Ting Ting and I (Trevor James, The Food Ranger), made our way to Vietnam solely to eat street food. Since we love street food around the world, we decided that Vietnam was the perfect holiday destination for street food to try, because it's supposed to be the best and we love watching new street food recipes and street food flavors as we adventure down deep, back alleyways, getting lost into new street food worlds. So far, in our Vietnamese street food tour series, we've eaten street food in Hanoi, and then we took the sleeper train south 12 hours to Hue. Hue is the old ancient capital of Vietnam, and is packed full of different street food to try. We spent 4 days here eating and couldn't get enough of all the street food. Asian street food is the best, and in Vietnam, it doesn't get any better!
We found 11 different Vietnamese street foods in this video. If you arrive here looking to eat, you can follow along with these addresses:
1) Bun Bo hue @02:44- The specialty street food Beef and pork broth noodle soup of Hue, Vietnam - It’s absolutely rich and delicious! Found at the Dong Ba market early morning around 730am. Go to the outside of the street market and find the old ladies with big pots of good street food and you’ll discover a ton!
2) Bun Hen @ 06:10 Spicy Clam noodle soup - Also found at the Dong Ba Market in Hue, Vietnam, in the early morning! Just look around the outside of the market, the perimeter, not on the inside.
3) Banh Tam Banana Leaf @ 09:44 wrapped around marinated shrimp - Found directly beside the Bun Hen at Dong Ba market
4) Veg Soup @ 11:27 - Also found at Dong Ba Street Food Market in Hue, Vietnam
5) Bun Tith Nuong @ 14:37 Grilled pork over top of rice noodles. These was my favorite meal from Hue, and so cheap at 10,000 Vietnamese dong! Bun Thit Nuong 66 Bạch Đằng
6) Banh Mi Vietnamese Sandwich @ 17:55- This one was quite average. But still fun to eat! This one was at the intersection of Xuan 68 and Le Thanh Ton street inside Hue’s old city.
7) Douhua Silken Tofu @ 21:27 - This was a street food vendor carrying the food on wooden poles, so you have to be lucky at the right place at the right time. We were at the location below around 4:30 PM and she came along.
8) Banh Tran Truong “Vietnamese Pizza made from rice paper” @ 22:54. You can find this one inside the old city on 14 Le Thanh Ton Street in Hue, Vietnam
9) Banh Ep - Flattened rice paper dough with raw egg grilled @ 22:54 - Same location as the Vietnamese rice paper pizza
10) Nem Lui Vietnamese Pork Skewers @ 25:56 - These were found at 241 Huynh Thuc Khang - TP, Hue, Vietnam
11) Banh Xeo Vietnamese pancakes @ 25:56 - Same location as above, 241 Hyun Thuc Khang - TP. Hue, Vietnam

AMAZING PRIVATE STREET FOOD TOUR OF HO CHI MINH CITY | Vietnam | Vlog 033
We head out on a 4 hour private street food tour with Ben from 'The Street Food Man'. Walking around districts 3 and 10 we sample a huge variety of food and drinks from Bahn Xeo (sizzling pancake) and Bo La Lot to sugarcane juice and rice wine before ending up in a Seafood restaurant where Lorna tries crab & clams for the first time.
At only £30 per person we were so happy with our experience, all of the food and our local guide, Ben who taught us about the food, culture, language and even the history of the city. If you're in HCMC and are a food lover then a food tour is an absolute must!

First I made my way to Cơm tấm Ba Ghiền, Absolutely amazing food, honestly. The meat was very flavorful and the meatball was a new experience! Highly recommended.
????????
Then I made my way to the Thai Binh Market, both the noodles and the bun bao was very tasty and cheap! Rest of the market is fairly small and not much to see.
????????
After that I went to the famous Banh Xeo 46A, I had pretty low expectations of this since there were a lot of tourists. I was kind of underwhelmed but it’s not BAD.
????????
And after the pancake I went to the most popular Banh Mi places in Saigon it’s called Huynh Hoa Bakery, OMG i love that place so much, totally worth the ’overprice’ for that flavor!
????????
Lastly I was recommended by my local friend from Saigon to try Bun bo, which is a noodle dish with fermented seafood paste, The dish was really tasty and the noodles were stunning.

