Saigon City Tour (Part 1: Guided Tour) | Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam | We.Are.Wanderful
On October 24 to 27, 2015 our family went to Ho Chi Minh City for our first Vietnam tour.
The bulk of our trip (2.5 days) was spent touring Ho Chi Minh City, which also still goes by its old name, Saigon.
On our very first day in Saigon we arranged for a guided city tour. I booked us online via opting for the PRT Lotus – Ho Chi Minh City Full Day on the website.
At 8:00am sharp our Roadstour-assigned guide, Lucy, was waiting for us at the lobby of our hotel.
For the morning part of our tour she brought us to some of the most historically relevant landmarks and tourist destinations in Saigon, including the Reunification Palace, the War Remnants Museum, Notre Dame Cathedral Saigon, Saigon Post Office, and the Saigon Opera House.
Our city tour included lunch and Lucy made us choose between a Chinese-style all-you-can-eat restaurant and an authentic Vietnamese noodle house. Of course we wanted to try authentic Vietnamese food so we opt for the latter. She brought us then to Pho 24 in downtown Saigon. We are of course familiar with Pho 24 as it has outlets in Metro Manila. We've always enjoyed the food in Pho 24 in M. Manila but we've enjoyed it much much more in Saigon.
In the afternoon Lucy accompanied us to visit a couple of temples and then we proceeded to the Saigon Chinese Market.
We ended our guided city tour at another popular market in Saigon—the Ben Thanh Market, where we had the opportunity to do some shopping, Divisoria-style.
All in all it was a tiring but satisfying tour of Saigon and we retired to our hotel for our first full night in Vietnam happy and looking forward for more tours in the next 3 days.
This is a short slideshow of our guided city tour in Saigon.

[VN 11 Flight Review] Vietnam Airlines Ho Chi Minh to Paris CDG Charles de Gaulle Business Class
[Flight Review]
We fly from Ho Chi Minh City on Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport, VN11 Vietnam Airlines, in Business Class on board their Airbus A350. Our flight was scheduled for 2315hrs, but it was delayed till 2355hrs. Earlier that evening, we had flown in to Ho Chi Minh on Vietnam Airlines, also on an Airbus A350 aircraft, and we also spent a short time at the Lotus Lounge at HCMC airport, waiting for the VN 11 flight.
Boarding was smooth, though the passengers were visibly tired and somewhat irritated that the flight was delayed (due to late arrival of aircraft). I observed that most of the passengers in the Economy cabin were French speaking Europeans.
VN’s Airbus A350 Business Class is in a 1-2-1 Reverse Herringbone configuration, each seat with direct aisle access and can convert into a flat bed. We were given a warm towel and welcome drink upon boarding (I chose water melon juice). I noticed that the Business class cabin did not have overhead compartments in the center aisle. This gave the Biz class cabin a much roomier feeling, but the downside was that there was far less overhead space for premium passengers.
Menus were distributed. After take-off, supper would be served. Breakfast was would be served 2 hours before landing. The flight time was estimated 12hrs 50min, so this would be quite a long flight. VN is a member of SkyTeam alliance, so this flight was codeshare with Air France. Before take-off, the stewardess came to take our orders for supper. I chose the fish starter, and the beef main. The stewardess also offered me 2 types of Red wine, as per the menu. Originally, I misunderstood what she was trying to say (my bad). I finally got the message (2 types of Red Wine and not 2 types of wine) and chose the Shiraz over the Bordeaux. Our departure was around midnight.
The movie selection wasn’t great, but I could find some movies that I was interested to watch. The headphones provided were not good at all (e.g. no noise cancelling), but then again, for the fare we paid, I wouldn’t complain too much. The meal service was very good. Garlic bread was awesome. The starter was filling and the main also very substantial. Two large skewers of beef, with some cold noodles. Frankly, it was way past my meal time and I was very full from the previous flight, so I hardly ate. It was more like food tasting. After dinner service (which was fast and efficient), the stewardess provided a mattress, which made the seat much more comfortable.
I woke up halfway during the flight, having had a decent sleep of several hours. I asked for a Chivas Regal and something to eat. I was served with some open-faced sandwiches, which weren’t too bad. Very soon, it was 2 hours before landing and the cabin lights came on, as it was time for breakfast. The stewardess came around to take our breakfast orders, and I ordered their famous Vietnamese Pho noodles. It was all served on one tray, together with fresh fruit and some birchermuesli.
We landed just slightly behind schedule, so we weren’t that late even though the departure from Ho Chi Minh was almost an hour behind. At Paris CDG, we did have an aero-bridge, and had to take the airport bus to the terminal. Paris was 6 hours behind Vietnam time. Enjoy the video! Links to my Vietnam Airlines flight reviews below.

