Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! (1936) Abstract Expressionism Abstract Art United States
tonykwk39@gmail.com
Rochelle Blumenfeld is an award winning artist from Pittsburgh, PA. Her paintings are represented in many private and public collections including the Museum of Art, Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has had numerous exhibitions throughout the United States and Europe. Her work has been included in the Bicentennial Exhibit of “American Painters in Paris” in Paris, France, Copley Society, Boston, Dunferline Fife, Scotland, and the Westmoreland Museum of Art, Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
My Notes
I have been exhibiting my paintings throughout the United States and Europe for some time. They are included in many collections (See Shows/Awards). I like a large canvas because it gives me room to reach and to stretch. I like the act, the physicality of painting and I try to reflect that in my work. The shapes I create bend and twist, push and pull as people do. The pillars in “Bridges” support each other at the paintings focal point. My paintings are my own worlds, ones that I can control. Although my works are sometime non-representational, they like the world around us are composed of motion, light, and space. “Begin Again” is a good example of a painting in constant motion.
Another path that I take in my work reflects the shapes of the natural world. Many of my paintings are inspired by flowers, moonlight, sun, storms, mountains, etc. These paintings create another solid and sedentary; they move when the light changes and plays on their surfaces. “Skylights” is a darker painting with light, perhaps lightning coming through the clouds and lighting up a portion of the mountains, while leaving the rest in shadow.
I use a strong diagonal thrust to add power to the motion. I work by applying many layers of paint to the canvas, building a complex surface of planes and color. Visually I like the sense of depth that I can get from this technique and thematically it reflects the way I see the world. Often my paintings are diptychs or tripychs or more. It helps me tell my story and makes shipping easier.
As you look through Fine Art Gallery, please keep in mind that I often paint on commission and that doing so is a challenge I welcome. Contact me for commission requests.
Some of the paintings are re-created on canvas, using a a very fine method, called Giclee. Each painting is custom made as orders are received. All giclee re-creations are hand-signed and numbered. They arrive ready to hang. I will apply some hand painting to the canvas, to enhance the image and add to its individuality.

The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg is a baccalaureate degree-granting unit and regional campus of the University of Pittsburgh. As an integral part of a state-related institution, the Greensburg Campus provides educational opportunities to both traditional and nontraditional students through curricular and co-curricular experiences that are focused primarily on the arts and sciences and some selected professional or pre-professional programs that are grounded in traditional liberal arts disciplines. As an undergraduate school within the broader University, Pitt-Greensburg's faculty places primary emphasis on teaching excellence while maintaining a commitment to scholarship and public service.
A common part of the undergraduate educational experience is acquiring a certain depth and breadth of knowledge in a specific discipline or area that defines a student's major focus of study. Equally important is the opportunity for each student to acquire the fundamentals of a liberal arts and sciences education. The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg is committed to a General Education Program that will give its students a broader understanding of the human experience and the fundamental skills necessary for academic success and learning throughout their lifetimes.
Pitt-Greensburg recognizes that good citizenship, civic leadership, and full participation in an information-based, global society are a function of educational excellence. Founded in 2008, the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg D3 Club Ice Hockey Team is an ACHA Division III school participating in the College Hockey Association and plays teams throughout the Mid Atlantic Region at the DII and DIII levels. Our program is dedicated to providing student athletes with a quality education while being able to play the sport that they are so passionate about. In the past two years, the team has made it to the post season. In 2012, the Bobcats came in 2nd place overall.
Our home rink is Center Ice Arena in Delmont, Pa., located about twenty minutes from campus. The Bobcats play three 20-minute periods per game, excluding over time. The games are scheduled on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Practices are held once or twice per week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays at night, after all the classes have let out. Education is the team's number one priority. When scheduling the season, the team takes into consideration important events during the academic year, such as finals and midterms. A player will never be penalized for missing a practice or a game due to an academic conflict. Pitt-Greensburg is also the only team in the division with three regular season jerseys as well as a pink breast cancer awareness jersey! The team actively participates in charity work, such as the Toys for Tots program and Breast Cancer Charity games. The Bobcats are a proud supporter of Hockey Saves.
