Annapurna Base Camp Trek | ABC
The Annapurna base camp trek is one of the most beautiful trekking experiences in the world. You can either start via Ghorepani or go directly to ABC through Chhomrong. Most people do it via Tikhedhunga, Ulleri.
These are the popular Ulleri steps where 3,200 steps have been built by rocks. This can be done on either the first day or 2nd day of trekking.
Trekkers go to Poon hill early in the morning from Ghorepani for sunrise views. It takes approximately one hour from Ghorepani, so everybody starts at least one hour before sunrise, mostly using flashlights.
This area is inhabited by the Poon people, the Magar tribe, and this is how Poon hill got its name. It offers great views of the massive Mt. Dhaulagiri 8,167m Annapurna Ist 8,091m, the stunning Mt. Fishtail and many more. Nepalese and foreign trekkers celebrate Poon hill every morning, so this place is occupied by trekkers in peak season. Between October to December and March to June this area is filled with trekkers.
Ghorepani to Tadapani trail goes through Rhododendron forest which offers a beautiful jungle walk and between March and June the Rhododendron forest is full of colors.
Traditional Nepali mountain swings are fixed in festival time. You can see these traditional swings on the track in October and November.
Due to migrating problems on mountain areas, it is seen rarely. These kinds of Nepali swings are happening less and less as the culture is changing. Mountain culture and costumes are disappearing day by day.
You will trek down to Gurjung Khola from Chhomrong village. Some trekkers come directly to Chhomrong for ABC.
After crossing the suspension bridge you will climb up to Sinuwa. It is almost one and a half hours uphill to Sinuwa.
You will cross traditional Nepali wooden bridges at some places on the way which are unique and strange for foreigners. The river is really big in monsoon but has almost no water in winter.
You will see beautiful waterfalls alongside the trail in many different places. This beautiful nature gives us the energy to trek within the Himalayas. You will mostly follow the Modi river gorges after passing Chhomrong all the way to Machhapuchhre base camp.
The valley after Deurali and before Machhapuchhre base camp is very beautiful but it is also quite dangerous in winter. This area is covered in snow during winter and avalanches are likely to happen too, so winter is not highly recommended here.
Machhapuchhre base camp offers a great view of Mt. Fishtail. This place is recommended for sunset views.
It only takes two hours to ABC from Machhapuchhre base camp.
Annapurna base camp is located on the lap of Annapurna south with an altitude 4,130m above sea level. It has surrounding mountain views including Annapurna I 8,091m. Annapurna I is 10th highest in the world and it was the first 8000m mountain humans summited.
Some people fly to ABC from Pokhara by helicopter early in the morning for breakfast. The helicopter flies for rescues sometimes. Annapurna base camp trek will give you a full adventure, a memorable trip, and wonderful experience of the massive Himalaya.
Chandragiri Hill Cable Car Day Trip in Kathmandu Nepal
Chandragiri Hill, seven kilometres from Thankot, lies on the South-West of Kathmandu Valley and is 2551 metres from sea level. Soaring peaks and breath taking views of whole Kathmandu Valley covered with lush green blanket of flora makes Chandragiri truly a great bountiful and pristine landscape. The panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley & Himalayan ranges from Annapurna to Everest makes any one feel like seeing whole Nepal from this hill.
The distance between Kathmandu and Thankot is 16 kilometres with approximately 40 minutes of travelling time. The single length of cable car project is around two and a half kilometres from near Godam at Thankot with the travelling time of 9 minutes. People willing to drive would have to pass through seven kilometres of rough road to reach the hill top. Another option for the visitors to reach the top is three hour long trek.
Bhaleshwor Mahadev
Mythological Significance
With reference to the description written in Himvatakhanda, Bhaleshwor Mahadev appeared at the spot where Satidevi’s ‘Bhala’ or the forehead fell off from her dead body. It is believed that Satidevi, Shiva’s consort, gave up her life by jumping in a fire pyre at her father Daksha Prajapati’s yagna (sacred fire ritual) after Daksha insulted her husband Shiva in front of scores of gods and goddesses invited at the religious ceremony. An enraged Shiva then carried her dead body on his back and walked across the world like a madman for long span of time, without taking note of Satidevi’s decaying body. Different ‘shakti-centres’ were established at sites where different parts of Satidevi’s body fell in course of Lord Shiva’s mourning.

