Walk to Rua da Felicidade Happiness street from Senado Square, Macau
Skip to walkthrough of the street:
Rua da Felicidade (Happiness Street), between Largo de Santo Agostinho and Largo do Senado, was once the heart of Macau's red lights district, and that is how it got its rather peculiar name... Today, it is a cute, authentic shopping street where you can buy some exotic products, enjoy some truly authentic food and see some nice shophouses with traditional red louvers... (Movie lovers may recognize the street from Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Doom).
Recommended restaurants along Rua da Felicidade include Tou Tou Koi (specializes in Chinese hotpot/steamboat dishes and old style cooking...), Fat Siu Lau (One of Macau's oldest restaurants, serving authentic Macanese cuisine), Café Kam Ma Lon (an unpretentious eatery, serving decent food at moderate prices), Sai Nam (Cantonese style seafood), Restaurant Cheong Kei noodle (lovely Cantonese specialties with a traditional Macanese touch...)

Rua da Felicidade - Macao's Distinguished Chinese Lane
Rua da Felicidade is the old Chinese trading section of Macao. Though not a part of the UNESCO WHS inscribed area, this street holds the oriental charm that is reflective of the Chinese lifestyle and social interactions. Colored in white and red, the houses are lined shoulder to shoulder on either side of the historical street. A remarkable feature of each of the houses is the utilization of a three-door entrance - each serving different functions. SanVa Hotel, one of the protected heritage houses in Rua da Felicidade, serves as an affordable choice for backpackers who want to experience the old world feel of the Macao. This 'living' street is probably one of the my favorite parts of the historic city - yet, another underrated part.

MACAU OLD TOWN WALKING TOUR (ULTRA HD 4K) - RUA DE FELICIDADE | TRAVESSA DE PAIXO | ST PAULS RUINS
#macau #hongkong #澳門歷史城區
Welcome to Macau Old Town walking tour, the historic centre of Macau (澳門歷史城區), where you will see the Rua De Felicidade, Travessa de Paixo and of course the famous Ruins of St Pauls (the leftover parts of the St Pauls Cathedral), which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The video is shot in Ultra HD 4k, crystal clear, as if you were actually here.
'The Historic Centre of Macao, Portuguese: Centro Histórico de Macau, Chinese: 澳門歷史城區, is a collection of over twenty locations that witness the unique assimilation and co-existence of Chinese and Portuguese cultures in Macau, a former Portuguese colony. It represents the architectural legacies of the city's cultural heritage, including monuments such as urban squares, streetscapes, churches and temples.
In 2005 the Historic Centre of Macau was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, making it the 31st designated World Heritage site in China. It was described by UNESCO as: with its historic street, residential, religious and public Portuguese and Chinese buildings, the historic centre of Macao provides a unique testimony to the meeting of aesthetic, cultural, architectural and technological influences from East and West, and ...it bears witness to one of the earliest and longest-lasting encounters between China and the West, based on the vibrancy of international trade.[1]'

Macau China Info:
Macau, also spelt Macao and officially the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, is a special administrative region on the western side of the Pearl River estuary in southern China. With a population of 667,400 and an area of 32.9 km2 (12.7 sq mi), it is the most densely populated region in the world.
Macau was formerly a colony of the Portuguese Empire, after Ming China leased the territory as a trading post in 1557. Between 1557 and 1887, Macau was governed by the Portuguese under Chinese sovereignty and authority. In 1887, Portugal was given perpetual colonial rights for Macau. The colony remained under Portuguese rule until 1999, when it was transferred to China. As a special administrative region, Macau maintains separate governing and economic systems from that of mainland China.
Originally a sparsely populated collection of coastal islands, the territory has become a major resort city and the top destination for gambling tourism. It is the ninth-highest recipient of tourism revenue and its gambling industry is seven times larger than that of Las Vegas. Although the city has one of the highest per capita incomes in the world, it has severe income inequality. Its GDP per capita by purchasing power parity is one of the highest in the world and higher than any country in the world in 2014 according to the World Bank.
Macau has a very high Human Development Index. Macau has the fourth-highest life expectancy in the world. The territory is highly urbanised and most development is built on reclaimed land; two-thirds of total land area is reclaimed from the sea.
