Casa Italia • Authentically Italian Cafe (Episode 1)
Here's your first look before famous Gelato house from Singapore officially opens its doors in manila.
How to Build a Resto: Casa Italia (Episode #1):
CHEF DONATO, F&B Director, Casa Italia:
Hello, I’m Donato. I’m from Rome, Italy, and I’m a chef from Casa Italia. I’m the chef that prepare all the bread, pizza, pasta, gelato, and all the delicious Italian food for Casa Italia.
Casa Italia, which means Italian House, started in Singapore as a gelato store. And slowly along the way, we started to make our own coffee—we roast our own coffee, and then after that we introduce as well the Italian food.
So we make our own bread and pizza, and all the pasta. So I will be here in Manila for conducting the training for the gelato training and for the food training. I will be here to meet all the suppliers because we want to make sure that all the ingredients that we use here are as good as the ones we’re using in Singapore as well—all the high quality ingredients. And then I will train the team here in Manila to follow step-by-step our recipes from the bread, to the homemade fresh pasta, and to all the gelato as well.
Today our gelato master is here from Singapore and we training how to scoop the gelato. Scooping gelato is something that needs practice, a lot of practice. So we bring in our gelato master—he’s been with Casa Italia for many years. And then we train the Manila team to make the best scooping: the best-looking gelato.
Our gelato is made with all top quality ingredients imported mostly from Italy—like the best pistachio from Sicily; we’re using a very high quality chocolate, Swiss milk. And then our coffee, we’re using three different beans that we bring in from South America: we have Honduras, Guatemala, and Brazil. And then we roast it in Singapore to make it into our unique blend.
Our roast for the coffee is medium roast, which is a very traditional Italian way. We don’t make the beans very dark, but we choose to make it medium to preserve more aromas.
Our food is also done in a very traditional Italian way. We are using Italian products, best cold cuts, from the Parma Ham to the Buffalo Mozzarella Cheese in our sandwiches, the best Norway Smoked Salmon, and all the bread are done by us in a very artisan way. Our pizza dough and our bread dough are made naturally and I let rest for 48hrs before we bake. So without using a lot of use, a lot is more natural-growing.
JAY TAN, Manila Franchise Owner, Casa Italia:
The reason why we brought Casa Italia to the Philippines is because of its vision. Meaning: using real, honest ingredients. A lot of people make gelatos, but not too many it the authentic, Italian way—which means, when we use flavors we use the actual fruits. For example: avocado flavors, we use actual avocados. We don’t use avocado powders. For pistachio, we use actual pistachio nuts from Bronte, Italy.
This is the vision of the founder. The owner’s vision is to create a very different concept, an authentic Italian concept that provides the best Italian comfort food. The pasta, spaghetti, roast chicken, gelato, and pizza. Here in the Philippines is the first time he can realize his full vision. We allowed him to be very creative in setting up, or designing the store. Our first store is in BGC. It’s located in Forbes Zone near Burgos Circle. It’s our flagship store—it’s about 200SQM, 2 floors, premium dining, but the prices are very, very affordable. It’s a very new concept, never seen before here in the Philippines. We partnered with one of the biggest Italian architectural firms and interior design firms for restaurants in Italy.
So it’s the first time I’ll be seeing anywhere in the world. We’ve been training for the past 2 or 3 weeks. Luckily, we have Chef Donato from Singapore with us and the gelato master, Timothy. So far everything is going smoothly, of course there are some hiccups. But one thing we noticed was the passion of our crew, our staff. If you notice, most of us here are all plus sizes. So if you don’t have this passion for food, you can’t work here, you can’t be here. So every week, we’ll probably gain 5 pounds. That’s probably from tasting gelato, 8-10 flavors a day. It’s been 2 weeks, so here we are. So far, everything’s going great. Hopefully when we open, we’re perfect.

