The majority of journalists around the world have chosen to develop their subject on controversial and sensational themes: violence, war, crime. But all these facts represent only 1% of our world and its inhabitants, forgetting the remaining 99% of which we never speak.
I chose to visit every country on the planet and film them to present them in High Definition format but in a raw way, without music, without comment. Simply, reality in all its truth. Thus, you will be able to make your own idea of the world in which you live.
Currently, I have already visited nearly 170 countries and my world tour continues thanks to you who follow me.

Le Musée des Beaux Arts d'Arras and a Walk
Photos without flash and videos are permitted inside the museum without restriction.
I looked at most of the ground floor in Le Musée des Beaux Arts in Arras, France. It is at 22, rue Doumer, in an abbey which was founded in the 7th c. Over the centuries, it was expanded, and by the 18th c. it was the largest ensemble of the Classical architectural style in France, if I understood correctly. Since the buildings went up over time, there are parts which are Gothic and in other styles. Heavily bombarded in WWI, the collections being worst hit, almost everything was destroyed or burned, but restoration began in 1924 and new works were donated and acquired.
The photos are in chronological order of my visit, and show some of what I saw in the part of the museum (there are three levels) I saw, then a walk through one of the three courts of honor, where there is a mediathèque (public library), and toward one of the famous central plazas, judged to be the most beautiful central plaza in France. (They have more than one, in fact, all just as extraordinary.)
Known as the Abbaye Saint-Vaast, it is in Northern France, in the Pas-de-Calais département. You can get to Arras from Paris by SNCF commuter train -- I think it is the last stop on that line. I recommend a visit, as the town is pleasant and you might enjoy Ch'ti culture. I found it sedate and quite tidy on a quiet but not-too-quiet grey Sunday afternoon one April, yet it wasn't all THAT sedate; quite a few people were out and many tobacconists, cafés, restaurants and pastry/bakery shops were open, which is rather unusual for France. I wouldn't describe the architecture here as typical French, whatever that means. It hints at Belgium, I think.
I went on the first Sunday of the month, a journée du patrimoine (heritage day) when a lot of things which normally charge become free to the public, so visitors and locals of any wallet size can see things they might not otherwise see. I'd heard good things about Arras and am glad I made it there. The City Hall is more elegant than most Gothic churches, and the city tries to do everything, even their drain gutter metal coverings, with design and flair. Things seemed very well-organized. I was quite impressed.
The part of the museum I saw has things from the Middle Ages, and you see a lot of religious items and representations of death, but death was omnipresent, and only the very wealthy were likely to be able to afford art depicting frivolities.

Places to see in ( Arras - France ) Abbaye St Vaast
The Abbey of Saint-Vaast was a Benedictine monastery situated in Arras, département of Pas-de-Calais, France. The abbey was founded in 667. Saint Vedast, or Vaast (c. 453–540) was the first bishop of Arras and later also bishop of Cambrai, and was buried in the old cathedral at Arras. In 667 Saint Auburt, seventh bishop of Arras, began to build an abbey for Benedictine monks on the site of a little chapel which Saint Vedast had erected in honour of Saint Peter. Vedast's relics were transferred to the new abbey, which was completed by Auburt's successor and generously endowed by King Theuderic III, who together with his wife was afterwards buried there.
The Abbey of St. Vaast was of great importance amongst the monasteries of the Low Countries. It was exempt from episcopal jurisdiction and maintained its independence until 1778, when it was aggregated to the Congregation of Cluny. At the French Revolution it was suppressed and the monastic buildings were used first as a hospital and then as barracks.
In 1838 the premises were purchased by the town; part was used as a museum and archive, and the rest as the residence of the bishop. The abbey church, which had been desecrated and partially destroyed, was rebuilt and consecrated in 1833 and now serves as the cathedral of Arras, substituting for the former Gothic cathedral destroyed during the Revolution. The abbey houses the Musée des beaux-arts d'Arras.

Places to see in ( Arras - France )
Places to see in ( Arras - France )
Arras is a city in northern France. The Carrière Wellington is a network of quarry tunnels used by soldiers during WWI. North of the city, surrounded by lush countryside, the Canadian National Vimy Memorial honors the Canadian soldiers killed during the war. In town, the cobbled Place des Héros has buildings with Flemish facades, including the Town Hall and belfry. The Abbey of St. Vaast houses a fine arts museum.
The capital of the historic Artois region has a strong Flemish accent, clear in the names, architecture, food and art. The gabled houses on Place des Héros and Grand-Place could easily be in Belgium or the Netherlands, while the fine arts museum has a bounty of Flemish and Dutch baroque painting.
The First World War raged in this region and there are constant reminders of the conflict a century later: Metres below your feet in Arras is an old labyrinth of chalk tunnels where the citizens took shelter, but also where Allied forces coordinated the Battle of Arras in 1917. An then just outside the city are memorials, cemeteries and thought-provoking museums.
An unexpected gem of a city, Arras (the final 's' is pronounced), the former capital of Artois, is worth seeing mainly for its exceptional ensemble of Flemish-style arcaded buildings – the main squares are especially lovely at night – and two subterranean WWI sites. The city makes a good base for visits to the Battle of the Somme memorials.
The city of Arras is famous for its two gems that are the Grand Place (main square) and the Héros square. Surrounded by 155 houses of Flemish Baroque style, these two paved squares are magnificent and make an enchanting scene! Very lively, the Héros square, lined with covered galleries home to fine food shops and cafés, is dominated by the belfry of the town hall. The former Saint-Vaast Benedictine abbey house a Fine Art museum dedicated to painting and sculpture.
All of the belfries in the historic County of Flanders are listed as UNESCO sites, and that goes for the proud one on Place des Héros. A lift will get you most of the way to a panoramic viewpoint, and after that you have to scale another 40 steps on a metallic spiral stairway for a bird’s eye view 75 metres above the centre of Arras. The belfry is in the flamboyant gothic style and has been rebuilt twice since it was completed in 1554, first to correct structural faults in 1840 and then after damage in the First World War.
