Swimming with a stingray in Destin Florida
I pulled a piece of fishing line about 12 feet long off of this dude. It was covered in seaweed, and had 4lbs. of lead weights dragging behind him. He must have appreciated the help, because he let me swim with him for over an hour afterward. He was between 3-3.5 feet long nose to tail. This was filmed in Sand Destin Florida in about 6 feet of water, June 2014

Catch Destin Florida Sharks Aboard Pescador III - Captain Mike Whitley
If you have never been shark fishing then Destin in Florida is the place to go. Aboard the Charter Boat Pescador III, Captain Mike Whitley will take you out into the Gulf of Mexico to hunt for duskies, hammerheads, makos, spinner sharks and bull sharks amongst others.
Shark fishing is not about bringing home something for dinner - federal laws state that many species be released in any event - but all about doing battle with one of the most fearsome predators on the planet. Reeling in 50lbs of angry shark is not for the faint-hearted and also requires no mean amount of strength.
Fishing for Destin Florida sharks is also a waiting game. Contrary to popular opinion which would have us believe that sharks live on the surface of the water with that triangular dorsal fin protruding, sharks actually feed at some depth. It is a matter of baiting four inch hooks with bonita and mackerel, dropping the lines and then throwing out chum - a mixture of fish chunks, blood and oils.
Then you wait. And throw out some more chum. And wait some more.
Then suddenly a rod bends double and you have a fight on your hands. A shark pulls steadily until it nears the surface, rather than thrashing about, but nonetheless you have got a lot of fish on the other end of your line and you can quite easily be working for 15 or 20 minutes until your quarry breaks the surface. And it may not just be a fifty pounder. Big makos have been caught off Destin up to 700lbs.