Saigon Food Tour with KyleLe.net
Hope you enjoy this Saigon food tour - there’s nothing better to do than eat! Get my food and travel updates:
When I was in Saigon, one day I met up with Kyle LeDotNet ( a local vlogger and blogger, for a day of cruising around and eating. We started at one of the most famous restaurants in the city, Bánh Xèo 46A to eat the Vietnamese crepe known as banh xeo. The southern Vietnamese version, as I’m told, is large than other versions around the country, and we ordered their specialities - a huge savory crepe, packed full of pork belly and shrimp and bean sprouts, then folded over and served with a pile of fresh leafy vegetables and Vietnamese sweet fish sauce to dip. It was my first tiem to eat Vietnamese banh xeo, and it was pretty tasty.
After the banh xeo, continuing on our Saigon food tour adventures, we then caught a taxi to Bánh Cuốn Hải Nam, a restaurant in the city known for serving Vietnamese banh cuon - like thin rice pancakes filled with a savory filling and rolled, and again, served with the signature sweet Vietnamese fish sauce. I’m a huge lover of banh cuon, and I loved them even before going to Saigon this trip, so I really enjoyed these. The outer wrapping was soft and silly, and the filling was meaty and salty, and you can’t forget about that sweet salty fish sauce, to which I added some chili as well - it was delicious.
After two quick meals we headed to a Saigon restaurant called Bình Xuyên 2, sort of an entretainment restaurant in the city - like a full amusement restaurant. People come to this type of restaurant to relax, to spend time with the family, and to feast, and that was the reason we came. The first dish we ordered was a deep fried giant gourami fish (cá tai tượng chiên xù), covered in its own scales and topped with peanuts and shallots. The fish was served along with Vietnamese rice paper, rice vermicelli noodles, and lots of herbs and fresh vegetables, and finally a fermented fish dipping sauce. The combination was incredibly good - it was easily my favorite dish of this Saigon food tour. Next we also ordered a flaming hot pan of pig intestines (dồi trường), seasoned with lime juice and tossed with herbs and vegetables. Again it was delicious and served on a huge flaming hot platter. Our final dish of the meal at Bình Xuyên 2 restaurant was cơm cháy, kind of a burnt rice. It was good and smokey and crispy all at the same time.
After our delicious early dinner, we continued on to walk around an area of Saigon known as Phu My Hung, and then proceeded on to Notre Dame cathedral in the heart of the city to experience the snacking culture around there. I had eaten it already a couple of times, but while at Notre Dame, I had a snack called banh trang trung, a piece of Vietnamese rice paper, topped with meat and a quail egg, then roasted over fire.
Our final stop was at Kem Nhãn Chú Tám, a legendary Saigon ice cream street where the two shops, right next to each other, fight for business - it was an intense and quite an enjoyable ice cream food adventures.

Exploring Saigon - Food, War Remnants Museum, & Ben Thanh Market
In this Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) travel and food vlog, get ready for lots of delicious food, and some of attractions in the city. More coming here:
I was attempting to go to the extremely famous Bánh Mì Huỳnh Hoa (Banh Mi Huynh Hoa), but somehow I missed that they were only open beginning in the afternoon, so instead I found another banh mi restaurant called Bánh Mì Hồng Hoa, which actually proved to be one of my favorite versions of the trip (I did end up going to Bánh Mì Huỳnh Hoa (Banh Mi Huynh Hoa) another time, so another video about that coming soon). But anyway, I ordered the normal special banh mi, a Vietnamese sandwich stuffed into a crusty baguette, and it was incredibly good. The bread was crusty and fresh, and they included just the right amount of toppings and ratio of ingredients. Happy full of the banh mi for breakfast, we then continued walking, and next stopped for a cup of Vietnamese coffee, which always hits the spot.
One of my goals for visiting Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), was to film a video about the top things to do, the attractions of the city. So after we ate breakfast, we then took a walk over to the Cathedral of Notre Dame, sort of in the main center of Saigon. The cathedral is a beautiful structure, and I did some filming and videos of both inside and outside the church. Right across the road from Notre Dame in Saigon is the Saigon Post Office, which I had actually visited the day before.
Next stop, we headed to the War Remnants Museum of Saigon, a museum in the central area of the city that showcases displays of mostly photography depicting the horrible acts and results of the Vietnam War. It definitely wasn’t a light museum, and nor was it much fun to visit, but it did offer a glimpse into the terrible events. After the museum, we then went to Tao Dan Park, which is located just across the street, where we just walked around.
After doing some sightseeing in Saigon, we were pretty hot and hungry, so walking around, we found a small restaurant, called Com Tam 77 to stop for lunch. The restaurant was located just on the outside of Tao Dan Park, not far from the Reunification Palace. I ordered one of the most popular Saigon Vietnamese dishes, a dish known as com tam suon, broken rice topped with a grilled pork chop, and an optional, but highly delicious fried egg on the top. The meal was very tasty, and it truly hit the spot.
After lunch, we headed back to the hotel, as the sun was beating down, and it looked like it would rain. I had a chance to do some work, and write some articles and edit some videos, and then we came out again to explore at around 4 pm when it was much cooler. We headed back to Ben Thanh Market, the central main market of the city, before moving outside, walking around for a bit more, and then finally finishing the great day off with a meal at a kind of chain restaurant in Saigon known as Pho Hung. It was nice to get some AC and cool off, and I have to admit that my bowl of pho bo, or Vietnamese beef pho was actually quite good.
I hope you enjoyed this video blog about traveling, eating, and visiting some attractions in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam. Please give it a thumbs up, and I would really be grateful if you would share this video with a friend!