Langtang trek 2017 by Snow Leopard Trek.
Langtang area is a beautiful trek which will introduce you to some of Nepal's wildest and most picturesque areas. The Langtang trek is a moderate trek in terms of the required rigor and starts from the Syabrubensi. Our trek winds through beautiful rhododendron and conifer forests through the Langtang National Park on the way to the Kyanjen Gompa. Our route then leads up to the high alpine yak pastures, glaciers and moraines around Kyanjin. Along this route you will have an opportunity to experience the whole range of Himalayan topography as the trail heads south through a lush green valley before returning to Kathmandu.
Nepal Himalayan climbing, Chulu west expedition, climbing in Nepal, Nepal Expedition, trekking peak
Ascending mount Chulu West and mount Chulu Central can be best made from a base camp in a small valley north of Manang situated off the main route to Thorong La pass 5416m. We can have the heart touching views of this peak from that pass.
North-West Ridge: Go beyond the hut preceding the yak pastures and walk up a ridge which leads into a hidden valley with the possibility to find a good site for base camp. From this camp, ascend steep slopes to a col (4,900m/ 16,076 ft.), on a subsidiary ridge that leads down from the main crease. To the north of the col, move down via snowy slope for 200 meters to the base of a rock band at the height of 5,100 meters, which is the site for a possible high camp. Climbing the difficult rock band to the north-west shoulder of Chulu west 5450 meters or 17,880 feet, another camp can be established or alter-native a camp can be placed on a snow plateau above 5,530 meters or 18,143 feet. Rope was fixed on the rock band during the first and other ascents. From the plateau continue moving up the narrow ridge to the summit 6,250 meters /20,505 feet. Same route is followed to descend down. Every season Monterosa Treks and expedition organizes Chulu-West Peak
expedition.

Nepal - Annapurna trek options
Annapurna Trek Options
In this video we'll outline the main trekking options in the Annapurna region.
First, you'll need to know where Annapurna is located.
The Annapurna peaks -- and there are at least 5 peaks carrying the name Annapurna -- are located in the Annapurna Sanctuary Area just north of Pokhara.
There are a host of 7 and 8 thousand meter peaks in the sanctuary. Various trekking options can get you close to some or all of them.
Just about all Annapurna treks start from Pokhara, located west of Kathmandu and reached by 35 minute flight or one day road trip from Kathmandu.
There are three main treks conducted in and around the Annapurna region.
• Short treks into the high foothills that provide spectacular views of the snow-capped mountains.
• Treks into the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary to the Annapurna Base Camp area.
• Much longer treks that complete a circuit loop right around the Annapurna mountain massif.
We'll start with a look at the short treks designed to provide fantastic views of the mountains with just a few days trekking.
The peaks of the Annapurna massif are only about 40 km north of Pokhara.
So a short drive and just a day or two walking will get you into the high foothills where the mountain scenery is spectacular.
The most common mountain scenery short-trek is to the village or Ghorepani and the Poon Hill lookout just above the village. It is a fantastic experience.
Most people aim to experience sunrise over the Annapurna mountains from the 3,200m vantage point of Poon Hill.
Reaching Ghorepani is usually a 2 day walk from the entrance to the Sanctuary Area.
Many people then return to Pokhara via an easy loop through other villages and the main valley into the sanctuary. Others just make this the first leg of a longer trek to Annapurna base Camp.
But there are also other panoramic short trek and accommodation options throughout the foothills -- so contact us at Langtang Ri Trekking if you would like to know more.
The most common trekking destination in the sanctuary is to the Annapurna Base Camp -- the starting point for many climbing expeditions.
Depending upon the route this can be about a 7 to 10 or 14 days trek.
There are villages and accommodation options all along the trekking routes. The scenery is spectacular. The altitude not too high, less than 4,000m throughout. And the walking trails are well made and relatively easy walking.
The third trekking option is to circumnavigate the entire Annapurna massif -- this is the Annapurna Circuit Trek.
There are a variety of different shorter and longer versions of this trek -- some which involve terminating the trek north of Annapurna, at Jomson, and returning to Pokhara by air. Others branch off into remote valleys and high passes and others continue on foot all the way to the Sanctuary Area gate north of Pokhara. So some treks can be a short as 12 days and other 21 days or longer.
While the main appeal of this trek is its spectacular scenery and the experience of visiting remote villages and their people, another attraction is its suitability for trekking right through the mi-summer monsoon period. Because the treks goes north of the mountain peaks the treks is in the mountain rain-shadow and so can be comfortable completed any time other than the depths of mid-winter.
So these are just the three main trekking routes in the Annapurna Sanctuary Area. Plus there are lot more valleys, villages, lakes, high passes and festivals that can be included in a customised trek itinerary.
If you need help to plan your trek please contact Pamfa -- she has the answers to all your questions. We hope to see you soon at Langtang Ri Trekking and Expedition.

Then we head west over very remote and high passes into the Upper Dolpo area to explore rarely visited valleys. Over exposed passes and down narrow gorges we finally reach Gemi and follow the trodden trail down to Jomosom.

