Hi lovely people!!! Hope everyone is on Christmas break by now!!! I’ve had a super nice relaxing week and am in Tahoe now so definitely look forward to next weeks snowy video!!???? that being said this weeks video is a fun vlog from a few weeks ago with Noah! We hiked Spencer’s butte which is the famous hike in good old Eugene Oregon! So if you’ve ever wondered what the top looks like you’ll now be able to find out!!!

We took a hike at spencers Butte Eugene Oregon today.
Spencer Butte is a prominent landmark in Lane County, Oregon, United States, described in the National Geodetic Survey as a prominent timbered butte with a bare rocky summit on the southern edge of Eugene, with an elevation of 2,058 feet. Spencer Butte is accessible from Spencer Butte Park and has several hiking trails to the summit. The tree cover on the butte is predominantly Douglas-fir, however the butte is treeless at its summit.

Drone Spencer Butte Eugene OR Music Video
This is a great hiking trail and the view is definitely rewarding. On this particular mission I nearly lost my drone as I pushed it through the canopy like an idiot where the winds pulled it slightly out of view causing me to lose track of the location. I could've turned remote off and have the drone go home but home would've absolutely cause a crash since the trees were easily a hundred or more feet up and there's was no opening back through the canopy. I did however get lucky and was able to visually locate it and bring it down after panicking fairly hard knowing what it was worth working versus smashed.

I'm using a DJI Phantom 2 a Zenmuse h3 2d gimbal and no FPV monitor. I later acquired a monitor for FPV and played around with a FUTUBA remote while DJI software was working out the smooth operation of the gimbal sensitivity. Drone Skinner's Butte Eugene Oregon Music Video
I think this was my absolute first flight to record something to use for editing. This was back when drones weren't a thing. Very early on maybe in 2013. What I liked about this was the background and foreground parallaxing effect and the weird dude at the top in some knight's outfit which he was carrying a nearly 5 foot sword. That guy was sooooo coool or so weird.
Skinner Butte (also called Skinner's Butte) is a prominent hill on the north edge of downtown Eugene, Oregon, United States, near the Willamette River. Skinner Butte is a local landmark and the location of Skinner Butte Park, a municipal park. It is named after Eugene Skinner, the founder of Eugene. During the latter 20th century, it was the location of a cross which was removed in 1997.

Historic Photos Of Eugene Oregon
These Images are borrowed from the Lane County Historical Museum. These Photos really inspire me. So I made a little video of some of the photos I collect.
Every little piece of history I uncover. Is put into perspective looking at these. Knowing, the last time that object, coin or relic saw daylight. The town looked like this. These photos range from the 1890's threw to the 1950's. The time frame that all my finds have been in, in Eugene. My oldest, was in Creswell.

Up on the very top of Spencer's Butte in Eugene, Oregon, are some very tame ground squirrels. It's kind of a tough climb if you're not in shape.
