Badavilinga shivling Hampi
The Badavilinga Temple in Hampi has the largest monolithic Shiva Linga in Hampi. The Shiva Linga has a three eye mark drawn on it in line carving. The three eye mark depicts the three eyes of Lord Shiva.
The beautiful Linga is made of black stone. It has a height of 3 meters. It is believed that the temple has been in existence since the period of the Vijayanagara Empire. Devotees come here from far and near to worship the Shiva Linga.
Legend Associated with Badavilinga Temple, Hampi
The name Badavilinga is a combination of two words – Badva and Linga. In the local language Badva means poor and Linga represents Shiva. Legend has it that the Shiva Linga placed inside the temple was commissioned by a poverty-stricken peasant woman. Hence the temple came to be known as Badavilinga Temple.
Interesting Facts about Badavilinga Temple, Hampi
The huge Shiva Linga of the Badavilinga Temple is situated inside a small stone chamber. There is a single opening in front of the chamber through which devotees can get in. An interesting thing to note about the design of the stone chamber is that it has no ceiling. During the day time, sunlight enters through the opening in the ceiling and floods the Shiva Linga with light.
The Shiva Linga has a large pedestal that is circular in shape. It is the yone pitha of the Shiva Linga. This circular pedestal draws into an outlet, also known as pranala. The pedestal of the Shiva Linga stands on a bed of water. This is due to the fact that the shrine always remains filled with water as a water channel flows through it.
According to devotees, the base of the Shiva Lingam is submerged in water as it depicts the arrival of the holy river Ganges on earth and its flow is controlled by Lord Shiva.
Underground Shiva Temple and Secret Council Chamber - Hampi, India

Hey guys, today we are going to look at the Underground Shiva Temple at Hampi. This is considered one of the oldest temples in Hampi and you can see that it is constructed under the ground level. If we go inside the temple, it just keeps getting deeper and deeper and the deepest part contains the main chamber which holds the lingam. This temple was completely buried under the ground for many centuries before it was discovered in 1980s and it was then excavated. There is a reason why this temple is not visited by most tourists, it has water inside almost throughout the year, and locals say there are snakes in the water - this is why no one comes. But let's go inside and see what we can find in the main chamber. It is also pitch black inside, so I am using my headlamp. This is the main chamber and you can see right away that the original lingam is gone, and a new lingam has been placed. The newer cylindrical structure is merely placed on top of the ancient square base, this is not how ancient lingams look. There are insects crawling on the floor near the lingam, but there is something much more interesting on the ceiling. On the ceiling, we can see a lot of bats hanging upside down. This is a very common sight with many of these ancient temples in India. But this video is not about bats, and we can see a very interesting geometric pattern carved exactly above where the ancient lingam would have once stood. Two concentric circles placed inside a rhombus, which is placed inside a square- Which in turn is again, placed inside a rhombus. These dark stain marks are because of the bats. What must have once been a spectacular temple is now completely in ruins.
Now of course the question is, WHY? Why did ancient builders create this structure under the ground level? Imagine this for a minute, if historians are right, building such a temple would be a monstrous task in ancient times. They would have to dig for a great depth and put these humongous granite base and pillars which would have taken years, and during these years of construction, they would have realized that there would always be water. This is summer time, so there is just a foot of water, but in rainy seasons, you would have a lot more of stagnant water. So in spite of all this, why did they create such a structure underground?
Local historians tell a very interesting story, even some archeologists accept this theory: This temple was created for secret rituals, reserved only for the members of the royal family. The temple is just one end of the underground structure. So where is the other end? The other end is actually situated about half a mile from the Underground Shiva temple, this place is called the Secret Council Chamber and here you can see the entrance to this structure, which is again, located underground. This is a very strange underground area made of solid black slabs of stone, you can walk inside and even today, it could serve as an underground bunker. There are several passages, and archeologists have removed the top part of this structure, at a few places. Many intriguing statues of ancient gods have also been unearthed. This is the beauty of India, they had these massive secret underground facilities all over ancient sites.
It seems just like regular ground, all these people are walking, but there are huge underground structures built right below their feet, waiting to be excavated. So, if you were a royal member in ancient times, you could just walk from the underground Shiva temple to here or the other way round, without anyone noticing you.
What we are missing is the actual tunnel which connects the secret council chamber and the Underground Shiva Temple. I hope to find the actual tunnel some day, but until then, this remains just an unconfirmed theory. I hope you liked this video, I am Praveen Mohan, thanks a lot for watching. [Eps. 14.3] A WALK TO HAMPI TEMPLE - UNDERGROUND SHIVA TEMPLE - Bajaj Avenger Street 220 (2015)
Shot On :
Gimble Used :
This temple dedicated for Lord Siva was built many meters below the ground level. For this reason, almost all the time the sanctum and the core parts of the temple are under water, restricting entry to the inner areas.
A water canal system too is visible around the main temple. But this canal is dry and you can walk down to a point from where it’s impossible to go further. There is a small temple for Siva’s consort too near the mail shrine. The Kalyanamantapa (ceremonial marriage hall) is a great looking structure. It has been believed that this is one of the oldest temples in Hampi.
View of the main hall in front of the shrine. The main tower too can be seen Your entry to the temple passes through the main tower in front of the temple campus. It looks like this tower was an addition done later on and was never completed. A series of wide large steps along the axis of the tower and the sanctum leads you to the inner part of the temple. The main hall in front of the shrine is huge with massive cubical pillars supporting the roof. The lamppost actually protrudes through the roof. Depending upon the water level you may be able to proceed to the sanctum area.
There is a beautiful lawn built around the temple. Usually a less crowded location, the outside (and to some extend the top portions) of this temple you can survey by going around this lawn.
The Underground temple is located somewhat close to the main road (to Hampi bus station) and near the Noblemen’s Quarters. A byroad going towards the Hazara Rama Temple passes through this area.
No admission fee. Reserve about 30 minutes to explore the temple. Temple closes in the evening. A man sells soft drinks and bottled water usually setup his kiosk in front of this temple. Otherwise you would not find any such stalls in this locality.

