Iron Church Sveti Stefan
Az Sveti Stefan kilise When the iron church is mentioned, there is almost no Bulgarian heart that is not excited. This monumental church with a glorious past is the pride and trust of all who feel Bulgarian, no matter where they live.
Er Golden Horn gibi This church, which rises on the shore of the Golden Horn, in the Fener district, attracts such attention as a pearl in the crown of the old and eternal city. The land donated by Prince Stefan Bogoridi and the wooden house on it is converted into a church with the voluntary assistance of the Bulgarians in Istanbul. The church, which was consecrated with a liturgy in Slavic language on 9 October 1849, and two years later, the metoh building became the cradle of the awakening of the cultural and religious consciousness of the Bulgarians. The edict dated 28 February 1870, when the Bulgarians were first recognized as a separate religious community within the borders of the Ottoman Empire, was first read here, and shortly thereafter, another expedition established the Bulgarian expedition.
Instead of the wooden church burned in 1898, the Iron church is still standing today. The architect of the project is Hovsep Aznavour. The manufacturer and builder are Rudolf von Wagner in Vienna, Austria . A total of 500 tonnes of iron was cast and the parts were combined. The pieces of the building cost 4,000,000 silver pieces. The sherds were transported from Vienna via the Danube and the Straits. The church was blessed and worshiped by Ekzarh Yosif on 08. September 1289.
Sveti Stefan is the only iron church in the world. The church, which is shaped as 3 domes and crosses, attracts attention with its richness of tooth decorations. The mihrabis facing the Golden Horn. The bell tower is above the entrance gate and 40 meters high. The six bell bells in the bell tower were all cast in the city of Yaroslavl, Russia. The wooden iconostas, built in the style of modern renaissance, is an example of excellence and elegance. Church objects and icons donated by philanthropists have great historical significance.
Today Iron Church Sveti Stefan remains one of the greatest symbols of Bulgarian religious belief.

ISTANBUL'S ONLY CHURCH (THE BULGARIAN) MADE OUT OF 100% CAST IRON (TURKEY) ⛪
SUBSCRIBE: -Let's go to Istanbul, Turkey, and let's visit the famous Bulgarian Church (also known as the Bulgarian Iron Church) which is a Bulgarian Orthodox church made of prefabricated cast iron elements in the neo-Gothic style. The church belongs to the Bulgarian minority in the city. The richly ornamented church is a three-domed cross-shaped basilica. The altar faces the Golden Horn and a 40 m-high belfry, the six bells of which were cast in Yaroslavl, rises above the narthex. Initially, a small wooden church was erected on the shore of the Golden Horn between Balat and Fener squares (near Eyüp District), where the current church is located. The church was completed in 1898 and inaugurated by Exarch Joseph on 8 September that year.
Istanbul is a major city in Turkey that straddles Europe and Asia across the Bosphorus Strait. Its Old City reflects cultural influences of the many empires that once ruled here. In the Sultanahmet district, the open-air, Roman-era Hippodrome was for centuries the site of chariot races, and Egyptian obelisks also remain. The iconic Byzantine Hagia Sophia features a soaring 6th-century dome and rare Christian mosaics.
Turkey is a nation straddling eastern Europe and western Asia with cultural connections to ancient Greek, Persian, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman empires. Cosmopolitan Istanbul, on the Bosphorus Strait, is home to the iconic Hagia Sophia, with its soaring dome and Christian mosaics, the massive 17th-century Blue Mosque and the circa-1460 Topkapı Palace, former home of sultans. Ankara is Turkey’s modern capital.