Food Vlog (6): Flying VIETNAM Airlines from Singapore to Ho Chi Minh city!!!
Whats up everybody!!! Here comes my new video from Gastrovel. As shown on my instagram post, this time we gonna fly to Ho Chi Minh City for local street food. Excited for that as i’m gonna explore more food that normally eaten by all the locals and is highly recommended as well.
We had departed for Ho Chi Minh city at 12.15am and arrived at Tan Son Nhat international’s airport at 1.05am vietnam time. Earlier than expected arriving time. We had a fair in-flight dining experience. Food was fair and slightly bland. After all is good and not so bad. Maybe they will have a tastier meal for day flight compare to night flight. haha…
The in-flight meal were:
Appetizer:
Barley served with pomegranate and sous vide cooked chicken
Main Course:
Stir fried vietnamese style noodles with deep fried fish
Dessert:
Pandan Pudding
Food rating:
3 out of 5
Check out my next videos for more vietnamese street food and i would say it was amazing, delicious and i was impressed with the locals of how they prepared the foods. I had experienced a good street food from vietnam. Thumbs up!!!

[Flight Review] Vietnam Airlines Airbus A350 Business Class SGN Ho Chi Minh to Singapore
We fly on Vietnam Airlines! This was the second leg of our flight, from SGN Ho Chi Minh back to Singapore. Earlier in the day, we flew from Seoul to Ho Chi Minh.
This leg was short, only about 1.5 hr flight time. The experience was good. We flew on a long-haul aircraft, the Airbus A350-900. This aircraft is used for VN’s long-haul routes, including Vietnam to Paris. Business class was in a 1-2-1 configuration, reverse herringbone, fully flat bed.
A substantial meal was served even though the flight was short. The entire meal came in one tray, which was fine given such a short flight. I chose the fish with rice. You can see from the video that the meal was very nice. The main dish was accompanied by a bowl of crunchy salad and a large chunks of fresh fruit. They even had a bread basket, where I chose the garlic bread. The meal was great with a glass of white wine.
I enjoyed my meal at a leisurely pace and was never rushed. After I finished my meal, there wasn’t much time left on the flight and the plane landed smoothly at Singapore Changi Airport. Vietnam Airlines uses Terminal 4.

[Flight Review] Vietnam Airlines Business class Airbus A350 Singapore to Ho Chi Minh Great Service!
We fly Vietnam Airlines in Business class! This flight is from Singapore to Ho Chi Minh, and we would fly onward to Paris CDG after a short layover. The flight departed from Changi Airport terminal 4. Prior to the flight, we had some food at the Blossom Lounge at T4, so we were all rather full.
The aircraft was parked at a remote stand, so from T4 gates we had to take a bus to the aircraft.
Even though the flight was short (about 1.5 hours), we were served with a nice meal on board. The stewardess gave me a choice of 3 mains. The food was not bad.
Thanks for watching!!

Vietnam Airlines Review: Dong Hoi to Ho Chi Minh City/Lotus Business Class Lounge
I was on a trip to Dong Hoi to support victims of the flood in 2016. After that, I flew back to Ho Chi Minh City from Dong Hoi local airport. The airport is small but tidy and clean. I really love the Lotus Business Class Lounge since it's spacious and comfortable. Although the service on this flight is limited but I enjoyed the flight.

