trailhead into the north side of the Clark County Wetlands Park, where you can walk or bike east along the Las Vegas Wash.