1700 Year Old 'Negative Lingam' - Secret Sankara Stones Inside?
Instagram................
Twitter......................
Facebook..............
Website....................
Hey guys, here is a very strange structure in Sri Lanka, which looks like a massive key hole and has many weird stories attached to it. Archeologists estimate it was built around 300 A.D, so it is at least 1700 years old, but it could be much older than that. While experts argue that it is just a water well, locals point out to the strange features of this well. When you look at it from the top, it definitely feels different from any other structure you have ever seen.
Locals call this a ' negative lingam'. I have shown you many lingams in my channel, it is a cylindrical structure set up on a circular base with a projection at one end and represents Lord Shiva. But what is a 'Negative Lingam'? If we take a lingam and imagine everything that is solid is empty, and everything that is empty is solid, we would get a negative lingam. The easiest way to understand this is to think of casting metal objects. Imagine how the hollow cast would look, if we want to make a cylinder. If we fill this entire structure with clay, and then pull out the clay after it dries up, it would be a perfect lingam. So technically we should call this the Inverse Lingam or the Female of a Lingam, but locals refer to this a Negative Lingam. While a lingam is considered a source of energy, this one, the negative lingam is said to absorb all energy, similar to a black hole. This is actually referred to as a 'Yoni' in ancient Sanskrit Texts, and the Yoni is capable of holding any number of lingams and yonis inside of it.
It is said that Ravana, a great ruler of Sri Lanka, built this and created a secret chamber which is buried deep underneath. He hid a crystal lingam inside this chamber, and this crystal is said to act as a receiver of energy.
In a previous video I showed you how an ancient Stupa in Sri Lanka also uses crystal to receive such signals. People who live here, insist that director Steven Spielberg took the story of this crystal lingam and made up the concept of 'Sankara Stones'. There is no way to confirm if Spielberg actually visited this particular place, but he shot this movie, Temple of Doom in Sri Lanka. So, there is a very good chance that the glowing Sankara Stones were inspired by this crystal lingam which is supposed to be buried inside. And I am told that there are 7 such negative lingams placed all over this city and each one contains a crystal lingam buried inside.
But why did ancient builders create 7 inverse Lingams, and why did they put a 'Sankara Stone' inside each one? Nobody knows the answer to this, but there is a strange connection between this structure, and the stargate I showed you in a previous video. The stargate is just 2 miles away from the negative lingam we saw. In the center of this stargate, we can see 7 concentric circles. Is this a coincidence, or is this indicating the use of 7 negative lingams? This negative lingam itself contains exactly 7 concentric circles, if you look at it from the top, you will see it as 7 concentric circles. There are also lingam like figures carved on the stargate itself. Perhaps, we can get some real answers if we dive inside, and get a hold of these crystal lingams, may be they have inscriptions, or the buried chambers may even contain maps or detailed explanations on what all these things really mean.

