Battery Park New York, Vacation destinations in north america
Battery Park is a 25-acre (10 ha) public park located at the Battery, the southern tip of Manhattan Island in New York City, facing New York Harbor. The area and park are named for the artillery batteries that were positioned there in the city's early years to protect the settlement behind them.
The southern shoreline of Manhattan Island had long been known as The Battery since the 17th century when the area was part of the Dutch Settlement of New Amsterdam. At the time, an artillery battery there served to protect the seaward approaches to the town. The Battery continued its function during the colonial era, and was the center of Evacuation Day celebrations commemorating the departure of the last British troops in the United States after the American Revolutionary War. Just prior to the War of 1812, the West Battery, later renamed Castle Clinton, was erected on a small artificial offshore island nearby, to replace the earlier batteries in the area; later, when the land of Battery Park was created, it encircled and incorporated the island.
The relatively modern park was mostly created by landfill starting from 1855, resulting in a landscaped open space at the foot of the heavily developed mainland of downtown. Skyscrapers now occupy most of the original land, stopping abruptly where the park begins. On State Street, the former harbor front and the northern boundary of the park, a single Federal mansion, the James Watson House, survives as part of the Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton; until the 1820s, the city's stylish residential district was north of this house, between Broadway and the Hudson River.
While the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel and Battery Park Underpass were under construction from 1940–52, the park was partly closed; it was later re-landscaped and expanded by 2 acres (0.81 ha). Peter Minuit Plaza was built in 1955; the East Coast Memorial was dedicated in 1963. Battery Park was included within a group of historic waterfront sites designated Harbor Park, by the government of New York State, in 1982.

2012 ISPaD Conference-Dr. Dastidar takes words from imporomptu speakers
2012 ISPaD Conference-Dr. Sachi Dastidar takes words from imporomptu speakers: Mr. Jagat Motwani on creation of Asian nation-states, Mr. Shuvo Dastidar thanks all participants, Ms. Sweta Goswami offers a youthful perspective on the matters discussed at the conference, Ms. Sukrita Paul Kumar offers some suggestions for improving the format of future conferences, Mr. mentions the Sindhi population's issues, Dr. Sachi Dastidar manages to summarize & bring an end to the official panel presentations segment of the conference.
The ISPaD (Indian Subcontinent Partition Documentation) Project's Annual Partition Studies Conference that was held in 2012 at The State University of New York's Old Westbury campus. The Conference is held and sponsored by the Politics, Eonomics & Law Department at SUNY Old Westbury. As previously, The ISPaD Project is the hosting organization but the papers presented are quite varied, in both the specific partition being focused upon as well as partition-related topics being addressed.
The ISPaD Project's primary focal point is ensuring that narratives of those present at the time of partition & their experiences are not lost. We aspire to capture & chronicle as many of these first-hand narratives as possible. The interviews conducted by The ISPaD Project are part of the first & only effort, thus far, to provide an accurate record of the events that have transpired and continue on, since the partition of the Indian subcontinent in 1947 and 1971 - with an emphasis on personal experiences.
In addition to ISPaD's interviews being readily accessible by the public via the internet, many articles, books, documents, maps, photographs, videos, etc. have been researched, & are also available in The ISPaD Project's continually expanding libraries. ISPaD's efforts began informally in the Dastidar family's basement, then documentation expanded onto the internet, and finally our efforts brought us into the public eye with the first Partition Studies Conference at The State University of New York's Old Westbury campus and publication of papers in a journal that coincides with the conference. The ISPaD Project has grown beyond the Dastidar family basement into offices we maintain in space donated by SUNY Old Westbury as well as space donated in Jamaica, Queens in the law offices of Ashok Karmaker, Esq. Most recently, The ISPaD Project has moved into a home of it own at 85-60 Parsons Boulevard in Jamaica, NY an address that allows us to be close to a demographic that may have experienced Partition. As The ISPaD Project, our library, and collection of interviews has grown, so too has the scope of our collection grown: bringing forth items and individuals from around the globe - each with its own unique story to share.

Most of our books have been donated to The ISPaD Project since its inception, many by the authors themselves. Some books about the Partition of India were published in Bengali and Hindi, even though the majority of our collection are books published in English. We also have some books that were not published for circulation in the United States but were donated as gifts for our Project from abroad. These titles have either been signed by the author and are considered to be some our most valuable research materials. Visitors are welcome to visit The ISPaD Project site and use all these materials at their leisure but because of the rarity and, in some cases, unique nature of much of our collection we do not lend out items. The ISPaD Project site is also home to Partition-era mementos of protectors, refugees, and survivors of Partition. The walls are lined with artwork, maps, and framed collections of items - all relevant to India's Partition. ISPaD welcomes any and all donations of books, videos, research material that is relevant to Partition of the Indian Subcontinent. We also welcome any donations of Partition-era memorabilia that people or organizations would be willing to part with to be put on display by our Project.

Vanderbilt Parkway - Autumn 2015
No music, no special effects - just a very leisurely ride on the Vanderbilt Parkway, from 75th Avenue and 199th Street to Alley Pond Park. The red-painted guard rail marks the end of the Queens section of the parkway. The Long Island Motor Parkway (LIMP), also known as the Vanderbilt Parkway and Motor Parkway, was a parkway on Long Island, New York, in the United States. It was the first roadway in the world designed for automobile use only. The road was privately built by William Kissam Vanderbilt II with overpasses and bridges to remove intersections. It opened in 1908 as a toll road and closed in 1938 when it was taken over by the state of New York in lieu of back taxes. Parts of the parkway survive today in sections of other roadways and as a bicycle trail in Queens. About 3 miles.

Date of sighting: August 08, 2015
Location of sighting: Trenton, New Jersey
Story:
I was outside on my porch with a friend talking when I looked up in the sky and saw over 100 individual fireball UFO's gliding slowly in a military formation style. I knew they were UFO's the first time I layed eyes on them. I never seen this many on any UFO video I've seen in the daylight or in the evening. My friend was in a state of shock and ran inside but came back and recorded what you see on the video. I ran in to get my binoculars and looked at them as I have seen stars in the form of nothing but a light with no formation. The time it took each of us to run in the house was quick and these UFO's were gliding at a slow pace.
I have 4 recordings of these UFO's but in the other recordings, they came from a different direction and at a faster pace in the formation of 2's. This recording happened on May 26, 2012 and the other 3 recordings happened on May 26, 2015 at the same location on my porch as I came home but recorded this with my cell phone.
If you cannot see the first video I uploaded it on Youtube under the title Unidentified Flying Objects In The City. All these objects disappeared in the night sky.

USA: Students and police clash at NY college anti-Petraeus centre
Dozens of students and left-wing activists descended on the City College of New York on Thursday afternoon to protest against the closure of the Morales-Shakur Centre, a student-run community space which the university is attempting to convert into a 'career centre'. Two people were arrested for disorderly conduct, with one person reportedly being pepper-sprayed by police.
The Morales-Shakur Student Centre opened in 1989 after a victory by students protesting tuition increases. It was named after prominent Puerto Rican revolutionary Guillermo Morales and former Black Panther leader Assata Shakur. Both are City College alumni who now live in political exile in Cuba.
In recent months, the centre has become a base for protests against former CIA Director David Petraeus, who was given a $200,000 teaching job at the City University of New York. Student activists have called the decision to close the centre a politically-motivated attempt to stop the campaign.
