Scuba diving : Deep dive (43m) on Ustica, Sicily, Italy
August 2019, 3rd, in the morning, we did a dive in Sicily, on Ustica's island. This place is a paradise for divers, lost in the mediterranean sea, 63 kilometers north from Palermo.
This dive was a deep one -43 meters at maximum- on Punta Faconiera, near the Harbour of Ustica. That was our second time on this site, and seeing it from deeper was great ! The visibility was great, about 25 meters, with huge falling rocks. We've seen groupers, various crustaceans and molluscs, morays and sea hare.

August 2019, 1st, in the afternoon, we did a dive in Sicily, on Ustica's island. This place is a paradise for divers, lost in the mediterranean sea, 63 kilometers north from Palermo.
This dive is called Scoglio del Medico, in the north-west of the Island. That was our second time on scoglio, and I must say that it was one of my most incredible dive ! The subaquatic canyons were full of huge groupers, various crustaceans and molluscs, amberjack, barracudas and sea hare.

Night dive : Ustica, Sicily, Italy
August 2019, 2nd, in the night, we did a dive in Sicily, on Ustica's island. This place is a paradise for divers, lost in the mediterranean sea, 63 kilometers north from Palermo.
This dive is called Punta Falconiera, near the harbour, at the foot of island's lighthouse. The subaquatic life is full of groupers, various crustaceans and molluscs, moray, stars.

Scuba diving : Cavern dive on Ustica, Sicily, Italy - Grotta della Pastizza
August 2019, 4th, in the afternoon, we did a dive in Sicily, on Ustica's island. This place is a paradise for divers, lost in the mediterranean sea, 63 kilometers north from Palermo.
This dive is called Grotta della Pastizza, near Grotta Verde in the south of the Island. This cavern is around 8 meters. Inside, there is a statue of San Bartholomeo, built here to protect Ustica. It's easy to access. Before to go, we did a walk, and we've seen pieces of old roman amphoras, and a syngnathus.

Scuba diving : dive on Ustica, Sicily, Italy - Secca della Colombara
August 2019, 5th, we did two dives in Sicily, on Ustica's island. This place is a paradise for divers, lost in the mediterranean sea, 63 kilometers north from Palermo.
This place is called Secca della Colombara, which is the one of the most famous dives in Mediterranean Sea. It starts at 3 meters under the surface and then goes deeper. This dive' spot has an incredible geology, with big and straight walls, and a very, very abounding wildlife - with huge groups of groupers and barracudas.
It's also possible to see a ship wreck of a boat which has sunk in 2005, and its cargo: big blocks of granit, still laying on the rocks, fifteen years after the drama.
This is an incredible place to dive.

Scuba diving : Cavern dive on Ustica, Sicily, Italy - Grotta dell'altare
August 2019, 4th, in the morning, we did a dive in Sicily, on Ustica's island. This place is a paradise for divers, lost in the mediterranean sea, 63 kilometers north from Palermo.
This dive is called Grotta dell'altare, near Grotta Verde in the south of the Island. This cavern is around 25 meters. Going inside is difficult because the opening is around 1 meter, and the bottom is full of vase: a wrong movement could blur all the visibility. It's full of shrimps, an endemic species of Ustica, orange and blue (blue part are eggs). Going there, we've seen groupers, various crustaceans and molluscs, as a fireworm.

Scuba Diving : Ustica, Sicily, Italy - Punta Falconiera
July 2019, 31st, in the afternoon, we did a dive in Sicily, on the island of Ustica. This place is a paradise for divers, lost in the mediterranean sea, 63 kilometers north from Palermo. It's the first protected marine area, since 1986.
This dive is called Punta Falconiera, in the south east of the island, not so far of the Ustica's harbour. Under the surface, walls run slowly into the deep, and are full of wild life typical from rocks : groupers, molluscs, morays... We were at 35 meters at maximum.

Pływałam z maską i fajką tuż przy brzegu wyspy. To są zdjęcia amatorskie, bardzo niedoskonałe. Ustica to raj dla nurków i dla snorkelingu, dno morskie jest niezwykle żyzne i pełne cudów nawet kilkanaście centymetrów pod powierzchnią wody.

Ustica, the Diamond years is a documentary by Stefano and Mathia Coco, which tells the relationship between baseball and the island of Ustica through the testimonies of protagonists and members of Ustica’s community.
La straordinaria storia di una piccola isola siciliana chiamata l'Isola del Baseball!
Ustica, gli anni del diamante è un documentario di Stefano e Mathia Coco che racconta il legame tra lo sport del baseball e l’isola di Ustica attraverso le testimonianze dei protagonisti e della comunità usticese.
Between 1971 and 2005 on a small sicilian island in the Mediterrean sea, north of Palermo, an extraordinary phenomenon developed. In just over 30 years, a surprising parabola of the locally known “Hit and Run” game took place, which is more widely known as baseball.
In the peak of this event, during the 90s, the small island of about a thousand inhabitants hosted two sport teams: Ustica Baseball Club and Ustica Softball Club, both at their respective national levels.
A sporting and social ferment that led, among the ranks of the Italian softball national team, a Ustica’s athlete at the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
Throughout the years, this phenomenon attracted the interest of journalists, baseball professionals and enthusiasts, which made Ustica famous as the Island of the Baseball.
Tra il 1971 e il 2005 sulla piccola isola di Ustica, nel mar Mediterraneo a nord di Palermo, si è sviluppato un fenomeno straordinario.
In poco più di 30 anni ha avuto luogo la parabola sorprendente del batti-e-corri, denominazione nostrana del più conosciuto baseball.
All’apice del successo, durante gli anni ’90, la piccola isola di circa mille abitanti ospitava due società sportive: l’Ustica Baseball Club e l’Ustica Softball Club, entrambe nelle massime serie nazionali.
Un fermento sportivo e sociale che ha portato, tra le fila della nazionale di softball, un’atleta usticese alle Olimpiadi di Sydney 2000.
Durante gli anni del diamante l’interesse di giornalisti, professionisti e amanti della disciplina ha reso Ustica famosa come l’Isola del Baseball.
