Interview With Kid Ski Jumpers! - Guided Tour Around Utah Olympic Park - Park City, Utah
Home of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, the Utah Olympic Park now hosts a large variety of sport training activities. We were able to see athletes in training on the water ramp, and Josiah interviewed two girls who were just learning to ski jump! We also took the hour long guided tour around the complex to see the ski jumps and bobsled track. It was impressive to see the facility, and to hear how it is used today. Different activities (such as zooming down the bobsled track) are offered at the Utah Olympic Park during the different seasons. Be sure to check their website for a current schedule.

Utah Olympic Park
In this episode of Cheap Family Travel ( Nick Regan, Maggie, and Kate visited the Utah Olympic Park in Park City, Utah. If you enjoy the Winter Olympics, a great place for an exciting vacation is the Utah Olympic Park in Park City, Utah, the site of many events in the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics. The highlight of our Park City stay was our visit to the Olympic Park, where we went on an Olympic Park tour of the ski jumps, bobsled track, and the Olympic Training Center. The United States Olympic Committee created the Training Center, with practice ski jumps that land in a swimming pool. Bobby Brown, gold medalist in the X Games, and Dylan Ferguson were training, and Nick Garner of SportsTalk4Kids caught up with them to see how their training was going. Brown and Ferguson were practicing ski jumps and freestyle aerials, and others were learning fundamentals and new tricks on a trampoline and a short ramp into the pool, before heading up to the Olympic-sized jumps. The Park City Olympic Park and Lake Placid, NY, are the only winter training centers in the United States. The Olympic Park is a highlight of Park City tourism, and things don't slow down during a Park City summer.
Andy Phillips vs the Utah Olympic Park
Andy Phillips takes a ride on some of the most thrilling activities at the Utah Olympic Park in Park City. Watch as he tests his mettle on the Extreme Zip Line and ski-jump tube slide. Plus, he gets in touch with his inner stuntman on the airbag drops.

Training Begins on New Big Air Jumps - Utah Olympic Park
PARK CITY, UT (June 23, 2015) – After nine months of construction, athletes took their first jumps into the new Spence Eccles Olympic Freestyle Pool at the Utah Olympic Park (UOP) on Monday, June 22. A grand opening celebration for the newly renovated facility will be held on Saturday, June 27. The event will include a special evening performance by the Flying Ace All-Stars, who will preform choreographed acrobatics on the jumps.
Originally built in 1992, the water ramps at the UOP are one of the most heavily utilized training facilities of Utah's Olympic Legacy Foundation venues. The new pool features seven ramps designed specifically for aerials, moguls, freeskiing, snowboarding and big air. The pool itself was also expanded from 750,000 gallons to just over a million to accommodate the new jumps.

“I don’t even know how to describe how awesome this is,” said U.S. Freestyle Ski Team aerialist and World Cup champion Mac Bohonnon after taking the inaugural first jump. “We’ve been anticipating this since October 1 when they started tearing all the old jumps down. To take the first jumps with our whole team here is so much fun. The jumps are awesome. We couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.”
In partnership with the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA), the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation (UOLF) launched its “Project Big Air” campaign in 2014 to fund the expansion and renovation. U.S. Ski Team alum and philanthropist Spencer F. Eccles also contributed a $1 million challenge grant that jump-started the project’s successful campaign.
“With over 200 donors, making this project a reality was truly a team effort,” said UOLF President and CEO Colin Hilton. “This renovation really exemplifies the community support for winter athletics and our organization’s mission to ensure long term viability and relevance of Utah’s Olympic Legacy efforts.”
Utah Olympic Park Trail Park City Utah
A video tour of a newer Park City trail by the Utah Olympic Park. I have found this to be a fun single track trail for beginners. The trail is in great shape and offers some fun switch backs that are easy and great to practice how to ride them. The loop I enjoy is about 2.5 miles just below the Utah Olympic Park. It is a great place for a convenient hike as well. The trail is also near the Kimball Junction Area.

