Auch in diesem Jahr hat der Regierungsrat die Urner Bevölkerung zur Landeswallfahrt zur Tellskapelle eingeladen – einem immer wieder eindrücklichen Ereignis.

Die Tellskapelle liegt an der Stelle, wo gemäss der Sage Wilhelm Tell vom Boot des Landvogts Gessler gesprungen ist, der sogenannten Tellsplatte in der Gemeinde Sisikon. Bereits 1388 wurde hier eine Kapelle errichtet; die heutige Kapelle wurde 1879/1880 erbaut. Sie ist mit vier Fresken des Basler Malers Ernst Stückelberg ausgeschmückt und zeigt den Rütlischwur, den Apfelschuss, den Tellsprung und Gesslers Tod in der Hohlen Gasse.

Die Tellskapelle ist eine 1880 erbaute Kapelle am Ufer des Vierwaldstättersees 3 km südlich des Urner Dorfes Sisikon. Sie liegt an der Tellsplatte, wo gemäss der Sage Wilhelm Tell vom Boot des Landvogts Gessler sprang, und ist mit vier Fresken des Baslers Ernst Stückelberg ausgeschmückt. Sie zeigen den Rütlischwur, den Apfelschuss, den Tellsprung und Gesslers Tod in der Hohlen Gasse.
Sisikon (453 m ü. M.) liegt am Ostufer des Urnersees auf dem Delta des Riemenstalderbaches und wird von markanten Voralpengipfeln (Fronalpstock, Kaiserstockkette) überragt. Weil hier der Urnersee beste Thermikbedingungen bietet, ist Sisikon unter Surfern beliebt. Dank des milden Klimas gedeihen hier auch Feigen und Kiwis.
The Tellskapelle is a chapel built in 1880 at the shore of Lake Lucerne 3 km south of the Uri village of Sisikon. It lies at the Tellsplatte, where according to legend William Tell leaped from the boat of the bailiff Gessler, and is decorated with four frescos by Ernst Stückelberg from Basel. They show the Rütli oath, the apple-shot, Tell's leap, and Gessler's death in the Hohle Gasse.
Sisikon (453 m above sea level) lies at the eastern shore of Lake Uri on the delta of the Riemenstalderbach creek and is towered over by striking alpine foothill mountains (Fronalpstock, Kaiserstock range). Sisikon is very popular with surfers because Lake Uri offers ideal thermal conditions here. Owing to the mild climate, figs and kiwis grow here.

Am 4. August 2018 kommt der Cliffdiving-Zirkus erstmals nach acht Jahren wieder in die Schweiz. In Sisikon treten die besten Klippenspringer der Welt gegeneinander an.

Sisikon, the gate to Uri, is situated on the upper shores of Lake Lucerne on the famous Axenstrasse (a road cut into the cliffs) and offers numerous possibilities for outings. From the village you have a fantastic view of the lake and the surrounding mountains.
From Sisikon you can reach the historical sites of original Switzerland by ship, train, car or on foot via the Swiss Path. The Tell chapel is still a very popular destination for visitors from far and near. Every year, thousands of people surge to this idyllic place on the shores of the Lake of Uri. Another attraction near Sisikon is Switzerland's biggest chime, which is located on the Swiss Path - a place with symbolic character. The chime can be put into operation by everyone daily from 9 a.m. every first ten minutes of an hour.

Switzerland hosts fifth stop of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series 2010
Mounted on an iconic landmark, surrounded by mountains up to 5,000 feet (1500m) high and towering over Switzerland's fourth largest lake -- the stage was set for the world's most accomplished high divers to take part in the first training session today in the picturesque village of Sisikon. After the closest competition to date in 2009, the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series will again visit William Tell's place on Saturday, August 28. The pressure at the top has been cranked up after the last competition in Italy and, with an eye on the final, the second to last stop will bring the tension close to boiling point.
