Sandbanks Ferry (Poole - Studland) by drone 4K
Sandbanks Ferry is a vehicular chain ferry which crosses the entrance of Poole Harbour in the English county of Dorset. The route runs from Sandbanks to Studland and in doing so connects the coastal parts of the towns of Bournemouth and Poole with Swanage and the Isle of Purbeck. This avoids a 25-mile journey by road on a return trip.[1]
The ferry, along with the road that connects with it on the Studland side, is owned by the Bournemouth - Swanage Motor Road and Ferry Company, which initiated the ferry crossing in 1923, and a toll is charged for use of both road and ferry. The current toll for a car is £4.10 each way. The current ferry boat, named Bramble Bush Bay, was put into service in 1994 and can carry up to 48 cars. It is the fourth vessel to operate on the route.[1]
The entrance to Poole Harbour is a particularly busy waterway, used by many private and leisure craft along with commercial vessels including large ferries serving routes to France. This often affects the ability of the ferry to maintain its nominal 20 minute frequency. More Bus cross the ferry frequently throughout the day, on route 50 from Bournemouth to Swanage.

The chain ferry between Sandbanks and Shell Bay.
The present ferry, Bramble Bush Bay, came into service in January 1994, it is the fourth ferry to operate this service since the Bournemouth-Swanage Motor Road and Ferry Company came into being in July 1923 following an Act of Parliament.
The ferry, 242 feet in length, has a nominal capacity of 48 cars.
Propulsion is diesel-hydraulic.

Brownsea Island Ferry Around Poole Harbour,Sandbanks,Shell Bay,Furzey
Cruising from Poole Quay in Poole, near Bournemouth, Dorset around Poole Harbour - one of the largest natural harbours in the world, with an average depth of just two metres.
The cruise takes in views of Sandbanks; one of the most expensive places for property in the world. Also the many islands in the harbour; including Brownsea Island (also known as Branksea), Green Island, Furzey Island, and Round Island.
The cruise boat also passes Lilliput, the entrance to Poole Harbour, Goathead Point, and one of the old Sandbanks to Shell Bay chain ferries, which is now being used as a floating oyster processing and seeding plant.

Sandbanks Ferry to Shell Bay Dorset
A short hop from Sandbanks to Shell Bay, Dorset and it only costs £1 each way for pedestrians and cyclists.
The Ferry runs around every twenty minutes from 7am to 11pm and it's a great way to go to explore the likes of Studland, Swanage, Corfe Castle, etc. The ferry crossing time is only around four minutes.