EXTREME TUBING at Olympic Park in Park City, UT
Check out all the amazing extreme activities at Olympic Park in Park City, Utah. This is my experience doing the extreme tubing down the K64 and K90 ski jumps.
Check out all the extreme activities Olympic Park offers here:
I went on a beautiful Saturday at 1pm and only waited about 15 minutes for each ride. Skip the lift hill and hike up - it'll save you about an hour per ride.
In case you're wondering, you start at the top of the landing hill, so you start below the actual jump. K64 and K90 refer to the distance (in meters) from the jump (our starting point) to that horizontal red line - 64 meters or 90 meters from the jump, respectively - the spot where skiers are anticipated to land.
The first one (K64) is fun. But the K90 is substantially more exciting. It's a lot faster. You can probably tell by my reaction after each ride. So if you go, definitely do the K90 as your second ride.

Extreme Tubing at the Utah Olympic Park
Introducing a totally new experience at Utah Olympic Park. Take a ride down the landing hill of a Nordic Ski Jump … in an inner tube! Gain speeds up to 50 mph and enjoy the thrill of soaring just like an Olympic Nordic ski jumper. (These are the same ski jumps that the today's Olympic-level athletes train on!)
Extreme Tubing will take place on two Nordic Ski Jumps - the K64 (smaller hill) or K90 (larger hill). The landing hill where your ride starts is constructed from a start-of-the-art plastic surface that slides just like snow when wet.
Please Note: Participants must ride the K64 Nordic ski jump before progressing to the K90.
Trailhead: Park City Olympic Park
There are only two places in the United States that have Luge Tracks. Park City Utah is one of the two. At The Utah Olympic Park, home to many of the 2002 Winter Olympic events, luge athletes are competing in the 5th stop of the Jr. World Cup. Winners will go onto the championships, and possibly after that the 2010 Olympic Games. 70 athletes from 11 country push off from the start to get the best time, with only a few thousandths of a second separating the winners from the losers. In a competition this heated it's surprising to see them working in such frigid conditions...
RED BULL 400 UTAH OLYMPIC PARK
Red Bull 400 makes its inaugural debut in the United States on September 26, 2015 at the Utah Olympic Park in Park City. Running 400m doesn't sound like much of a challenge, does it? Park City adds the unique obstacle of elevation, 6,870ft at the start, making this the highest altitude Red Bull 400 ever. This race is guaranteed to put your calves, quads and endurance to the test. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Olympic Parks' in-house cross country and ski jumping program: Park City Nordic Ski Club.
Park City - Utah
Park City is a city in Summit County, Utah, United States. It is considered to be part of the Wasatch Back. The city is 32 miles (51 km) southeast of downtown Salt Lake City and 19.88 miles (31.99 km) from Salt Lake City's east edge of Sugar House along Interstate 80. The population was 7,558 at the 2010 census. On average, the tourist population greatly exceeds the number of permanent residents.
After a population decline following the shutdown of the area's mining industry, the city rebounded during the 1980s and 1990s through an expansion of its tourism business. The city currently brings in a yearly average of $529,800,000 to the Utah Economy as a tourist hot spot, $80,000,000 of which is attributed to the Sundance Film Festival. [4] The city has two major ski resorts: Deer Valley Resort and Park City Mountain Resort. Both ski resorts were the major locations for ski and snowboarding events at the 2002 Winter Olympics. Although they receive less snow and have a shorter ski season than do their counterparts in Salt Lake County, such as Snowbird resort, they are much easier to access.
Additionally the city is the main location of the United States' largest independent film festival, the Sundance Film Festival, home of the United States Ski Team, training center for members of the Australian Freestyle Ski Team, the largest collection of factory outlet stores in northern Utah, the 2002 Olympic bobsled/skeleton/luge track at the Utah Olympic Park, and golf courses. Some scenes from 1994's Dumb and Dumber were shot in the city. Outdoor-oriented businesses such as backcountry.com, Rossignol USA, and Skullcandy have their headquarters in Park City. The city has many retailers, clubs, bars, and restaurants, and has nearby reservoirs, hot springs, forests, and hiking and biking trails.
In the summertime many valley residents of the Wasatch Front visit the town to escape high temperatures. Park City is usually 20 °F (11 °C) cooler than Salt Lake City,[citation needed] as it lies mostly above 7,000 feet (2,100 m) above sea level, while Salt Lake City is situated at an altitude of about 4,300 feet (1,300 m).
In 2008, Park City was named by Forbes Traveler Magazine among one of the 20 'prettiest towns' in the United States.[5] In 2011, the town was awarded a Gold-level Ride Center designation from the International Mountain Bicycling Association for its mountain bike trails, amenities and community.
