❤Taiwan: Ruifang Food Court is a Foodies Dream Come True ???? (Ruifang Taiwan) 瑞芳 九份
We came from Taipei on the train to Ruifang(about 40 mins) to connect to the bus to the mountain tourist town of Juifen. Before catching the bus we decided to see what good food is on offer in this city.
We were delighted to find this incredible food court of fresh local Taiwanese food! The prices were a lot cheaper than in Taipei, and the quality was high off the charts. The food here was so good that as I edit this video I wish I was back there to eat again. A big positive here is that the people here are incredibly friendly and kind-hearted.
I paid for my food, but people would even come over and give me sample of new foods to try. The people here are proud of the food that they have been making here, with some stalls as old as 50 and 60 years old.
Thank you to Ruifang Food Court.
Li Jhang Bo Pork Chop (shop #30) - incredible 36 year old pork chop recipe and amazing vegetable dishes.
A-Po Ancient Store (1963)- fried sticky rice balls and mango ice
Coazaiguo - sticky rice paste snack
Rejoice Cafe - Christian burgers
Pepper Cake - green onion meat bun

The Best Street Food in Taiwan is in Ruifang!
Don't believe the hype of street food in Taipei, they are overpriced and not as authentic as what we experienced in Ruifang. A must visit for anyone truly interested in authentic Taiwanese street food
Don't believe the hype. The most authentic street food which was also the most affordable, was not in Shilin, Songshan, Jiufen, Keelung or the Ximending night markets. All night markets we went to and found the street food was hyped. Don't get me wrong, street food pretty much anywhere in Taiwan is great, but this food court in Ruifang, a short distance from a popular train station most tourists come to had the best street food.
It was definitely popular with the Asian tourists, but we didn't see western tourists as we didn't see it covered in a vlog. Don't take our word for it, if you're in Taiwan, try it for yourself. Loved it so much we went back twice.

DIY Tour from Taipei to Shifen, Jiufen, and Raohe Night Market Day 2 | #WhenJeRoams
2nd day of our Taipei Taiwan Tour is up!
DIY Tour from Taipei to Shifen, Jiufen and side trip to Raohe Night Market before heading back to Ximen.
1. From Taipei Main Station go to TRA (Taiwan Railway Administration) just follow the signs.
2. Look for the ticket counter and buy ticket direct to Shifen.
3. Go to Platform 4. There are two trains that passes the railway so check google for the right train number (trust me its accurate) type Taipei Main Station to Shifen.
4. Alight at Ruifang station and walk to Pingxi Line and wait for the train going to Shifen.
5. Walk to Shifen waterfalls.
5. Going to Jiufen from Shifen. Ride the train from Shifen station heading back to Ruifang station.
6. Exit at Ruifang station. In front, you will see Wellcome Superstore. Walk left to the bus station going to Jiufen. The bus station is right after the police station alongside with Wellcome Superstore.
7. Take bus 788, 827, or 1062 to Jiufen. Enjoy!
8. From Jiufen go to the bus station and ride the bus going to Ruifang station.
9. Buy a ticket to Songshan station and shop at Raohe Night Market. (You may also opt to buy ticket to Taipei Main Station if you want to skip Raohe Night Market)
10. Going back to hotel from Raohe Night Market there’s Green Line that will take you to Ximen or just transfer train depends on your hotel location.

EP10 Eating Taiwan: Jiufen Old Street, A-Mei Tea house & tea ceremony and Raohe Night Market
Loved our visit to Jiufen even thought it was a bit wet. Beautiful views and lots of traditional eats but it's definitely a tourist place. It was super crowded on the old street which is as expected from a tourist spot but worth a visit.
We took the bus from Taipei (with 1 change at the same stop) which was really easy and a fraction of the price of a tour. It took just over 1.5hrs and cost TW$116 = £3.
Raohe night market was my favourite night market in Taipei. It had a good mix of stalls and some great eats! It's also really easy to navigate as you walk up one side and back down the other.
Stand out item was the crispy fried seafood! You eat the shrimps and the crabs with the heads and the shells. It's super crispy and great seafood flavour.
Here are the details of the places we visited:
1. 九份老街 Jiufen Old Street
Jishan Street, Ruifang District, New Taipei City, Taiwan 224
2. 阿妹茶樓 A-MEI Tea House
224, Taiwan, New Taipei City, Ruifang District, 市下巷20號
3. 九份礦山豆花 Taro dumpling dessert
224, Taiwan, New Taipei City, Ruifang District, 新北市瑞芳區基山街4號
4. 九份李儀餅店 Li Yi pineapple cakes
18, Qiche Road, Ruifang District, New Taipei City, Taiwan 224
5. 饒河夜市 Raohe Night Market
Raohe Street, Songshan District, Taipei City, Taiwan 105

TOURIST TRAP!? JUIFEN TRAIN FROM TAIPEI TO RUIFANG STATION | Taiwan Travel Vlog 117, 2018
Visiting Jiufen Old Street, and taking the train from Taipei to Ruifang train station, was easier than expected. But is Juifen worth visiting in 2018? ⬇ Click 'Show More' to expand ⬇
Jiufen village is just a train ride away from Taipei Taiwan - but is it worth the travel? To get there we needed to catch the train to Ruifang station first, then grab a taxi to Jiufen old street. Pretty cheap and easy to do in the end.
The old street and streets are cool, it's interesting to see a different side to Taipei and Taiwan, but definitely watch the video to get our opinion on if you should bother with the travel from Taipei to Juifen in 2018.

新北市瑞芳黃金瀑布 Golden Waterfall,Ruifang (Taiwan)

Local Train Ride to Ruifang, Taiwan - A Simple Travel Review
The Taiwan Railway Administration (台灣鐵路管理局), commonly posted on signage as simply TRA is the main railway service in Taiwan, and provides convenient access to a large majority of locations all over Taiwan.
Be sure to arrive early for your scheduled train, as the layout of some stations is a bit awkward and the lack of clear signage sometimes makes it difficult to find the proper track.
Do not lose your ticket! Upon exiting the station, passengers are required to present their ticket. Passengers without a ticket must pay a fee equaling the maximum fare of the line to exit the station.
From Hsinchu to Ruifang, the Easycard can be used on all train classes, and is far more convenient than purchasing tickets. Be aware that reserved seating is not available when using the Easycard.
The large majority of visitors to Taipei will be using the train to visit destinations such as Keelung, Ruifang, Fulong, and Jiufen. These are northbound trains, and are accessible from Taipei Main Station, Songshan Station, and Nangang Station. Passengers visiting Keelung should bound Keelung-bound trains, and visitors to any other location should board any train except Keelung-bound trains. Most visitors wishing to travel south along the west coast prefer to use the High Speed Rail (台灣高鐵).
Standard train service is generally referred to simply as train, or 火車 huǒchē, while the High Speed Rail is referred to as 高鐵 gāotiě.

We went all the way to Pingxi 平溪 to do lanterns. However, we were spontaneously side tracked at Ruifang 瑞芳 by the beautiful torch festival. We ended off the night by releasing lanterns into the sky at Pingxi 平溪.