Day 16: Rome, Italy - One day 16 of our round the world trip, it was our final day in Rome, Italy. We started the day visiting Mercato Testaccio, a delicious food market. After walking around and eating at the market, we then took an easy afternoon, before going to Galleria Borghese and having a delicious Italian dinner to finish the day.
00:38 Mercato Testaccio - Although it was a traditional old market in Rome, Mercato Testaccio has been remodeled and repositioned a couple of times to its current location, which is a modern open air market full of delicious fruits and vegetables and restaurants. It’s a great market for a Italian Rome food tour as it’s a friendly environment and there’s plenty of delicious food.
Fruit stall - First thing Ying and I decided to eat on the Rome food tour of the market is eat some rapes and cherries, which were fantastic. Price - 4.5 EUR ($5.04) total price
Mordi e Vai - Next I went to a food stall called Mordi e Vai, and he specializes in some classic Roman food dishes, which he then adds to sandwiches. I ordered the panino con picchiapo, which was a little plain, but pretty good. Price - 4.5 EUR ($5.04)
La Prosciutteria di Enzo e Lina - The absolute highlight of this Rome food tour at Mercato Testaccio was going to La Prosciutteria di Enzo e Lina and ordering some prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella. Everything was good and the owners are both extremely friendly and helpful. I only wish I could have spoken Italian. The prosciutto was fantastic, but I was really blown away with the quality and taste of the buffalo mozzarella. Prosciutto and mozzarella - 5.5 EUR ($6.16)
Zoé - After having some salty food, I was ready for a juice, so we had an apple lemon juice which was slow pressed, and it was extremely refreshing. Apple lemon juice - 3.5 EUR ($3.92)
Strit Fud - Final stop on this Rome food tour at Mercato Testaccio, and I ordered a Panino con il Lampredotto, some kind of a sandwich stuffed with tripe. It was a little on the plain side for me.
Panino con il Lampredotto price - 7.2 ($8.07)
12:22 Villa Borghese Gardens - After the great food at the market in the morning, we then headed over to Galleria Borghese, where I had pre-booked tickets online. Galleria Borghese is a museum in Rome, and it has some similarities to the Vatican City Museums, but it’s much more low key and not as busy. Especially if you love museums, you’ll love visiting Galleria Borghese in Rome. Online tickets - 14 EUR ($15.69) per person
15:34 Fiaschetteria Marini Restaurant - For dinner, we walked over to an Italian restaurant called Fiaschetteria Marini Restaurant. The family owned restaurant turned out to be a really amazing place, with friendly service, and excellent food. The gnocchi alla Fiaschetteria was particularly delicious, but their mezzemaniche alla Amatriciana was also fantastic. Total price - 34 EUR ($38.10)
It was a leisure day in Rome, we didn’t try to do too much, but we had a great time eating through Mercato Testaccio and our final Italian food meal in Rome.

Tutti Belli Risotorante Italian Arnaiz Avenue Makati by HourPhilippines.com
Tutti Belli which translates to all beautiful is an Italian Restaurant by Nico David and Chef Nono Bernas opened in July 2016 along Arnaiz Avenue. You don’t have to travel far to feel right at home at super cozy neighborhood joint and have a delightful Italian experience in Makati as they import majority of their ingredients to ensure the authenticity of their dishes. Our only gripe is that they use canned mushrooms but still have many other dishes worth having on their extensive menu. To start you will be served complimentary toasted bread, butter and chopped tomatoes which you can dip into olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
The Panizza is not as thin crust as the Original C’ Italian Dining version by Chef Chris Locher and we would have preferred to roll it ourselves but the actual toppings were flavorful.
For appetizers, we highly recommend their Prosciutto Crudo e Buffala which is a combination of Parma ham and buffalo mozzarella, baked oysters with béchamel spinach and cheese or their Fritto di Calamaretti. For a light salad their Insalate Cesare or their Scamorza with Zucchini eggplant and smoked cheese. The 2 soups we tried were amazing the acqua di mare had the full flavor of the sea and the seafood was fresh while the minestra de spinaci was heartwarming and delectable.
From the Pastas, must try are their Linguine Alle vongole, Linguine Scoglio, Fettuccine Scoglio with Lobster and Scallops and the Gnocchi di Spinaci. From their Risottos – Risotto ala Roma Risotto calamari Neri and Risotto Tartufo. Their Pizza is thin crust and crispy around the edges, we liked their Calabrese Picante, Stagioni and Schiachatte with anchovies, arugula, gorgonzola, mozzarella and truffle oil,
Don’t forget to save room for dessert as their Tiramisu is created with real Mascarpone Cheese

