The cathedral is the largest Gothic church in Northern Europe and has the second-tallest spires. The towers for its two huge spires give the cathedral the largest façade of any church in the world. The choir has the largest height to width ratio, 3.6:1, of any medieval church.
Katedra w Kolonii (niem. Kölner Dom, oficjalnie Hohe Domkirche St. Peter und Maria) – archikatedra, największy i najważniejszy kościół w niemieckiej Kolonii.
Powierzchnia kościoła wraz z wieżami to 7100 m².

Cologne's medieval builders had planned a grand structure to house the reliquary of the Three Kings and fit its role as a place of worship for the Holy Roman Emperor. Despite having been left incomplete during the medieval period, Cologne Cathedral eventually became unified as a masterpiece of exceptional intrinsic value and a powerful testimony to the strength and persistence of Christian belief in medieval and modern Europe.
This stabilized 360° video starts at the remains of a roman road, crosses the Roncalliplatz to the replica of the top of the spire, then enters the cathedral touring the inside including the Shrine of the Three Kings. It ends with a walk through the neighbouring main railway station ending at the spot where there was a terror attack in October 2018. There is a short commentary at the beginning and end, not none inside the cathedral, as we want you to enjoy the atmosphere as if you were really there.
Best watched with VR goggles.

It has the largest façade of any church in the world; you can see it here from bottom to top on a clear and sunny December afternoon. It is Germany's most visited landmark, attracting an average of 20,000 people a day. The construction of Cologne Cathedral was begun in 1248 and was halted in 1473, leaving it unfinished. Work restarted in the 19th century and was completed, to the original plan, in 1880. It is 144.5 metres (474 ft) long, 86.5 m (284 ft) wide and its two towers are approximately 157 m (515 ft) tall. Its two huge spires give it the largest façade of any church in the world. The area of the west façade is 7100 m², and it is 61.54 m wide. Katedra Świętego Piotra i Najświętszej Marii Panny w Kolonii (po niemiecku Kölner Dom, oficjalnie Hohe Domkirche St. Peter und Maria) -- archikatedra, największy i najważniejszy rzymsko-katolicki kościół niemieckiej Kolonii.
