The Positive Shop in Zia. High up the mountain side, is a lovely typical albeit a bit touristy, quaint village on the Aegean Sea island of Cos or #Kos called Zia. I love that name, Zia! Here, higher up in town close to the Greek Orthodox church is a cute, motivational store called The Positive Shop.

The Positive Shop is a collection of painted, home-crafted quotes on a various range of canvas’ and sizes. Their home shop slogan is, “Your wings already exist, all you have to do is fly.” #thepositiveshop
My son’s next comment was, “I wonder how many people jumped off these clips only to learn they can’t fly! That is typical Dutch thinking. He and my other son loved the shop though. I was not allowed to photograph inside, but she really wanted a picture with two of her new clients. My sons! They loved the positive vibe and motivational quotes painted uniquely adding extra weight to the words. Lovely shop, friendly artist and very happy our kids support local art.
The quotes on their hand-painted canvas’ are:
“It always seems impossible until it is done”
And
“When nothing goes Right. You go Left.”
(The boys tossed to see who was allowed to buy that one!)
When in Kos, Greece, make sure you make a trip to Zia and check out The Positive Shop! We ate just across the street and up a few stories on a cliff at the Old House Cafe Bar. Were the service was just as friendly and positive as at the shop down yonder!

Zia Village in Kos island. It’s an old mountain village with lots of shops and cafes. One of the best spots where you can watch sunset, beautiful sunset view.
Quad ride to Zia and hiking Mount Dikeos, Kos Greece – Pal Mont
In the final episode of gorgeous Greek islands, we decide to spend our last day on Kos by hiking to its highest point, Mount Dikeos. The trail begins in Zia, the highest inhabited village of the island, at 350 m above sea level. The distance from Kefalos, where we are staying, to Zia is a little more than 30 km, with a total ascent of approximately 500 m. Going there by bike, then hiking Mount Dikeos, and subsequently coming back to Kefalos would be extremely challenging for two not-so-trained guys like us, so we wanted to take a bus. However, it is not possible to travel from Kefalos to Zia and back by public transport in a single day and therefore we opt for the next cheapest means of transport: a quad. It was the first time for both of us and we had a lot of fun!
Once in Zia, we park the quad and take the path to Mount Dikeos, which in less than two hours leads us to the summit. The view from there is very beautiful and you can see the entire island in all directions.
On the way back our minds are filled with happy memories from the great time we spent among the Greek islands, remembering the things we saw on this amazing trip, and sadly realising that our time here has come to an end, but also getting already excited for what lays ahead of us: a time of change, moving to a new country, starting a new job, meeting new people in a city where we don’t know anyone yet…