1000 Year Old Lost Lingam Found? Forgotten Hindu Ruins of Cambodia

Website....................
Hey guys, today I am driving into some of the remote parts of Cambodia, this area is known as the Koh Ker Temple Complex which has at least 40 ancient Hindu temples, all of them built more than a thousand years ago. As I drive through this muddy road, there are several ruins appearing on either side, but somehow, I am drawn to this particular temple. As I walk in, I am surprised at how terribly destroyed this temple is, it is completely in ruins. There are huge stone blocks strewn all over the ground. This usually means this temple was intentionally destroyed by human beings, due to invasion or religious faith, or looting.
As I climb up to see what is inside, I see a wooden door which is placed to prevent animals from entering. Looking through the gate, I am mesmerized by this gigantic lingam, it is huge, both in terms of height and width.
I open the gate, and go inside. I am immediately tempted to touch the lingam with my hands, it has a weird feel to it. When I tap it on it, the lingam feels hollow, as though I am tapping on a wooden board. But all temples in this area are made of Sandstone, including this one. Look at the top portion of the lingam, how perfectly it is shaped like a dome. How did they achieve this without advanced tools? Comparing my height with it, you would think this lingam is about 7 feet tall.
On this side, we can see this straight line carved out. What is the purpose of this? This is designed to make liquids flow in a certain direction. Once upon a time, Milk, Honey and Water would have been poured on top of this lingam as ritual and the liquids would flow down through this area. And then what would happen to the liquid? You see this trapezoidal hole cut in the wall? The Lingam will be connected to this outlet, so all the liquid will go outside the temple, and it will be typically collected in a container.
Look at how the lingam has cracked. We can see two very large cracks. Are they natural or was this Lingam deliberately destroyed by human beings? Look at this area on top of the lingam, intentional chiseling, done later, in an attempt to destroy it. But this is nothing when we observe the base. Half of the base in the front has been cut, and removed. Why was such destruction done? Because the enemies knew Hindus would stop worshiping lingams and other idols once their original design was destroyed. Hindus believe that these lingams emit spiritual energy and that energy becomes distorted once the original structure is altered.
Let us go around and see what is on the other side. Now, from this side we can see the actual base of the lingam. What was saw in the front was actually a raised ground level, but here we are able to see how the base is designed because this is at a lower level.
Remember, I said the lingam looks about 7 feet tall from the front, the actual height is at least twice the height, this should be at least 14 feet tall. But if we dig inside the ground, you would see some other parts as well, because some parts of the lingam would have been traditionally buried in the ground, so the lingam would much more taller.

Badavilinga Temple in Hampi
Shivling at Kanyakumari Beach
Shivling in the southernmost beach of India in Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu.
Kanyakumari, formerly known as Cape Comorin, is a town in Kanyakumari District in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. Kanyakumari lies at the southernmost tip of mainland India.
Kanyakumari takes its name from the Hindu goddess Kanyakumari (also called Kumari Amman). Her temple stands on the shores of the Laccadive Sea. In his work on ancient India, Ptolemy had identified Kanyakumari (Cape of Comorin) along with the Gulf of Mannar as a center for pearl fishery. He also identifies Korkai, a place to the east of Kanyakumari as an emporium of pearl trade.
Since the early 1970s, tourism has been an important activity in the town. Because of this it is one of the few small towns in South India where one can hear many of the different languages of India spoken in the street.
Of late, the promotion of tourism has increased, with increasing emphasis on attractions outside the town, such as the surrounding landscapes, as well as the historical and religious sites found around the district. Ultimately a total of 1.9 million tourists (domestic and foreign) visited Kanyakumari in 2007.
Though there are several places of tourist-interest in the town and district, Kanyakumari is especially popular in India for its spectacular and unique sunrise and sunset, thanks to its being nearly surrounded by ocean waters. On balmy, full-moon evenings (locally called Chitra Pournami), one can also see the moon-rise and sunset at the same time.

How does the Hanging Pillar of India work? Anti-gravity? Levitation?

