Railways of Great Britain....The Keith and Dufftown Railway...The Whisky Line ..June 2019
Produced with CyberLink PowerDirector 14
This is the railway for you if you like Whisky, you can visit many distilleries in this area.
On our train we had a party of German visitors who were visiting the distilleries and sampling as many Whiskies as they could while in the area.
You can see three as you ride along this picturesque line, the scenery changes from hills/mountains, trees, to open fields. At certain times of the year you can get a view of the castle .
Sadly no steam on this line although they did have a visiting loco a year or so ago.

It was closed to passengers in 1968 by BR bit remained open for grain traffic and passenger excursions until around 1991. Keith and Dufftown Railway - out and about in Moray, Scotland
Debbie and I had a great couple of hours out at the Keith and Dufftown Railway recently and thought we'd share it with you.
It's only a few minutes down the road from our loverly holiday cottages at and it's a great place for the entire family. Not only can you enjoy the station and it's excellent cafe, but you can also ride the trains up and down the line.

Take a ride along one of Scotland's most atmospheric preserved railways and discover what it must have been like to ride on one of the many Highland branch lines in the last days before closure. Keith & Dufftown Railway 150th Anniversary Celebrations 46512 Steam Train 2012
Steam Returns To The Keith and Dufftown Railway
Steam returned to the Keith and Dufftown Railway for the first time in over 50 years over the 12-15th of October 2012. Known as the Whisky Line, the line travels through some stunning and rural Scottish scenery, passing several distilleries on the way giving the line it's unique branding.
Ivatt class 2 number 46512 E V Cooper Engineer was hired for the weekend from the Strathspey Railway. With gradients of up to 1 in 60, the 5 coach load would be a challenge for the Ivatt and some fears were proved correct as she slipped several times departing Dufftown.
Hope the event was a success and that frequent steam trains will once again depart Dufftown for Keith, every train I travelled on was full so I hope it was a commercial success. Shots are departing Dufftown climbing to Parkmore Bank, cresting the summit at Parkmore, departing Drummuir and arriving into Keith Town Station.

The Whisky Line, Spirit Of Speyside 2015
This was one of the festival events I attended that (almost) didn’t involve whisky.
Boarding at the old train station in Keith, not far from Strathisla, the trip is an eleven-mile line linking Dufftown to Keith. The line was reopened by volunteers during 2000 and 2001, and passes through some of Scotland's most picturesque scenery, with forest and farmland, lochs and glens, castles and distilleries. The line is overgrown in some parts, and slowly travels up and down through some beautiful scenery. The whole thing feels a bit like the train in Spirited Away. Speaking of spirits, we also got a dram of Glenlivet 12 and a bit of shortbread to keep us happy. The Scandinavians in the carriage behind us had a singsong, mutilating We’ll Meet Again in the process. But sitting on a slow train to god knows where with the sun flickering through the trees and deer occasionally appearing, they could have been singing Cannibal Corpse’s Fucked With A Knife and I wouldn’t have cared. It was bliss.

Starting Progress On The Dufftown Loop: Part 3, Keith & Dufftown Railway
Part 3 of a variety of clips from the starting work on installing a new loop at Dufftown station. The video shows the volunteers working on permanent way. In this part they the team are busy moving the rails into place and ready for slotting into the chairs once the main running line rails have been cut to allow the point to be created.

Railway Walks Full Episode 4 : The Whisky Train - Speyside - The Strathspey Railway
Her first walking foray into Scotland has a very distinct flavour to it: whisky! The Speyside Way is one of Scotland's great walking routes, and between the villages of Craigellachie and Ballindalloch it follows the route of the railway that once served a remote area and a world-famous drinks industry.

Train Simulator | Keith and Dufftown Railway Development Timelapse (V2.1)
A timelapse along my Keith & Dufftown Railway route for Train Sim showing of some of the new features and improvements that can be expected in the latest version. I released this route a few years back but have been getting back into Train Sim development. This was meant to be a quick fix for a small problem. However it resulted in complete rebuilding of scenery between Dufftown and Drummuir and re-signaling the entire route along with many other improvements!
