The Silent Valley reservoir supplies water to most of County Down, the surrounding Counties and a large portion of Belfast.
A perfect family day out for walking or a scenic drive along the Mourne coastal route taking you from Newcastle to Warrenpoint. There are plenty of places to stop along the way for a picnic, food, drink or to take in the beautiful surroundings of the Mournes in County Down.

Xiaomi Mi Drone 4K - Silent Valley : Mourne Mountains
Shot in 4K 25 fps.
This is 'Silent Valley' reservoir in the Mourne Mountains near Newcastle in Northern Ireland. A beautiful part of the world. Extremely tranquil and peaceful with great walks.
The day of filming was very cold, with 10-15mph winds. The Mi drone handled the winds exceptionally well with very stable images but struggled with the contrasting light from the dark ground to the bright sky.
Enjoy!
Spelga Dam Old Bridge And Road 2018 (Heatwave)
The recent heatwave in Northern Ireland has revealed a Victorian road and bridge that usually sit well below the waterline.
Spelga Dam, in the Mourne Mountains, is normally full to the brim with water stored to serve parts of counties Down and Armagh.
The extensive heatwave has revealed an old Victorian road and bridge at Spelga Dam
But the prolonged spell of warm weather has meant the water level has receded to show the old bridge and road that once ran through the area.
Hundreds of people have visited the dam to cross the usually-submerged road which dates back to the early 1800