Hey guys, I am at Lepakshi temple in India, and I am gonna show you not just the mystery of the hanging pillar, but also show you exactly how it works. In this temple, you can see many people doing the same thing: Put a piece of cloth underneath and slide it around the other side, proving that the pillar is disconnected from the floor. This is considered one of the wonders of India, how did ancient people construct a huge pillar that defies gravity and is hanging in mid air?
These kind of mysteries always interest me, so I decided to visit the temple. Right from the start, I am fascinated by the carvings in this temple, like this cow for example, which shows multiple postures in the same sculpture. But that’s another video, so I end up at this hanging pillar which attracts thousands of tourists every day.
As you can see this is a huge block of granite around 20 feet tall, with brilliant carvings. Now, I just have to prove it to you that this pillar is disconnected from the floor. So, I ask this elderly couple who have come with a towel. Watch how they slide the towel on one side, and it goes all the way on the other side. This shows that ancient technology employed anti-gravity and levitation, because there is no way a 20 foot granite block which weighs many tons can hang in mid-air.
So, how does it actually work, and attract thousands of visitors every day? It works, because nobody is showing you the rest of the footage. We have dozens of videos of the this hanging pillar on YouTube, but nobody shows you what happens next: Here is what happens.
You can slide a piece of cloth through one end, but you cannot pull it out on the other end. If the pillar is completely disconnected from the floor, we should be able to pull the cloth on the other side. However, the cloth I slide is gonna get stuck in one of the corners. The pillar is not really hanging in mid air, because one of its corners is clearly resting on the floor, which is how it still stands. If you examine it closely, you can visually confirm this. The pillar does not employ anti-gravity or levitation.
So, did the ancient people create an imperfect pillar? Well it turns out that the British Government decided to do some repairs during pre-independence era, and attempted to remove the pillar. But they couldn’t, because it was fixed so perfectly, they could only dislodge it. They realized that removing this pillar is impossible, so they left it in this weird position. That is the true story behind this dislodged pillar. However, there is a bigger mystery in this temple, that needs to be decoded. Did Giants leave a footprint in this temple?

Ancient Lathe Machine Found in Hampi, India - Lost Technology Discovered?
Follow Me on:

Facebook............
Website....................
Hey guys, this is the ancient site of Hampi that has been abandoned for at least 500 years, and here we can see this rock that shows solid evidence of machining technology. These perfect circular marks on this rock can be produced only with machines. This process is called facing, and we use the same technology today using lathe machines. It is covered with dirt when I found it, so I cleaned it up. Now, If you look at these circles, they are perfectly concentric and there is no deviation, no chipping in the rock, very similar to modern day technology. The rectangular slot in the center proves that this rock was machined using lathe technology. So, how was this created at least 500 years ago, at a time when historians claim there was no such technology? Were ancient builders using high tech machines many centuries ago, just like today? If this is true, we should not only find finished products like this circular rock, but we should also find the entire mechanism that was able to create this finished product. Is it possible that the entire mechanism, the lathe itself can be found in the same area?
Now, if we take a step back and look at the entire picture, it has some very interesting components. It has two posts with circular holes near the top, which obviously means that a cylindrical rod was inserted between them, like this. This is a simple model that I am recreating, which I will show side by side, so you can understand this better. Nearby, we can see a long rectangular slab, with a hole in the center. When I measured the length of the slab, it matches exactly with the distance between the two posts. What does this mean? This means that the slab would fit perfectly between these posts. I am using this green rectangular styrofoam block which represents the slab in my model. So, the set up would look like this.
If a metal tool was placed on this cylinder, pointing downwards, it looks like a modern day vertical lathe machine. I am going to use a pen for the metal tool in my model. This rectangular slab would be the base plate on which circular rocks could be placed and machined. Here is a simple round object which represents the circular rock and I place it on the rectangular slab, and if I rotate the circular rock, and lower the tool from the top, we can create these identical tool marks. See the similarity of the circles between this model, and the actual rock. My model has not rotated on a perfect axis, so you see that the circles are not as good, but the work of ancient builders was perfect. This set up actually proves that ancient people used vertical lathe technology, at least 500 years ago.
What's even more interesting is that you can see some circular wear and tear on the base plate as well. Look at the base plate, you can see these half circular marks caused by the rotating objects which were placed on top of it. The other half shows no such tool marks, because these marks were created by accident, by friction from the rotating objects placed above. You can see the same marks beginning to form on my model as well.
All these evidences clearly prove that machining technology, specifically vertical lathe technology was used in India, at least 500 years ago, and some archeologists even say this site was built 2300 years ago. So, I think I have just discovered the oldest machining set up, known to mankind, and it is lying in plain sight, abandoned and covered in dirt.
