Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts Tour - UEA
Here's a short video about the Sainsbury Centre at UEA and the amazing sculptures on campus! I can safely say that the Sainsbury Centre is my favourite place at UEA and having it on campus is a wealth! It is such a cool, modern, calming and inspiring place that I visit regularly.

The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Art opened in 1978 and was designed by Norman Foster in order to host Lisa and Robert Sainsbury's art collection. It contains modern pieces of all kinds as well as older objects from all over the world and different centuries. There is something for everyone and isn't your conventional museum. It is such a shame so many people spend three years (or more) at university and never visit it! Entry to the museum is free and students pay half-price for the exhibitions in the mezzanine or downstair gallery. If you have never done so, I strongly encourage you to go :) You won't regret it!

Norwich - the best preserved English Tudor city
2 days in Norwich, England - Did not realise until we went to Norwich that from Medieval times until the industrial revolution Norwich was both the wealthiest and the second largest city in England. 57 churches stood within the city wall, 31 of the medieval churches still exist today, and seven are still used for worship plus there are 2 cathedrals. We started at the Sainsbury Centre and art gallery on the way into town. We visited St Giles church with its 1896 organ, walked along the recently renovated Wensum riverside walk past the Briton’s Arms and along the cobbled street of the Tudor Elm Hill, the most photographed crocked Augustine Stewart house and on to the 900 year old cathedral. Back along the river we passed Pull’s ferry, the Cow Tower, the new Jarrold bridge and the oldest pub in the city (would you Adam and Eve it) and on to the museum and art gallery in Norwich Castle. We toured Strangers’ Hall and finished with a visit to the 900 year old Market.

Thousands of well-wishers greeted the Queen as she arrived to visit at Fijian art exhibition at the Sainsbury Centre at the University of East Anglia. The crowds braved the cold to see her, and she was welcomed by a group of traditional Fijian warriors.

Sainsbury Centre for the Visual Arts
High-tech building by Foster Associates (Gherkin London, International Airport Hong Kong, Reichstag Berlin, Spaceport America) the Sainsbury Centre, Norwich (opened in 1978) houses the collection of Robert Sainsbury. The work ranges from early art to moderns such as Alberto Giacometti. Scenes from the sci-fi movie The Avengers: Age of Ultron have been shot here.

British architect Norman Foster recalls the challenges of designing the UK's pioneering high-tech art gallery, in this exclusive video interview filmed by Dezeen as part of our high-tech architecture series.
Located on the campus of the University of East Anglia in Norfolk, UK, the Sainsbury Centre for the Visual Arts is a 135-metre-long lattice steel structure with glazing at each end.
Completed in 1978, it was the first public building designed by Foster Associates – the architecture practice founded by Foster and his wife Wendy, which is now called Foster + Partners.
The gallery takes its name from the supermarket owners Robert and Lisa Sainsbury, who commissioned the building to house their extensive art collection alongside the University of East Anglia's art faculty.
With works spanning 5,000 years of creative history and ranging from Henry Moore sculptures to cultural artefacts from Asia and Africa, the collection operates as both an ancillary to the art school and a public exhibition space.

The Sainsbury Institute for Art (SIfA) is based in the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts at the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom. It is an umbrella organization that brings together the activities and expertise of the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, the School of World Art Studies and Museology (WAM), the Sainsbury Institute for the Study of Japanese Arts and Cultures (SISJAC) and the Sainsbury Research Unit for the Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas (SRU).
The Institute works to develop an integrated approach to art as a global phenomenon through a combination of disciplinary approaches, exhibitions and programming.SIfA was officially opened on 16 November 2011. Neil MacGregor, Director of the British Museum, gave the inaugural lecture. The institute's study area was designed by Foster and Partners.

We were commissioned by the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts (SCVA), Norfolk & Norwich Festival and Creative Arts Norfolk to create this vodcast for the exhibition entitled An Impossible Journey, which featured the work of Polish artist Tadeusz Kantor, one of the most extraordinary and versatile artists of the 20th century.
An Impossible Journey features theatrical objects, mannequins and drawings, alongside archival films of Kantor's productions, as well as stage designs and paintings.

From April 26th till July 20th, the exhibition Moore in Focus: A Friendship in Letters will display a selection of the never-before-seen correspondence between Henry Moore, one of the most famous British artists, and Sir. Robert Sainsbury, his patron and long time friend.

Norwich is a city on the River Wensum in East Anglia and lies about 100 miles north-east of London. Norwich is the regional administrative centre for East Anglia and county town of Norfolk. During the 11th century, Norwich was the largest city in England after London, and one of its most important. Norwich remained the capital of the most populous English county until the Industrial Revolution.
In May 2012, Norwich was designated England's first UNESCO City of Literature. Since 1298 Norwich has returned two members of parliament to the House of Commons. Until 1950 the city was an undivided constituency, returning two MPs. Since that date the area has been divided between two single-member constituencies: Norwich North and Norwich South.

Norwich stands north of the A47 (bypassed to the south of the city), which connects it with Great Yarmouth to the east, and Kings Lynn and Peterborough to the west. Norwich railway station lies east of Norwich city centre, and is managed by Abellio Greater Anglia. The bus companies serving Norwich include Anglian Bus, First Norfolk & Suffolk, Konectbus, Sanders and Stagecoach Norfolk. Norwich International Airport is a feeder to KLM's Schiphol hub. FlyBe, Eastern Airways, and Bristow Helicopters all serve Norwich.

Norwich Cathedral is an English
Norwich Cathedral is an English cathedral located in Norwich, Norfolk, dedicated to the Holy and Undivided Trinity. It is the cathedral church for the Church of England Diocese of Norwich and is one of the Norwich 12 heritage sites.
The cathedral was begun in 1096 and constructed out of flint and mortar and faced with a cream-coloured Caen limestone. A Saxon settlement and two churches were demolished to make room for the buildings. The cathedral was completed in 1145 with the Norman tower still seen today topped with a wooden spire covered with lead. Several episodes of damage necessitated rebuilding of the east end and spire but since the final erection of the stone spire in 1480 there have been few fundamental alterations to the fabric,More Info