Italian Restaurants Orlando – Christinis Ristorante Italiano - (407) 545-6867
Italian Restaurants Orlando - Christinis Ristorante Italiano
Christinis Ristorante Italiano
7600 Dr Phillips Blvd, Orlando, FL 32819
(407) 545-6867
Best Italian Restaurant in Orlando
Located on Dr. Phillips Boulevard in the heart of the marketplace, Christini's is an Italian restaurant that goes above and beyond expectations of fine dining restaurants to establish itself as perhaps the best restaurant in Orlando, Florida. With over 40 years in the restaurant business, owner Chris Christine brings about special touches and exquisite dining options that rival even his tours with L'Originale Alfredo's di Roma and New York's The 21 Club. The unmatched experience he has in the restaurant industry can easily be seen at every turn in Christini's Italian restaurant, whether you are gazing down at your mouth-watering dish before you or looking around the beautiful restaurant where the design has just as much thought put into it as the details of each and every meal.
Exuding an elegant, yet homey atmosphere, the design of Christini's is unmatched. The main vein of the design running throughout the fine dining restaurant is the beautiful, warm oak paneling as well as the green walls and floor coverings that create an earthy, sophisticated appearance straight away. In one section of the restaurant, diners are even treated to a mid-19th century mosaic that depicts a hunting scene for all to enjoy. All over the menu are repeated logos of the restaurant, which extend to the place settings to add a perfect finishing touch. Italian ceramics are found throughout the restaurant to add a more artistic and authentic vibe to the establishment.
Fine Dining In Orlando
With multilevel floor plans, you can be sure that you have a perfect view of the interior design of this restaurant no matter where it is you are sitting. You even have constant reminders of how well loved the place is from those who have dined at Christini's before in the form of photographs and testimonials to their experiences. As if all of this wasn't enough to set the stage for a perfect night out, there is an accordionist that strolls throughout the restaurant, providing beautiful, gentle live music.
The luxurious restaurant serves dishes at a price, but as the testimonials state, the taste and the experience is well worth the upwards of $50 that you might spend per person on drinks, pasta, a tip and salad. The wine list includes some of the best pairings for the dishes being served and , the authentic Italian cuisine attest to Christini’s distinctive wine cellar. A basket of bread paired with pureed eggplant, olive oil and garlic stimulates the appetite before the meal in this fine dining restaurant. Whatever you're in the mood for when visiting Christini's, you're sure to find it with their large spectrum of Italian dishes, appetizers, salads and desserts to finish off the meal.
With such care put into both the atmosphere of Christini's and the food itself, it is no surprise why many of the locals consider it to be not only the best restaurant in Orlando but also one of the best in all of central Florida. Take a bite out of Christini's and see for yourself why the rumors are true.

2019 Kawasaki GPZ900R Limited Special Edition | New Kawasaki GPZ900R Custom From Italy
NEW KAWASAKI GPZ900R HOT ROD FROM ITALY
Paolo’s based in Parma, near Milan in Italy, and managed to source a 1984-model GPZ900R. But it was in dire need of attention. It was filthy, and the fairings were littered with dents and scratches. But he has an ex-race mechanic on speed dial and between the two of them, they brought the old GPZ900 up to spec.
Anyone who’s stripped a faired motorcycle can attest to how much real estate there really is to work through. But the guys soldiered on, painstakingly repairing every last ding. They didn’t quite restore it to spec though—Paolo’s mixed in a few subtle tweaks.
You’ll notice that the integrated mirrors and turn signals are gone, and the screen’s been switched out for a smoked one from MRA. And the seat’s different too. Paolo sourced a solo NOS VTR saddle from Germany, had the upholstery redone in leather, and fitted it to the GPZ900R’s tail unit.
The bodywork was then sent off to an old-timer who specializes in painting race bikes. He shot it with the unmistakable Top Gun red and black, separated by hand-painted white striping. (Thankfully, Paolo opted not to paste the bike with decals, like the movie’s version.)
This GPZ900R is more than just a retro-fabulous re-skin though. Paolo’s also added a few choice performance upgrades, to make sure it goes as good as it looks.
He’s upgraded the cams, switched all the cooling hoses to silicone ones, and installed a set of Keihin FCR carbs with velocity stacks. The exhaust is a brawny four-into-one system from Devil. And even though part of the motor’s tucked away behind that chunky fairing, it’s been treated to a supreme clean-up job.
As for the running gear, Paolo left the front suspension alone—but upgraded the rear with a new Bitubo shock. The brakes are NOS Brembo units, and the tires are an Avon Roadrider out front, and a 150-wide Bridgestone Battlax out back (a bump up from the original 130).
There’s also just the right amount of originality on Paolo’s GPZ900R to keep the nostalgia levels high. The instruments and switches are stock, but he’s installed a Domino throttle and fresh Renthal grips.
We applaud his restraint. This GPZ is a great nod to the source material, with enough variation to keep it exciting.
It’s also clean enough to eat off, which had us convinced it never gets ridden. But it turns out we were wrong.
“I don’t ride it like a historic bike,” Paolo assures us. “I treat it as a modern bike, revving and braking hard.”
“That’s why I love this bike, because it’s really fast and everyone turns around to watch you!”
Let’s be honest: who else feels like cranking Kenny Loggins all the way up, and punching the sky while riding off into the sunset?

