Volterra, Tuscany, Italy
Volterra, in Tuscany, Italy is one of the most attractive of all the Tuscan walled towns. It's amazingly preserved. The town is about a thousand years old and the buildings we see today easily date back to the Middle Ages and the earliest foundations of Volterra go back to the Etruscan days, nearly 3000 years ago. This movie features local Tuscan guide, Annie Adair, who will take us on an extended walking tour through Volterra. Annie explains about the history, architecture, culture and daily life in the city today. She conducts regular tours in Volterra and Tuscany, and can be found at her website, for more information.

4 DAYS IN TUSCANY: Florence, Siena, Chianti Wine Tasting, and more!
Tuscany was our second stop in our 20-day babymoon in Italy! We used Siena and Florence as our base for travel to the surrounding countryside. From Siena, we joined a small group tour and visited Monterrigioni, San Gimignano, and Volterra. From Florence, we joined a wine tasting tour that took us to wineries of both Florentine and Sienese Chianti Classico wines and to the small towns of Greve and Castellina. Tuscany was gorgeous!

Being for centuries at the center of Italian history explains why this beautiful region has so many Unesco world heritage sights and iron-strong traditions.
Rustic farms, manicured fields, cypress driveways and roman-medieval-renaissance citadels overlooking vast green landscapes from hill tops.
1)San Gimignano
San Gimignano is a small medieval hill town in the province of Siena. Famous for its medieval architecture, preserved tall tower houses and encircling walls located on the top of a hill. Also known for it's San Gimignano wine, Vernaccia.
2)Agriturismo dell'Arnano (Agriturismo is a luxurious farm stay away from the city)
We chose to book a Farm stay away from the city noise and stress.
15 km from Siena, in the town of Sovicille
This agriturismo cost us 324 euros for 3 guests for 7 nights for a total of 15.5 Euros pp per night. That's insane!
3)Siena and it's Palio horse race
Siena is a city in Tuscany, Italy.
The historic centre of Siena has been declared by UNESCO a World Heritage Site.
It is one of the nation's most visited tourist attractions. Siena is famous for its cuisine, art, museums, medieval cityscape and the Palio Horse race.
According to local legend, Siena was founded by Senius and Aschius, two sons of Remus and thus nephews of Romulus, after whom Rome was named.
Supposedly after their father's assassination by Romulus, they fled Rome, taking the statue of the she-wolf suckling the infants (Capitoline Wolf), thus appropriating that symbol for the town.
The Palio di Siena is a horse race that is held twice each year, on 2 July and 16 August, in Siena, Italy. Ten horses and riders, bareback and dressed in the appropriate colours, represent ten of the seventeen contrade, or city wards.
4)Monteriggioni
Monteriggioni is a comune in the province of Siena in the Italian region Tuscany. The town hosts several piazzas and is referenced in Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy. Strategically positioned outpost later fortified to be the first line of defense against the enemy neighbor Florence.
5)La Speranza Restaurant
By far my favorite restaurant for its price and it's quality. Few tourists know about this place, mainly attended by local farmers, hunters, police officers, fire brigade, etc.
6)Castles around our farm stay ( Str. della Villa, 7, 53035 Monteriggioni Loc. La Villa SI, Italy)
If you go to Tuscany you'll find castles scattered all over the place just like these ones. This one is B&B “la torre della signoria”. Within walking distance is another castle called Castello della Chiocciola, named after it's spiral staircase.
7)Castellina in Chianti
Castellina in Chianti is a municipality of 2,800 inhabitants, located about 15 kilometres northwest of Siena. It is part of the Chianti Hills.
The first settlements date from the Etruscan age.
The city has roman and medieval details.
8)Cecchi Wine Tour
Pay a visit and enjoy:
-A wine tour of the vineyards and line of production executed by a professional master sommelier
-Wine tasting of 2 flagship wines and 3 premium signature wines
-Coupling of wine with food (aperitivo with locally cured meat and bruschetta)
-Olive oil tasting

Traveling in Tuscany: The Best Wine Tasting & Wine Tours - Wine Oh TV
Wine Oh TV's Monique Soltani is Traveling in Tuscany and shows us the Best Wine Tasting and Wine Tours in the Italian Wine Region.
This is the second video of a three part video series I'm producing which highlights my recent trip to Tuscany. In my first video, Traveling in Tuscany: Uncorking Chianti Classico, we learned what Chianti Classico IS. Now it's time to introduce you to some of the amazing men and women behind the bottle. Traveling in Tuscany: Wine Tasting & Tours gets up close and personal with the kings and queens of wine country who roll out the ruby red wine carpet in our honor.
If the royal treatment wets your appetite, then meeting the Marquis of Tuscany should make you salivate. We get a taste of their intoxicating blends as we hold court at the new Marchesi Antinori Chianti Classico Cellar, go off-roading at Castello d'Albola and wine with Conte Sebastiano Capponi of Villa Calcinaia and Francesco Mazzei of Marchesi Mazzei.

Tuscany: a travel documentary
#Tuscany #Travel #Documentary
We are in the heart of Tuscany. We got only 3 days to visit the area around Siena: Volterra, San Gimignano, Monteriggioni and the Chianti hills. Despite it's Spring time, it's raining a lot.
We start from Volterra. Originally an Etruscan city, it flourished in the Middle Age before being ruled by Florence.
Then we move to Monteriggioni, a small stopping point for the pilgrims on the via Francigena. The medieval highway that was connecting Canterbury with Rome
When we reach San Gimignano is pouring rain. The town is called the Manhattan of the middle age, for the numerous towers that characterise its skyline.
Siena is the the main centre in the area, and compared to the other small towns, it looks like a metropolitan city. In Piazza del Campo we admire the arena where twice a year the famous Palio is held. The Cathedral is equally beautiful with rich marbles and great paintings.
On the last day we got a truce from the rain, and with a bit of Sun shining, we run through the Chianti hills, stopping at a local winery to taste the famous local products.
It is incredible the concentration of castles, churches, and medieval towns that still survive intact in Tuscany. In 3 days, we only could get a taste of it.