VIETNAM OVERNIGHT TRAIN TO HANOI! Tour of Soft & Hard Sleeper
Travel by overnight sleeper train in Vietnam from Danang to Hanoi! I rode the 4-berth soft sleeper and toured the 6-berth hard sleeper near the end. Watch more Vietnam vlogs:

Hi family! Alright...so this overnight train ride to Hanoi was not the most pleasant for me; however, it is still a great way to travel Vietnam. Here are some things I'd recommend you doing if you are considering taking the sleeper train:
-DO bring food & snacks! No food cart rolled around during the entire 16 hour train ride. I kept trying to listen for the wheeling of the cart and even left my door open around dinner time. There was nothing. There was water and hot water though :) Cup o noodles team!
-DO bring jacket, scarf, or sarong that you can wear. It gets COLD at night especially as we get closer North. You can even lay them down if you're afraid of unclean bedsheets.
-DO check the door & lights in your room when you arrive in case there's some kind of malfunction. You may be able to ask the train staff (who come around sometimes) to switch to another one.
-DON'T talk super loudly and be mindful of other passengers in the room. A man ended up taking the berth next to me at 12am and was talking on the phone for a whole hour :/
-DON'T buy your tickets online if you can just get it at the station a few days earlier or even a day earlier! I met a couple of travellers who just showed up that day and booked. It is always cheaper way cheaper at the train station. OR ask your hotel staff to help you book it. Don't go to a tour agency - they'll charge you lots. I was traveling during TET so had no choice but to secure it online. If you're on last resort - check out 12go.asia (the site I use for train & ferry travel in Southeast Asia).
If you don't want to take a sleeper train but still want to experience it, take the Vietnam railway train from Hue to Danang or Danang to Hue. It is a 2.5 hour train ride with breathtaking views of Vietnam's coastline! You can just get a regular seat, no sleeper needed.
While this train ride didn't go so well for me, I know the experience is different for everyone. Take it or not, it's up to you :)! It IS way better than the overnight busses - or so I heard.
Thank you for tuning in! Hope this information helps you when traveling in Vietnam!

We were in Seoul for a holiday, and today we begin our trip back to Singapore on Vietnam Airlines, from Seoul to Ho Chi Minh and then onward to Singapore. We arrived at Incheon Airport, Seoul, in good time early in the morning. We wanted to get our tax refund, and after that, check-in was smooth though even at this time (around 0745hrs) the line to clear security was quite long.
After clearing security and immigration, we reached the restricted area of Incheon Airport, which was large and rather crowded. Signages weren't good and we couldn't find the KAL Lounge (which we were told by the check in lady that it was before the train ride to the Concourse), so we asked a member of staff and was told it was beside 'Starbooks'. Here is the review of the KAL Lounge, which was newly opened in June 2019. After getting some breakfast, we made our way to the concourse (had to ride a train) and got to Gate 111 in good time. Boarding hadn't started yet when we got there, so we waited for bit.
Once boarded started, we got on board quickly and found out seats. I had a window seat today. The aircraft used was a rather new Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner. Business class was in a reverse herringbone, 1-2-1 configuration.
Overall, service onboard was very good. Even though the flight was not very long (flight time under 5 hours), it felt like a long-haul flight with a nice amenity kit, pillow and blanket. Welcome drink, I chose champagne. After take off, meal service began.
It started with Amuse Boche, and again I chose champagne for my drink.
For the main meal, they had run out of the Western style appetizer, so I had no choice but to take the Korean-style appetizer, which was fine with me as it was interesting to look at and the taste was good. For the main, I chose the Asian style Beef rib with rice. The beef came in slices, which suited me fine. The taste was good, and the beef was tender enough.
After the main, there was dessert (ice-cream) and also cheese. The stewardess also came around with a tray of sliced fruit, which I chose a few. Overall, it was a wonderful meal, and I enjoyed it while watching a movie on the entertainment system.
Post-meal, I converted the seat into a lie-flat bed, and managed to get about 2 hours of sleep before it was time to land.
Good experience on Vietnam Airlines and I would fly with them again. Thanks for watching!
