Legends Resort - The Myrtle Beach Golf Buzz
Legends Resort of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is the focus of this edition of The Myrtle Beach Golf Buzz with Blair O'Neal. Presented by Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday - GolfHoliday.com.
Blair talks with Matt Biddington, Golf Professional at the Legends Resort and Golf.
Three different championship courses, all 4.5 Stars by Golf Digest says Matt. We'll start off with the Heathland, that opened first back in 1990, and it's definitely the more forgiving of the three. It's a Scottish links style golf course, Par 71, designed by Tom Doak.
The Moorland is the second course. It was rated the 37th most difficult golf courses in the United States by Golf Digest, so it's a little more challenging. A P. B. Dye Design, a lot of elevated tees, elevated greens, very scenic out there.
The Parkland, came a year after that in 1992, and is a more traditional style, tree-lined fairways, and it goes back through the housing developments and the golf villas that we have here on site.
In addition to the three courses we have here on site, we also have a 35-acre lit practice range as well as an acre-and-a-half putting green behind the clubhouse. There a lot of things to do right here.
Can you tell me about one of the toughest holes out here? asks Blair. It would be on the Moorland course, the sixteenth hole, and actually has it's own nickname, so you know its a good golf hole. It's called Hell's Half-acre. It's actually a drivable par four,
but if you don't hit the green, then that's where the Hell's Half Acre comes in. There's a lot of waste areas, a lot of small pot bunkers, a very difficult hole. It's the ultimate risk-reward, and par is a very good score.
To book at tee time at Legends Resort, go to legendsgolf.com, or golfholiday.com.

Myrtle Beach is a coastal resort city in South Carolina.
It is the de facto hub of both the Myrtle Beach metropolitan area and the Grand Strand, a complex of beach towns and barrier islands stretching from Little River to Georgetown, South Carolina.
Arising from a getaway for lumber workers from Conway, Myrtle Beach has rapidly developed into a major tourist destination in the Southeastern United States.
Myrtle Beach has a humid subtropical climate. The city experiences mild winters and a humid summer.
The Grand Strand area receives a large influx of visitors during the spring, summer and fall months, with over 10 million tourists visiting Myrtle Beach and the surrounding areas.
The area's attractions include the beaches and many golf courses, as well as a number of amusement parks, an aquarium, dozens of restaurants including seafood restaurants, the large shopping complexes as Broadway at the Beach or Coastal Grand Mall, the largest mall of South Carolina, an IMAX theater, dinner theater, nightclubs, and tourist shops.
The area is home to scores of hotels, many of which are beachfront hotels.
Since 1986, Myrtle Beach has been the home of a theater industry, spawned by Calvin Gilmore and his original Carolina Opry show, which continues to be a draw for tourists 23 years later.
Other attractions include the Myrtle Beach State Park and fishing. The area also has a Ripley's Aquarium and Hard Rock Park, an amusement park (temporarily closed).
Myrtle Beach is home to two non-major sports teams, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, a Carolina League baseball team and Atlanta Braves farm franchise, and the Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz, an ECHL hockey team that will eventually play regularly at Coastal Carolina University in nearby Conway.
Myrtle Beach's economy is mostly tourism-based, with tourism bringing in millions of dollars each season
The other attractions are :
Childrens Museum of South Carolina
Family Kingdom Amusement Park and Oceanfront Water Park
Brookgreen Gardens
Pavilion Nostalgia Park Park
Ripleys Aquarium
Springmaid Beach Pier
Hard Rock Park
