Outer Banks Golf Courses
WATCH IN 1080P. Not only is it true that the Outer Banks has some of the best golf course ranges in North Carolina, these courses also provide some of the most scenic views in the United States. For golf lovers, an Outer Banks beach vacation with family can also result in a few relaxing days playing on these award-winning courses.
On the Inner Banks, golf enthusiasts will find The Carolina Club - in the town of Grandy, and its sister course The Pointe - located in Powell’s Point. Both were designed by Russell Breeden and feature impeccably manicured A-1 bent grass greens with plush fairways. The Carolina Club is a 7,000 yard, 72 par championship course with a fully equipped pro shop and Tucker’s Sports Bar & Grille. The Pointe’s course provides one of the finest practice ranges, including putting and chipping greens and a practice bunker, as well as a fully stocked pro shop and Keefer’s Bar & Grille. Both courses are open to the public and provide PGA professional golf instruction for groups or individuals.
Also located in the town of Powell’s Point is the Kilmarlic Golf Club. This course is situated on 605 acres of sprawling wetlands amidst canopies of giant oaks, pines and dogwood trees, creating a unique partnership between golf and nature. Making Golf Styles Magazine’s list as a “Top 100 Courses You Can Play in North Carolina” for three straight years, Kilmarlic was also the only Outer Banks golf course selected by GoIf Week Magazine as a “Top 15 You Can Play in North Carolina” in 2013. Designed by award-winning course architect, Tom Steele, Kilmarlic Golf Club was selected to host the North Carolina Open in 2004 and 2009. Carolina Design Realty guests who reserve a home belonging in the K Club Amenity Program receive special golf rates, as well as instructional clinics while vacationing on the Outer Banks.

Flower Show No. 2 (1972) by Newton Ancarrow
Noted environmentalist Newton Ancarrow documented and photographed over 400 species of wildflowers along the banks of the James River in Richmond, Virginia from 1968 to 1971. He created a slideshow that he gave to garden clubs, women's groups, and other civic organizations. He also typed out the script of his presentation, and recorded it on audio cassette. Using the audio, his script, and digitized images of the slides, VCU Libraries has been able to recreate his hour-long slideshow. For more information about Ancarrow and his work, see the online exhibit and the Ancarrow Wildflower Digital Archive.
