A beautiful church ( Scots Church in english ), immediately recognizable from the outside, with various external works and beautiful bell towers. Internally perhaps one of the most beautiful churches in all of Vienna, with an enormous amount of frescoes and beautiful paintings and statues.Unfortunately during my visit was closed and I could only film the interior of the church from the outside.

Фрайюнг – одна из известнейших площадей в венском Старом городе. В 12 веке ирландские монахи основали здесь монастырь (Schottenstift), который действует поныне и находится здесь же, рядом с Шотландской церковью (Schottenkirche).
The Freyung is a triangular public square, located in centre of Vienna. The square originally lay outside the Roman fortification walls of Vendabona. In the 12th century, Irish monks arrived by invitation of Duke Henry II of Austria to build a monastery. The monastery is called Schottenkloster, meaning Scottish Monastery, as Ireland at that time was known as New Scotland. The square around Schottenkloster was known as bei den Schotten (at the Scots). The name Freyung has its origin from the old German word frey, meaning free.

Vienna, Austria: Around the Freyung and Minoriten neighborhoods in the historic core

There are may squares in the old city of Vienna. Freyyung is one of the most interesting squares, surrounded by palaces like the Plais Harrach and the Palais Kinsky, in baroque style from the ealy 18th century. The Schottenkirche (Schotten church) and Schottenkloster (Schotten monastery) are also located in the Freyung. The church was rebuilt in baroque style in the mid 17th century.

The Minoritenplatz is one of the oldest squares in Vienna and is dominated by the Minoritenkirche church, after which the square is named. The square is surrounded by imposing baroque palaces like the Palais Lichtenstein, the Palais Niederösterreich and the Palais Starhemberg. Minoritenkirche is a gothic church built in the 14rh century.

VIENNA - Piaristenkirche ( Church of Maria Treu )

Video showing interiors ( unfortunately very dim lit ) and exteriors of Piaristenkirche (Piarist Church in english) . This church is also known as the Church of Maria Treu.
The church was built between 1698 and 1719 and its name derives from a miraculous painting, Maria Treu, which was painted by Josef Herz, on the occasion of the plague of 1713, which was then placed in the chapel of the Addolorata in the church. From 1721 the church took its name from this painting.
Inside the church there is a masterpiece by Franz Anton Maulbertsch: five frescoes on the dome, made by the important Austrian baroque painter from 1752 and 1753.