Nepal - Mount Everest trek options
Mount Everest trek options
In this video we'll outline the main trekking options in the Mount Everest region.
First, you'll need to know where Mount Everest is located.
Mount Everest is located in the Sagarmatha National Park just north of Lukla -- the starting point for almost every trek in this region.
Lukla is located east of Kathmandu and reached by 35 minute flight. Flying is really the only way to get there.
There are three main treks conducted in and around the Mount Everest region.
• Short treks into the high foothills that provide spectacular views of the snow-capped mountains and views of the summit peak of Mount Everest itself.
• Direct treks to the Mount Everest Base Camp at the foot of the mountain.
• Much longer treks that complete a circuit loop to Mount Everest Base Camp via the spectacular Gokyo Lakes and Cho La high pass.
While some trekking is still required, unless you choose the helicopter option, it is possible to glimpse the summit of Mount Everest from the comfort of luxury hotel accommodation.
A day or two walk from Lukla will get you to one of the hotels vantage points to glimpse Mount Everest.
Even from this distance the mountain views are spectacular. So this trek option might be of interest to those with limited time or concerns about fitness and the dangers of altitude sickness.
The direct trek from Lukla to Mount Everest base Camp and return is by far the most popular trek itinerary in Nepal.
These treks all start from Lukla and take about 12 to 14 days to return to Lukla.
Some solid days of walking are required, however, there will normally be at least two rest days on the outbound journey at help your body adjust the to the high altitude and reduce the risk of altitude sickness.
So the trek starts at 2,800m altitude, over 9,000 feet at Lukla and reaches 5,300m or 17,400 feet at the Everest Base Camp. This is very high and good fitness and careful altitude acclimatization is required for a safe and comfortable trek. Accommodation options are many and varied along this route. There are also many options for side-treks and experiencing local festivals and religious centre along this route -- just contact us here at Langtang Ri for more information on these many options.
The third and most spectacular and physically challenging trekking option is the extended trek to Mount Everest Base Camp via the Gokyo Lakes and the Cho la Pass.
This is a long trek into the heart of the Sagarmatha National park and its most spectacular scenery.
The trek starts and ends in Lukla and traverses the very high Cho la Pass as it heads over to the Khumbu Glacier Valley. This is a very challenging pass at an altitude of nearly 5,400m, or 17,700 feet and should only be attempted with the assistance of an experienced guide. However, the experience and stunning scenery reward the effort this trek requires.
Probably best to plan your Everest treks for Spring or Autumn. This avoids the mid-summer monsoon season when rain and low cloud can make flying and trekking in the Everest region difficult. While it will be cold in February and November, these are still good times to trek the mountains if you have the right clothing, equipment, accommodation planned and a good guide with you.
So these are just the three main trekking routes in the Everest Base Camp Area. Plus there are lot more valleys, lakes, high peaks, high passes, monasteries and festivals that can be included in a customised trek itinerary.
If you need help to plan your trek please contact Pamfa -- she has the answers to all your questions. We hope to see you soon at Langtang Ri Trekking and Expedition.

Langtang Valley Trekking in Nepal
Langtang Valley Trekking in Nepal is aptly called 'the valley of glaciers. Here, mountains rise soaring towards the sky. The valley offers pine forest, swift mountain streams, rugged rock and snow- capped peaks, grassy downs and meadows strewn with daisies and wild primulas. In the upper part of the valley there are snow ridges spanning angry torrents, high passes enveloped in mist, tiny lakes of crystalline brightness and glaciated mountain giants.

Trekking in Nepal - SIKLES Kahphuche Lake - Episode Two: Sikles
When we started this trip, Sikles wasn't in our primary focus. But from the day we got to Sikles, and our 3 days stay there, we were mesmerized by this beautiful Gurung village and people.

Langtang Valley Trek, also known as the valley of glaciers trek, is the closest Himalayan Region from Kathmandu valley, with just a few hours of drive you can easily reach the beautiful Langtang Region. The whole valley gives a spectacular view of Mount Langtang Lirung (7246 m) and offers a view of dense forests, swift mountain streams, high grasslands and snow-capped peaks. Despite being so close to Kathmandu it has a very high Tibetan influence as Langtang valley lies at the south of the Tibetan Border. Langtang Valley trek is considered a remote yet spectacular trek taking you through the high lake of Gosainkunda, forests of rhododendrons and bamboo, majestic waterfalls and the snow-capped Himalayas.
This is a 10-day trek starting at Syabrubesi at a height of just 1467 m but as the trek passes by we reach to a shoring height of 3850 m, which is truly amazing. This trek is the perfect getaway to those trekkers who seek for solitude and peace. This area being close to the Tibetan border lets you experience the wild Tibetan culture and their lifestyle. Kyangin Gompa is a very important checkpoint where you can see the marvelous art and culture of Buddhist Monasteries and various gompa. Himalaya Trek in the Annapurna Mountains Nepal Video: Trekking to ABC Annapurna Base Camp Vlog
Annapurna Mountains Nepal Video Trekking to ABC: Crossing Rivers and View of Annapurna Fang
This is my last trekking day in the Himalaya Mountains of Nepal before the final accent to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC). I am trekking with Himalayan Sewa Expedition & Trekking, contact details below.
The going is getting a bit tough in places with rocks under foot and slippy bridges over river crossings, there is one especially tricky and slippy bridge over a fast flowing river near the end of the day after a recent landslide. We make it safely to the village of Himalaya for lunch and then have to speed up the pace in order to beat the weather, the clouds start closing in and it looks like snow could be on its way. There are clouds above us and clouds below us but we manage to stay ahead of the bad weather and make it to Deurali where we will be sleeping for the night relatively dry. Once in Deurali I take you on a quick tour of the room I will be staying in which is a dorm style room with 9 beds. All accommodation once you reach this later stage of the Annapurna Base Camp hike will be in shared accommodation such as this.