Dinner at La Cucina on the NCL Breakaway
It has been an eventful day first in Costa Maya, Mexico and then shenanigans in O'Sheehan's and Shakers and the Ice Bar!!! Now it's time for a yummy Italian dinner at La Cucina. This is one of the specialty dining venues on the Breakaway and is absolutely delicious!!! I had pizza... well because I love pizza and if it's on the menu I WILL order it! And Jason had a steak. Our waitress was very disappointed in us both since neither ordered pasta so she insisted on bringing us some and it was really good too!

Kinkkukukko AKA Ham COCK
Picked up this interesting little item from Varusteleka. Basically according to them, Ham Cock is a Finnish delicacy and a good hiking or travel food. It's something like SPAM sandwiched between some rye bread and then sealed in a can. Decided to make a European brunch out of the taste test and see how it goes!

Flavors Restaurant, New Delhi
Food, wine and dessert at the Flavors restaurant, an Italian restaurant in Defence Colony, New Delhi, India.
Mr. Nataloni started the restaurant and now also runs the P'tit Bar near the Moolchand Flyover.
FLAVORS is all set to make you fall in love with its authentic Italian preparation and cozy environment. You'll definitely visit again...especially when the occasion is special.
This Trattoria & Pizzeria run by the Italian Owner & Chef Tarsillo Nataloni with wife Mary Claire, is the first successful stand-alone Italian eatery in Delhi. Since 1996, FLAVORS is the benchmark of Authentic Italian food at affordable rates.
Chef Nataloni's declared goal is to provide Delhiites & tourists with better fare than a similar Joint in Italy would: every month, thousands of satisfied guests confirm his achievement.
The menu features a broad selection of Italian traditional
regional recipes in which Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian have equal importance and taste.
Hand tossed, thin-crust pizzas are crispy and juicy, by proper
dough processing and exclusive wood-fire oven baking. Chosen toppings satisfy traditional and exotic tastes offering, among others: artichokes, capers, broccoli, sun dried tomato, Gaeta olives, anchovies, Parma Ham, salamino piccante (pepperoni), smoked chicken and - among the cheeses --
smoked scamorza, provolone, goat cheese, feta, gorgonzola, etc.
Daily fresh, home-made pasta, like Ravioli, Gnocchi, Fettuccine, Lasagne and Cannelloni share the favor of diners with imported Penne, Fusilli & Spaghetti; all blanched to perfection by an Italian pasta-cooker for utmost hygiene and speed.
Pasta al dente is definitely an option! As a matter of fact,
FLAVORS' pride is its state-of-the-art kitchen equipped with
the most advanced machines.
Antipasti, Salads, Soups, Panini, Pizza, Pasta, Risotti, and Main Courses: all reflect the commitment of the Chef to prepare for you the best of Home-Style Italian Cuisine, i.e. traditional, tasty, fresh and digestive.
Do indulge yourself with the desserts: as well as wholemeal
ciabatta, focaccia and baguette. Desserts fresh-by-the-hour are made at the in-house bakery & confectionery.
To accommodate the growing number of faithful guests, FLAVORS has upgraded its set-up, offering now an informal 'five star grade' dining experience, completed by the license to serve Italian & international wines, beers, spirits and cocktails.
Oops! : when we thought we had covered every possible angle of this popular restaurant, we recalled we didn't mention the unique verandah immersed in the green of a park and the friendly service of a prevalent waitress crew which may explain the consistent favor with women clientele
The unbelievably delicious Italian cuisine
I transposed an Italian Trattoria in Delhi, says with ill-concealed pride Chef Tarsillo, while hand-tossing a pizza dough or 'massaging' a chicken breast for tenderness.
Hailing from the southern harbour of Brindisi -- Apulia, Tarsillo's culinary experience was enriched by - his mother - Elvira's native Romagnola cuisine ability.
FLAVORS is definitely a family-run place, with inherent
hortcomings but overwhelming personalized touches.
Opened in 1996 as an ice cream parlor (hence the name) and converted into a restaurant in 1998 conceding to guests' demand.
FLAVORS is an alternative option to the expensive Italian restaurants in and out of city 5 star hotels. Till date it is the only restaurant in Delhi with Italian owner and Chef.
With a sumptuous menu created by Chef Tarsillo, & his team, the brunch has a wide range of Modern Italian delicacies including pastas and a mouth-watering vegetarian and non-vegetarian selection from the live barbecue.
* Truly Italian Home-Style Cuisine
Featuring a strictly Italian menu, however satisfying all palates and dietary choices
Completely renewed, comfortable set-up and friendly service
Conveniently central, though immersed in the green, with a garden verandah
Neat, spacious and technologically advanced kitchen
Authentic wood-fired Pizza oven
