Museo Di Capodimonte – Presentation – Naples – Audio Guide – MyWoWo Travel App
Hi, I'm Alyson, your personal guide. Together with MyWoWo, I'd like to welcome you to one of the wonders of the world.
Today I'll accompany you through the Museum of the Royal Palace of Capodimonte, the most scenic and spectacular museum in Naples!
I'll tell you about the beautiful eighteenth-century, richly decorated palace, its series of art collections ranging from Gothic to Contemporary Art as well as including Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces: this museum has the most complete collection of art from the Neapolitan school from the 1400s to the 1800s.
We'll see a collection of tapestries, jewelry, and objects of absolute beauty displayed on an itinerary that passes through more than a hundred rooms, and that's not even all: there's also a wonderful 120-hectare historic park overlooking Naples and one of the finest porcelain workshops in all of Europe... in short, could you even ask for more? You could spend an entire day at Capodimonte if you have the time, also because the hill the palace stands on is connected to the historic center by a shuttle service.
You've surely heard about the famous porcelain of Capodimonte: well, you should know that this palace was built thanks to an initiative of King Charles of Bourbon, who in 1738 decided to set up a porcelain workshop here as well as build a home for the extraordinary collection of artwork he had inherited from his mother Elisabeth Farnese. This immense palace has undergone various alterations and had various owners until it was restored as a museum in 1957, when the works were brought back here from the National Archaeological Museum…

ABOUT NAPLES CITY ATTRACTIONS (BEST PIZZA IN TOWN)
Naples, Napoli in Italian, is the third-largest city in Italy, located in the Campania region in the southern part of the country. It's about two hours south of Rome, on the coast on the northern edge of the Bay of Naples, one of the most beautiful bays in Italy. Its harbor is the most important port in southern Italy.
Pizza, one of Italy's most famous foods, originated in Naples and is taken very seriously here. There are even rules about the type of flour, tomatoes, cheese and olive oil to be used in authentic Neapolitan pizza. Be sure to seek out a restaurant with an authentic wood-burning oven, which takes pizza to a whole new level.

Semi-Abandoned Renaissance Palace in Italy - Urban Exploration
We were driving along in rural Italy, and decided to pull off the road and into a dusty village for refreshments....and look what I found!
This place has obviously had a few makeovers during it's time; I think it's most recent incarnation was as a hotel/restaurant/function centre.
The place has been out of business for a few years, and as we were there, it was being renovated for yet another enterprise.
When I first walked in the courtyard entrance, I was met by a group of Italian men - I asked basically in sign language, lol ...if I could look around; immediately one piped up NO - but an older gentlemen (obviously in charge) waved me in with a smile, and said I could look around the courtyard. After doing so, he called out Would you like to explore inside? ....what a good man - bless him!
Once inside my wanderings took me to parts where there had been no public access....dungeons, tomb of dead pigeons, forgotten room with antiques and a glorious chapel.....join me friends!
Only had my crappy old compact camera, but I made the most of it.
Hope you enjoy!

Pizza (i/ˈpiːtsə/, Italian pronunciation: [ˈpittsa]) is an oven-baked, flat, round bread typically topped with a tomato sauce, cheese and various toppings. Pizza was originally invented in Naples, Italy, and the dish has since become popular in many parts of the world.[1] An establishment that makes and sells pizzas is called a pizzeria. Many varieties of pizza exist worldwide, along with several dish variants based upon pizza. In 2009, upon Italy's request, Neapolitan pizza was safeguarded in the European Union as a Traditional Specialty Guaranteed dish.

Vegetarian pizza typically includes cheese and any toppings except meat.
Main article: History of pizza
Pizza (Italian pronunciation: [ˈpittsa], from the Latin verb pìnsere, to press and from the Greek pēktos, πηκτός, meaning solid or clotted) is Greek in origin (see also pitta). The ancient Greeks covered their bread with oils, herbs and cheese. In Byzantine Greek, the word was spelled πίτα, pita, or πίττα, pitta, meaning pie. The word has also spread to Romanian as pită, Turkish as pide,[2] and Bulgarian, Croatian and Serbian as pita, Albanian as pite and Modern Hebrew pittāh.[3] The Romans developed placenta, a sheet of dough topped with cheese and honey and flavored with bay leaves.
Modern pizza originated in Italy as the Neapolitan flatbread.
A popular urban legend holds that the archetypal pizza, Pizza Margherita, was invented in 1889, when the Royal Palace of Capodimonte commissioned the Neapolitan pizzaiolo Raffaele Esposito to create a pizza in honor of the visiting Queen Margherita. Of the three different pizzas he created, the Queen strongly preferred a pie swathed in the colors of the Italian flag: red (tomato), green (basil), and white (mozzarella). Supposedly, this kind of pizza was then named after the Queen as Pizza Margherita,[4] though recent research disproves this legend.[5]
Cooking
In restaurants, pizza can be baked in an oven with stone bricks above the heat source, an electric deck oven, a conveyor belt oven or, in the case of more expensive restaurants, a wood- or coal-fired brick oven. On deck ovens, the pizza can be slid into the oven on a long paddle, called a peel, and baked directly on the hot bricks or baked on a screen (a round metal grate, typically aluminum). When made at home, it can be baked on a pizza stone in a regular oven to reproduce the effect of a brick oven. Another option is grilled pizza, in which the crust is baked directly on a barbecue grill. Greek pizza, like Chicago-style pizza, is baked in a pan rather than directly on the bricks of the pizza oven.
Crust
The bottom of the pizza, called the crust, may vary widely according to style—thin as in a typical hand-tossed pizza or Roman pizza, or thick as in a typical pan pizza or Chicago-style pizza. It is traditionally plain, but may also be seasoned with garlic or herbs, or stuffed with cheese.
Cheese
Main article: Pizza cheese
The most popular cheeses to use on pizza are mozzarella, provolone, cheddar and parmesan. Romano and Ricotta are often used as toppings and processed cheese manufactured specifically for pizza is used in mass-produced environments. Processed pizza cheese is manufactured to produce preferable qualities like browning, melting, stretchiness and fat and moisture content. Many studies and experiments have analyzed the impact of vegetable oil, manufacturing and culture processes, denatured whey proteins and other changes to creating the ideal and economical pizza cheese. In 1997 it was estimated that annual production of pizza cheese was 2 billion pounds in the US and 200 million pounds in Europe.
Toppings: Myriad toppings are used on pizzas, including, but not limited to:
Anchovies Bacon Ground beef Mushrooms Olives Onions Pepperoni Peppers Sausage Seafood Sun-dried tomatoTomatoes Vegetables

Pizza is a flatbread generally topped with tomato sauce and cheese and baked in an oven. It is commonly topped with a selection of meats, vegetables and condiments. Common toppings for pizza in the United States include ground beef, mushrooms, onions, pepperoni, pineapple, garlic, chicken and sausage.
A popular contemporary legend holds that the archetypal pizza, pizza Margherita, was invented in 1889, when the Royal Palace of Capodimonte commissioned the Neapolitan pizzaiolo (pizza maker) Raffaele Esposito to create a pizza in honor of the visiting Queen Margherita.
