Italy travel: Amalfi Coast. Sorrento's evening meal was another sub-par dinner in a stunning setting. It's easy to see why Perillo Tours would like the looks of this place, which we dubbed The Greenhouse. The setting and landscaping were gorgeous. As for the meal: unfortunately, we have never sent back so many merely picked at plates. All the lush greenery outside would be worth a look during the daytime. We thought the cafeteria-style seating could have been broken up nicely by bringing some plants inside, and thus compartmentalizing sections of the dining room floor. That might also have allowed the waiters some centralized kiosks for retrieval of necessities and deposit for used items. Those poor guys had to walk an eighth of a mile to get us a glass of water!

Day trip from Positano - Monte Faito
A day trip by car from Positano to Monte Faito, one of the tallest mountains in the area.
To get there you are best off using a GPS. You can drive towards Naples and take various turnings off to the right that will lead you up through Arola, Moiano and other mountain villages, winding higher until you reach the very top.
Stop off at the Bar Belvedere for fantastic views across Vesuvius, Sorrento and Naples. Work up higher through the chestnut forests and stop for a walk near the abandoned stables (theres a small kiosk with horses painted on it by the side of the road, follow the pathway to the left of the kiosk).
Drive up to the very top where the road ends and you will find a small church with more breathtaking views.
In the winter you can often find snow, dress warmly!
There are a couple of places to eat lunch up there but we found them all closed for winter. We drove back down to Vico Equense and ate at the Agriturismo di Nonno Luigino, which was very good!

What started out as creating a video of our some of our girls trip moments for my Goddaughter Kendle to share with her family, has grown legs. It has become a 9 minute short movie of our time in the Amalfi Coast 3 nights & 4 days. I hope you like because I do. I relived every moment, each bite & that view while making this video. I missed Positano as I drove away & can’t wait to go back!
Since friends have asked for my recommendations & travel tips down there, I included them in below description. Feel free to share with those interested in visiting one of the most dreamy places on earth.
Southern Italy is amazing & should be experienced at least once, if not often! I have had many requests for information & how to get there, so here are my recommendations & a glimpse into My Amalfi.
Train from any major city in Italy or fly directly in Naples
Carmina the driver I use & meets me with a sign at the Naples Centrale train station
Positano
Limoncello, Lemons, Seafood, Olive Oil, custom Positano sandals, beautiful ceramic dishes! The whole town is unreal & breathtaking.
Hotel Poseidon Small family run hotel & is one of my favorite hotels. Fantastic view, great TripAdvisor ratings, breakfast incl, 3-8 snacks for happy hour at outside pool bar. Plus free use of a vintage convertible VW Beatle to drive the Amalfi (first come first serve).
La Sponda at @lesirenuse
Well deserved Michelin Star restaurant. While they don’t offer the Michelin menu at lunch, I love the daytime view and extra attention, plus the food is still spectaclicur. Say hi to Giulio @fuscogiullo
@MaestrosTerrace at Villa TreVille
Seaside fine dining experience with panoramic views of Positano, from the terrace of Villa TreVile, formally the home of Maestro Franco Zeffirelli. Italian director of Romeo & Juliette, among many others. This place is a photographers heaven.
When in Positano make sure to stop at one of the artisan custom made sandal spots. An ancient tradition passed on from father Mastro Vinenzo to son Nana’ di Caiazzo is my favorite, only steps from Hotel Poseidon. The slabs are made of Tuscan certified leather with anti-slip soles & the tops of Swarovski crystals, snakeskin or leather. Any color you want and made to fit your feet perfectly in 20 minutes, and open until 11:30pm
Praiano “Open Beach”
A small fishing cove just south of Positano, nearly untouched by time. A short 15 minute drive or 5 minute water taxi away from Positano.
Bar Mare Petit (Donna Clelia) - Hidden Gem, Sea To Table - The absolute freshest seafood with a beautiful presentation & hospitality. Most likely you’ll be greeted and served by the owner Salvatore who has lived in the house upstairs. Originally owned by his grandfather since the 1930's with traditional Italian recipes from his grandmother. Bar Mare Petit, also known by Donna Clelia feels like you're a friend of the family .... with an amazing table on the beach! Make sure to take home a few bottles of his homemade Lemoncello.
Capri
30 minute fairy ride from Positano will cost €18. Tickets at the kiosk on the right walkway of Positano beach. Sometimes if hotel rates are too high in Positano, I stay in Capri. Check as they can cancel ferries if seas are rough. If so, take a boat to Sorrento or another place and drive back.

Fliou Club Cool small fun club wandered & stayed all night @fliouclub_sorrento
The “Lemon Restaurant” @parruchianosorrento oldest restaurant in Sorrento. Still family run with 225 tables, can Serve 900 people at one time with an average ticket of €25. Started small and grew inside of a beautiful green house of lemon trees. It’s a instagram paradise with all the lemon trees.

All The Food You Can Only Find At A McDonald's In Italy
We went to a McDonald's branch in Italy to see what's on the menu. The branch we visited was in the iconic city of Venice, but sadly it was not on a canal. We ordered some items that are only sold in Italy.
We got the My Selection Chicken burger, which has chicken breast, provolone cheese, and yellow tomato sauce, the Mozzarella McBites, the Parmareggio Snack, which is basically a 280gr parmesan bar, and also chicken wings.

My name is Mike Jones, and I'm a barista at Third Rail Coffee right by Washington Square Park in New York City. I'm going to teach you some basic coffee-making skills.
I'm going to show you how to clean an espresso machine. Now, the basic thing that you do is a process called backflushing. Now what this is, is instead of using this basket here in the portafilter which has holes in the bottom for the espresso to go through, you use a blank one right here which is solid on the base. You can pop it out and see. And so what you do is you put it in the machine, same as if you were extracting espresso, but pull shots at 5 seconds intervals. And I'll show you that a little bit more. First thing you want to do is scrub the screen. This is a pretty standard espresso brush. And as you're running some water, you can just scrub the base. Now if you're doing this at the end of the night at a busy cafe, you would actually take the screen of. But to give it a good clean, this is sufficient. Put the portafilter in. Ran it for 5 seconds and then stopped. And then dump out the dirty water. And then you're going to repeat that between 5 and 10 times. So assuming we've done that, the final step is to run the water and then wiggle the portafilter around. This cleans out around the edges up in the grouphead. So at the end of the night, you're going to want to do that same backflushing process but this time with chemicals. The common ones are from Urnex. And they're either called Cafiza, Full Circle, and there's a whole range of them but pretty much every coffee shop is using the chemical from that company. So you just use a small amount about the size of a dime, and place it right in that basket there. And then you just go through that process of running 5 seconds intervals and then at the end wiggling it around. You might want to give this one a more thorough wipe with the rag at the end so there's no excess chemicals. And that's the basics of cleaning the espresso machine.

Chalet Ciro 1952 a Cafe in London UK offering traditional Gelato and Donuts
Chalet Ciro was established by Mr. Ciro Fummo in 1952 on the waterfront promenade of Naples, Italy. In 1978 his daughter Rosaria and nephew Antonio De Martino took over the management of this tiny kiosk in sunny Mergellina.
