A Timelapse Trip - Top of the Mark, San Francisco 3-5-15
This timelapse video, shot from the Top o' the Mark in San Francisco, California on March 5, 2015 captures the transition from evening sunlight to nighttime cityscape (the title in the movie incorrectly says March 25).
Had I realized the reflections from the interior would become evident as darkness fell outside, I would have put the cameral closer to the window pane.

OtisHouse Traction Elevators-Intercontinental Mark Hopkins-San Francisco, CA
This hotel is at the very top of Nob Hill. These are pretty interesting elevators. They've been modernized three times. Originally vintage OTIS black buttons, modded by Westinghouse, modded by OTIS with Series 1. I find the large indicator very interesting. There are original OTIS indicators on the top floor. We end the video with an awesome view of SF. Sorry for the short video-there were other elevators I had to check out before I had to head back to Sacramento. Keep in mind that all of my SF videos were taken in one day!

After we got a table, we got a view in a different direction, looking toward the south and west. In the south, in the distance, you can see part of the Bay, as well as the Bayview Hunter's Point Shipyard.

San Francisco Skyline from Top of the Mark Restaurant (Mark Hopkins Hotel)
So you can see us getting kicked out of the Top of the Mark Restaurant at the International Mark Hopkins Hotel at the start of the video, but after that, you can see some nice views of San Francisco from the windows at the top of the building! Very prestigious restaurant, many sticks lodged securely up bums, but check it out!

InterContinental Mark Hopkins San Francisco room tour
Perched on San Francisco's Nob Hill, overlooking the city, the InterContinental Mark Hopkins ( has been an iconic destination for locals and visitors since opening in 1926. With old-school luxury, resort amenities and modern InterContinental style and service, the hotel is a perfect home base from which to explore this eclectic city.
As the first stop on my luxury California roadtrip in the 2015 Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, I drove up from Los Angeles and spent the weekend. Here is a video tour of my View room. Except for the fog, it normally offers a view of the Golden Gate Bridge and always provides a view of the entire city, from bridge to bridge.

Luxury stay at the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental Hotel San Francisco
Luxury stay at the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental Hotel San Francisco
Intercontinental Mark Hopkins Hotel San Francisco
We stayed at the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins in San Francisco for 2 nights during the 4th of July long weekend. As a member of Intercontinental Ambassador program, I got a room upgrade to the 15th floor with some spectacular view of the city.
Intercontinental Mark Hopkins hotel is 90+ years old so don't come here if you seeking something sleek and modern. For sleek and modern, go stay at the sister property, Intercontinental San Francisco instead.
The hotel itself was clean and elegant with lots of historic charm. We had drinks, and dessert up at the Top Of The Mark, lounge/restaurant the first night we were there. As hotel guests, we did not need to pay the cover charge. For non hotel guests, the cover charge is $15.00 per person.
Many people seem to come up to the Top Of The Mark, and turn back when they find out that they have to pay the $15.00/per person cover. Personally, I thought the view from the Top Of The Mark was much better than from the view from The View at the Marriott Marquis which we visited 2 years ago.
The $15.00 cover charge and a host seating people really helped to speed up entrance vs the total cluster f&*( that we experienced at The View at the Marriott Marquis.
Unique Otis/Westnnghouse Elevators - InterContinental Mark Hopkins - San Francisco California
These got a pretty unique mod, I'm guessing these were originally Otis then modernized by Westinghouse, interesting how they incorporated the Westy indicator in the series 1 panel. Strange how only 2 of the elevators go up to the Top of the Mark.
