Cine Whooping Tex Randall
2020. Tex Randall, Big Texan
.
Canyon, Texas
In 1959 Tex Randall began life as what was then called Texas' Biggest Texan -- and he was.
The 47-foot-tall, seven-ton slouching cowboy was built of cement and steel by William Harry Wheeler, a high school shop teacher, for Wheeler's Western Store on US 60. The store -- which despite its name was not owned by Harry Wheeler -- sold Western clothing, so the seven-ton cowboy was outfitted with a bandana, a real Western-style shirt, and an enormous pair of Levi's jeans, courtesy of a local tent and awning shop. The galoot's lanky frame was supported by an ingenious network of steel struts and cables, anchoring him to the ground.
Decades passed. The Texas Dept. of Transportation rerouted US 60 through an underpass, cutting off Wheeler's drive-by traffic and driving the Western Store out of business. Panhandle winds shredded the cowboy's canvas duds. A semi crashed into his left boot, and the cigarette was shot out of his right hand.
Local leaders rallied for a Save the Cowboy campaign in 1987. The no-longer-fashionable cigarette was replaced with a spur. The cowboy was given a new face with a mustache, a new set of painted-on clothes -- and a new name, Tex Randall, in honor of his home in Randall County.
More decades passed. Panhandle winds again ravaged Tex, sandblasting away large portions of his skin and clothes. His fiberglass fingers crumbled. A local businessman bought the cowboy but gave up when he learned it would cost $50,000 to move him. Local boosters mounted an internet fundraising campaign, but the amount needed to save Tex seemed beyond their reach. Time appeared to have run out for the big cowboy.
Then an unlikely hero rode to the rescue: the formerly villainous Texas Dept. of Transportation, which in late 2013 set aside almost $300,000 to turn the land around Tex's boots into a park. Keith Brown, chairman of the Canyon Main Street Program, raised enough money to re-skin the statue (Tex even made a cameo appearance in the 2015 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue). Despite Tex's battered appearance, the cowboy was studied by engineers and found to be perfectly capable of handling yet another makeover. Repairs began in November 2015, and the new Tex -- who looks more 1959 than 1987 -- was completed in December 2016.
Although no longer the Biggest Texan -- that would be Sam Houston -- Tex Randall has lassoed the hearts of his hometown and his namesake state. He's an icon; he's something we can be proud of,

Dental Implants in Amarillo TX: Juanita | Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery of the Panhandle Region-
Dental implants are small, medical-grade titanium posts that act as a new root to support a single new tooth or multiple new teeth. Dental implants are long-lasting, integrated or fused to the jaw bone in a manner similar to a tooth. Unlike other tooth replacement options, dental implants can be placed the same day the existing teeth are removed to quickly restore your smile. Your implants are firmly affixed, do not shake loose, and can last a lifetime. Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons are an integral part of the restorative dentistry process for a permanent cosmetic and functional prosthetic.
As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Bryan Bailey at Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Panhandle Region manages a variety of issues relating to the mouth, gums, teeth, and general facial region. Hi, my name is Juanita, and I’d recommend Dr. Bailey. I bring my daughters over here, Mica and Carley. They needed their wisdom teeth out, and some implants. I was nervous to begin with, but they make it so easy. It was a great experience. The people over here care about you. We had calls after, so I really, really appreciate all the help they’ve done for us. From my point of view, if you need implants, or wisdom teeth out for your kids or for yourself, I really recommend for you to come and see Dr. Bailey. It’s a great experience. Everything seems so easy afterwards.

World's Biggest Steak

-----------------------------------------------
This is the monstrous meal which could bring a tear to the eye of even the biggest of meat lovers - a 150 ounce STEAK.
The rump steak is 12 inches wide, 12 inches long, a further four inches thick and takes over two hours to cook medium rare. Brave diners are invited to take on the 'high-steaks' challenge and polish off the slab of meat, along with a portion of chips and onion rings. Anyone who manages to scoff the steak in under an hour - gets the £110 meal on the house. Since the challenge was launched at The Duck Inn at Oakenshaw, Redditch last year, only a handful of diners have attempted it and not one has managed to finish it. For those less brave the pub also offer an 80, 90, 100 and 120oz steak. Pub landlords Ashley and Louise Gargan said they introduced the supersize steaks to the pub's menu after customers asked if they could offer a bigger steak. The locally-sourced 150oz steak is almost ten times larger than the standard 16oz they previously offered customers. In fact the 9lb rump is so large it weighs the same as a baby and may also stake it's claim as the world's largest. Ashley said: Our steaks have always been really popular and a few of our customers asked if we could do a bigger steak, so that's what prompted us to introduce the 60, 80 and 150oz steaks. The 150oz steak is huge, people think it'seasy to complete but when faced with it, it's a lot tougher than you think. The steak is hard on it's own and then there's the chips and the onion rings to contend with too. We've had a handful of people try it, some book it as surprise for their friend's birthday. The birthday boy comes in and orders a regular meal or steak and is shocked when we bring out the 150oz, Those that try it say it's beautiful meat bt the sheer size of it makes it difficult to complete. We've had a few come close but no-one has managed to finish it yet.
There's been a variety of different reactions from those who've attempted it, some go really pale or break into a sweat and give in. Whereas others go for a walk round the restaurant to try and make room for some more or order a soft drink to wash it down but all have thrown the towel in, in the end.
