The Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA) serves the communities from Aspen to Rifle, Colorado. This is a short history of transit in our area. Interviews include RFTA's groovy beginnings as a mostly hippie-run bus system, to becoming the second largest transit agency in the state of Colorado. It discusses the many innovations of our transit agency such as high altitude biofuels, bikes on buses, the Bike Express bus to our current development of the first rural bus rapid transit (BRT) system - VelociRFTA. 2015 ACEC Colorado Awards: Parson Transportation Group - Pitkin Pedestrian Underpass
A Merit Award is being presented to Parsons Transportation Group for the “Pitkin County Pedestrian Underpass” project.
Numerous car accidents involving pedestrians crossing State Highway 82 at the Aspen-Pitkin County Airport prompted local elected officials to seek a solution. A special Elected Officials Transportation Committee was formed, and it funded a study and design effort for a grade-separated crossing serving the airport, Aspen Airport Business Center and two Roaring Fork Transportation Authority Bus Rapid Transit stations. Parsons Transportation Group developed a multi-level stakeholder engagement program that set the strategy for their design and site plan. The solution included a 16 feet by 10 feet arched tunnel for a 120-foot long crossing, using 12-foot wide trails with a snow-melt system. LED lighting with timed dimmer technology saves energy during off-peak times and future trail connections. The airport’s planned underground parking garage will also seamlessly match into the trails and tunnel.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
This article deals with hybrid combustion / battery hybrid buses. For alternately powered buses, see dual-mode bus; for fuel cell hybrids see fuel cell bus; for all-electric buses, see electric bus.
A hybrid electric bus combines a conventional internal combustion engine propulsion system with an electric propulsion system. These type of buses normally use a Diesel-electric powertrain and are also known as hybrid Diesel-electric buses.
The introduction of hybrid electric vehicles and other green vehicles for purposes of public transport forms a part of sustainable transport schemes.
