Salem, the witch town of Massachusetts
Salem is a city in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States.
The so-called City of Witches (Witch City) because of the trials that took place in the year 1692, is located on the US Atlantic coast, 25 km north of Boston.
The city owes its growth to its strategic port, which acquired important influence during the peak of commercial traffic with Africa, India, Russia, Sumatra and China; in the eighteenth century and the beginning of the nineteenth. Recently, and taking into account its history, as its rich architecture of the aforementioned period- (recognized aspects both locally and internationally), it was granted the status of National Historical Heritage. There are more than 60 restaurants, coffee shops and coffee shops in the center of the city.
Salem receives more than one million visitors a year, who come from all over the world. This city concentrates a great part of the historical places of the state of Massachusetts, in addition to museums, cultural activities, fine restaurants and select businesses.
The Samuel McIntyre Historic District consists of four hundred and seven buildings. It is the largest agglutination of buildings in colonial America in the United States. Inside it is McIntyre's own house. Samuel McIntyre, or McIntire, (January 16, 1757 February 6, 1811) was an American architect and craftsman. It is a prime example of federal style architecture. He developed most of his work in his hometown, Salem, Massachusetts.
Known as The people of witches, Salem is a city located in the state of Massachusetts that is currently visited by thousands of tourists intrigued by terrifying stories that are woven on that place.
The event that gave rise to the fame of witch people to Salem occurred in 1962, when the settlers began a witch hunt that ended with the imprisonment of more than 150 men and women.
This hunt began in January of that year, after the daughter of the Reverend Samuel Parris fell ill. The diagnosis of the doctor was that they had bewitched her.
That provoked a mass hysteria in Salem that caused 13 women and 6 men to be condemned to the gallows, accused of practicing witchcraft and performing satanic rites.
At present, there is a museum dedicated to explain this event, and a tour that takes tourists to visit the sites related to the witch hunt.

Salem Massachusetts (MA) Real Estate Tour
-- Tour Salem, MA neighborhoods, condominium developments, subdivisions, schools, landmarks, recreational areas, and town offices.
Salem, Massachusetts is one of the oldest and most storied towns in the state. Founded at the mouth of the Naumkeag River in 1626, Salem originally encompassed most of present-day Danvers, Beverly and Peabody. By 1790, Salem was the sixth largest city in the country, and a world famous seaport—particularly in the China trade. Codfish was exported to the West Indies and Europe. Sugar and molasses were imported from the West Indies, tea from China, and pepper from Sumatra.
Prosperity would leave the city of Salem with a wealth of fine architecture, including Federal style mansions designed by Samuel McIntire, for whom the city's largest historic district is named.
Today, Salem is perhaps best known as the site of the infamous Salem Witchcraft Trials of 1692. Though the hearings led to more than 150 convictions and 29 executions, the attention garnered by this peculiar incident left Salem with a formidable cultural legacy. Forever shrouded in the myths and legends of America's early days, Salem offers a wealth of architectural treasures, a wide variety of museums and a sparkling literary heritage.
In addition to its many fine historical and cultural attractions, the city of Salem is home to Salem State College, the North Shore Medical Center, the Essex County District Superior and Probate Courts, and Registry of Deeds, the world-famous Peabody and Essex Museum, and a host of banks and other financial institutions. It is the educational, medical, legal, cultural and banking hub of the North Shore. For other town tours visit . For towns in MA visit . For MA relocation information go to . Salem, Massachusetts
Salem is a city in Essex County, Massachusetts, in the United States. The population was 41,340 at the 2010 census. Salem and Lawrence were the county seats of Essex County prior to the abolishment of county government in 1999. Home to Salem State University , the Salem Willows Park and the Peabody Essex Museum , Salem is a residential and tourist area which includes the neighborhoods of Salem Neck, The Point, South Salem and North Salem, Witchcraft Heights, Pickering Wharf, and the McIntire Historic District (named after Salem's famous architect and carver, Samuel McIntire) . Salem was one of the most significant seaports in early America.
Featured notably in Arthur Miller's The Crucible, much of the city's cultural identity is reflective of its role as the location of the Salem witch trials of 1692: Police cars are adorned with witch logos, a local public school is known as the Witchcraft Heights Elementary School, the Salem High School athletic teams are named the Witches; and Gallows Hill, a site of numerous public hangings, is currently used as a playing field for various sports. Tourists know Salem as a mix of important historical sites, New Age and Wiccan boutiques, kitschy Halloween, witch-themed attractions and a vibrant downtown that has more than 60 restaurants, cafes and coffee shops. In 2012, the Retailers Association of Massachusetts chose Salem as the recipient of their inaugural Best Shopping District award.

