Seward Street Slides in San Francisco I Science in the City I Exploratorium
Come out to play on the concrete slides at Seward Street Mini Park in the Castro. A series of speed tests guided by physicist Paul Doherty takes on the question asked by sliders everywhere: How can I go faster?
Seward Street Slides in San Francisco, California
Built in the 1960s and designed by a local teenager, the slides are still relatively secret in San Francisco, California. Built into a lush hillside on one of San Francisco’s steepest hills, the Seward Street Slides are twin, two-story cement slides that fully take advantage of the near vertical incline.

Seward Street Slides in San Francisco
The Seward Street Slides. The best thing I did during my two-day-stay at San Francisco. Here are some photos of the slides:
Seward Mini Park Slides in San Francisco
The mini park is located on Seward Street at Acme Alley. The double barrel slides are made of concrete. While the surface is mostly smooth, there are some rough spots. Don't slide down without protection unless you want a hole in your pants or a scuff mark on your butt. There are plenty of cardboards, carpets and even plastic trays lying around. Use them to protect your butt. Try the plastic trays last because it may slide down too fast and shoot you off the end of the slide. Keep your arms and hands close to your body because the side walls may scuff your knuckles when you panic. Play safe!

San Francisco's Secret Cement Slides at Seward Mini Park
San Francisco has many secrets and one of them is the cement slides at the Seward Mini Park. These steep two lane bobsled style slides formed of concrete are sure to put a smile on your face as you race to the sandy landing two stories below!
Tip: Bring some cardboard to sit on, or try your luck and see if any was left behind.
Nestled in between the Castro, Noe Valley, and Twin Peaks, on Seward Street, between Douglas Street and 19th Street, the park also features a community garden and amazing views of the city. This little park was once destined to be another big apartment building, but the neighborhood fought for a park and won. The slides were designed by 14-year-old Kim Clark, who won a contest put on by sculptor Ruth Asawa.

Buyer Preview: 51 Seward, San Francisco, CA - Atop Seward!
Join me, Kevin Ho of Vanguard Properties in San Francisco, as I walk through this fixer property at 51 Seward located atop Seward Street in perched above the Castro District/Eureka Valley just a stone's throw away from the Seward Street Slides. The first thing you'll notice is that the property has scale, Edwardian details and big, big views. And unlike many fixers, this one has a good floor plan as is. There's a huge deck in the back (with views) and there's an in-law unit below that can serve as a rental unit or an actual in-law unit. There's stuff to do of course, but the bones are great and the potential is greater.
Video walk-through tour is by Kevin K. Ho of Vanguard Properties.