SAIGON’S FAMOUS FOOD - Vietnam Food Tour - Best Banh Mi
We tried 5 of Saigon’s Famous Food items during a full day Vietnam food tour! We found the best Banh Mi sandwich in the city and checked out Anthony Bourdain’s favorite restaurant in Ho Chi Minh city for Banh Xeo. We snuck in an exotic food in Vietnam towards the end, so make sure you watch all the way through!
To fuel up, we got an Egg Coffee or Cà Phê Trứng. During the milk shortage, Vietnamese adapted to whip an entire egg yolk into their coffee for dairy and texture. Vietnamese egg coffee is served with sweetened condensed milk and nutmeg. It reminded me of an egg nog latte. Needless to say, it was incredible.
Our first food stop on the Vietnam food tour was to find the best banh mi in Saigon. We went to a Mark Wiens recommended spot and were NOT impressed, so we headed down the street to the famous Banh Mi Huynh Hoa. Of course, being one of Saigon’s famous food items we had to stand in a line to get our Banh Mi. Thank goodness we waited because this was the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten in my entire life! No joke. If you are looking for the best food in Saigon, this should be your absolute first stop.
Next up I wanted to try Banh Xeo. What better place to try it than the one made famous by Anthony Bourdain in Vietnam: Banh Xeo 46A. This place was located in district 3 Ho Chi Minh city and although it’s quite the tourist destination now, it was only half full mixed with both locals and tourists. If you’re wondering what to eat in Ho Chi Minh city, Banh Xeo will be on every local foodies list for you to try. It’s a thin rice flour pancake or crepe stuffed with prawns, bean sprouts and garlic. It was absolutely delicious!
At this point of our food tour Saigon I’m starting to get pretty full… but everyone says the best Vietnamese food in Saigon is, you guessed it, Pho. We headed to the famous Vietnamese food Pho institution called Pho Hoa Pasteur for a bowl of raw beef pho noodles. This wasn’t the Pho place I had in mind, but it was right around the corner in District 3 so I thought we’d give it a try. I was not overly impressed with the soup and I needed to put a lot of condiments in the bowl to make it flavorful. Pho is typically a street food in Vietnam and I felt that the steeper price of 70K dong for a bowl reflected the fact that we were in a restaurant vs. a street food stall. Pho Hoa Pasteur also has chain establishments in the US, however this is the only location in Ho Chi Minh city.
Last but not least for the best Vietnamese food in Saigon was an exotic choice: Snails! I tried eating snails in Vietnam for the first time because I couldn’t find live coconut worms. I wanted to eat live coconut worms and be a little more adventurous for you guys but the government is cracking down on the distribution of coconut worms, making it illegal. So, I settled for snails. First were sea snails fried in chili and salt which was a little overcooked but still great in flavor. Second was a Mekong Delta river sucking snail which was horrifying! The snail itself was green and honestly tasted like you were eating a a dirty piece of swamp water. You guys know that I love eating exotic foods but this sucking snail was just gross!
I know we missed A LOT of the best food in Ho Chi Minh city but hey, my stomach can only fit so much. We will be eating many more Vietnamese foods and trying street food in Vietnam throughout our other Vietnam travel vlog episodes, so leave your suggestions below! If you need to know in Vietnam where to eat then I can highly suggest Banh Mi Huynh Hoa and Banh Xeo 46A. The others were just okay. That’s it for our Saigon famous food tour… we hope you enjoyed!