Most people immediately think of the 1692 witch trials when they think of Salem, Massachusetts. But the town has a rich history far beyond those events, from its maritime and literary roots to some of the birth of the National Guard and the first urban planning in North America.

Squeeze Tours The U.S.: “I Think That We're, Probably, a Popular Cult Band”
Squeeze Tours The USA: “I Think That We're, Probably, a Popular Cult Band”
NOTE: Thanks to our subscribers who caught our mistake on Chris' name. I haven't spoken the guys name out loud in 20 years but still got it wrong with a script right in front of me. LOL
August 20, 2019 – It's the 40th anniversary of the two main singer/songwriters and co-founders Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook. The band came in big with their self titled debut album in 1978 but it was their sophomore album, “Cool for Cats” the following year that had some critics comparing Difford and Tilbrook to Lennon and McCartney – this is usually the kiss of death. There were three British hits on that second album, “Up the Junction,””Slap and Tickle” plus the title tune. So far Squeeze has had 12 hits in England and only 2 in the U.S. “Hourglass” from 1987 and “853-5937 the following year though tunes like “Pulling Mussels (From the shell),” “Tempted” and “Cool for Cats” got loads of airplay on FM radio.
Difford told Billboard Magazine they don't always feel that they did the best versions of tunes when they recorded them so expect some changes on their US tour. (they are in Englewood, NJ. Tonight, I don't like looking backwards, mostly, but this being the object of the tour, it was really lovely to do that. To examine the songs and treat them like they were new songs. Some of the versions aren't exactly like the records and probably, where we didn't like the records, they sound a bit different.
Both singer/songwriters have had their own solo careers and that's helped them stay together. Difford said, I think we've managed to get this far by just giving ourselves a lot of space. We don't see each other from one tour to the next and or from one record to the next, and I think that distance and that gap gives you renewed enthusiasm. And a desire to be back in the band that you started when you were 17 years old.” Tilbrook adds, I think that the key to maintaining our partnership is trying our best to work together and I will always be honest with Chris. I've always said that Chris Difford was my biggest influence. I don't believe that any artist can part and parcel themselves up because you either give your all to something or you don't, and we've always given our all to everything we've worked on.
Interestingly Tilbrook, even after 15 albums, doesn't consider Squeeze a heritage act adding, I think that we're, probably, a popular cult band. We never certainly had mass success here at any one time. On the east coast and in the Midwest, maybe Chicago, and the west coast. But we have a hardcore group of people that like us. I'll tell you that there's an interesting thing about streaming now is that there's a whole bunch of kids that are coming to our shows that have nothing to do with parents, I believe. They've discovered us for themselves, because with streaming you just have this whole buffet of stuff.
The guys also said that, Selling records and chart positions is something from the past, like a language I'd almost forgotten about. I suppose as songwriters we're a bit like watchmakers: people don't want new watches anymore but they still want to read the time.” - by John Beaudin

Massachusetts - United States
Massachusetts is a state in the New England region of the northeastern United States. It is bordered by Rhode Island and Connecticut to the south, New York to the west, and Vermont and New Hampshire to the north; at its east lies the Atlantic Ocean. Massachusetts is the 7th smallest, but the 14th most populous and the 3rd most densely populated of the 50 United States. Massachusetts features two separate metropolitan areas: Greater Boston in the east and the Springfield metropolitan area in the west. Approximately two-thirds of Massachusetts' population lives in Greater Boston. Generally the Greater Boston boundary is regarded as the Atlantic Ocean to the east and areas just north, west, and south of Interstate 495 to the west, north, and south. Western Massachusetts features one urban area - the Knowledge Corridor along the Connecticut River - and a mix of college towns and rural areas. Many of Massachusetts' towns, cities, and counties have names identical to ones in England. Massachusetts is the most populous of the six New England states and has the nation's sixth highest GDP per capita.
