Stowe Mountain Road Bridge Replacement
*Special thanks to:
Stephen Fishman of Stowe Craft Gallery- stowecraft.com

Senator Richard Westman
The Mountain Road bridge across the Little River in Stowe was first scheduled for replacement decades ago, but the potential economic impacts of closing Stowe's main artery for construction delayed the project. Using innovative Accelerated Bridge Construction methods, VTrans was able to replace the bridge over the course of a few weeks rather than an entire construction season. VTrans further reduced public disturbances by scheduling the project during Stowe's mud season, meaning the bridge was open in time for the busy summer tourist season. Watch the video to learn more!
Killybracken
- Killybracken is one of the most splendid stone residences gracing the New England Coast. The primary estate was built in 1927 in the Arts and Crafts style of granite quarried in Gloucester.
Behind the granite is concrete reinforced with rebar said to be the first private residence built with rebar in the United States. The main residence is; 6,500 square feet with 14 rooms, 6 custom baths (two are half baths) and four working fireplaces. The estate effortlessly captures the warmth and elegance of the great homes of Europe while remaining graciously relaxed. Exceptional Old World refinements include softly burnished oak and pine woodwork, accents of polished brass, copper and leaded glass work, and decorative granite windowsills. Luxurious new granite baths abound, and are carefully integrated with the estate's period features. Every room enjoys unobstructed, spectacular ocean views.

Hills of VT
We are a wood furniture manufacturer located in Morrisville, Vermont in the North Central section of the state, 10 miles North of the resort area of Stowe. We purchase our lumber locally and process it completely from the drying in our own kilns to the packing of the finished product. Our company is a wood furniture manufacturer that is proud to craft beautiful and durable pieces of hardwood furniture that is made from start to finish locally and with local lumber.
Vermont Precision Woodworks and its predecessors have been in the woodworking business in Northern Vermont since the early 1900's. In the early 70's the plant started producing wood components for the musical instrument industry, particularly piano parts. This has helped us perfect our woodworking skills for detailed pieces. During the 1980s, we became a wood furniture manufacturer when we started making beds and bunk beds by contract for dorms and residences. During this period, we excelled in making durable furniture that could withstand everyday wear. In 1985, the factory continued in the furniture business, fabricating children's furniture made of hard maple.
Since then, VT Precision has become a wood furniture manufacturer of great reputation. Our hardwood furniture is renowned as being durable, solid, practical and, most importantly, absolutely beautiful.

Contact: achydademail@gmail.com
I'm an older achy dad living with my wife and two young kids in the state of Vermont, in the USA. I focus on sharing product reviews and experiences as we strive to live a simple lifestyle below our means. But we are also both technology and eco-friendly. Sherwin Art Glass Vermont
The arts in Vermont bring both money and culture to the state.
Each year...in spring and fall...the state hosts Open Studio Tours.
This weekend is the perfect time to go on one of those adventure's...but instead of following a yellow brick road...just follow the bright yellow signs along Vermont's roads! They'll take you to studios of crafters and artists during the Memorial Day weekend Open studio tour on May 24th and 25th. You'll come across studios with jewelers, potters, weavers, painters, sculptors, and more! This week I stopped by a participating studio in Bellows Falls to get a sneak peek of what's in store. Let's take a look.
********************
According to their website Vermont-crafts-dot-com, the Vermont Crafts Council is a non-profit that started the open studio weekend back in 1933. Their mission is to increase the exposure of artists and crafters across Vermont to honor the creative and artistic role they play in Vermont's communities. The weekend tour is self guided, so be sure to check out the website for more information and a list of studios.
