The Complete Narration of Soldiers Walk Memorial Park in Arcadia Wisconsin
We have just completed the first complete video narrated tour of the amazing 54-acre park located in Arcadia, Wisconsin.
This video was recently aired on local PBS stations.
No visit to Wisconsin would be complete without a tour of the beautiful 54 acre Memorial Park and its unique tribute to veterans of all wars and conflicts located just 40 minutes North of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, in Arcadia, Wisconsin. It is the largest Memorial Park in the U.S., outside of Washington D.C.
On the landing page, you can take a drone's eye view of the park and listen to the narration of what this park is all about.
Stroll along the Avenue of Heroes, which is handicap accessible, to witness exceptional memorial statues of the fighting men and women who paid the supreme sacrifice for the freedom we enjoy today. The statue figures were designed by Ron Wanek, CEO of Ashley Furniture Industries, who is also the park's lead benefactor.
The Avenue of Heroes Walk is laid out in meters, with each meter representing one year. The Walkway covers 500 years from the establishment of Arcadia in 1848 until 2348. There are Memorial plaques noting events in the history of Arcadia.

What you see on this page is a small sampling of the tributes to this great country, and the men and women who fought for our freedoms.Soldiers Walk is the largest contiguous Memorial Park in the United States dedicated to our Veterans and all those have served since the Revolutionary War.
The park is 1/2 mile long and has 23 memorials with 42 statues depicting American conflicts throughout our history.
The park is funded completely by private donations. The people of Arcadia donate their time and services to maintain the park.
Each year tens of thousands of people visit the park and on the first weekend of every August, the park hosts Ashley For The Arts, drawing crowds of over 30,000 for this event alone.

Madison, the capital city of Wisconsin, lies west of Milwaukee. It’s known for the domed Wisconsin State Capitol, which sits on an isthmus between lakes Mendota and Monona. The Wisconsin Historical Museum documents the state’s immigrant and farming history. The city's paved Capital City State Trail runs past Monona Terrace, a lakefront convention center designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
Madison is located in the center of Dane County in south-central Wisconsin, 77 miles (124 km) west of Milwaukee and 122 miles (196 km) northwest of Chicago. The city completely surrounds the smaller Town of Madison, the City of Monona, and the villages of Maple Bluff and Shorewood Hills. Madison shares borders with its largest suburb, Sun Prairie, and three other suburbs, Middleton, McFarland, and Fitchburg. The city's boundaries also approach the city of Verona and the villages of Cottage Grove, DeForest, and Waunakee.
The city is sometimes described as The City of Four Lakes, comprising the four successive lakes of the Yahara River: Lake Mendota (Fourth Lake), Lake Monona (Third Lake), Lake Waubesa (Second Lake) and Lake Kegonsa (First Lake), although Waubesa and Kegonsa are not actually in Madison, but just south of it. A fifth smaller lake, Lake Wingra, is within the city as well; it is connected to the Yahara River chain by Wingra Creek. The Yahara flows into the Rock River, which flows into the Mississippi River. Downtown Madison is located on an isthmus between Lakes Mendota and Monona. The city's trademark of Lake, City, Lake reflects this geography.
Local identity varies throughout Madison, with over 120 officially recognized neighborhood associations, such as the east side Williamson-Marquette Neighborhood. Neighborhoods on and near the eastern part of the isthmus, some of the city's oldest, have the strongest sense of identity and are the most politically liberal. Historically, the north, east, and south sides were blue collar while the west side was white collar, and to a certain extent this remains true. Students dominate on the University of Wisconsin campus and to the east into downtown, while to its south and in Shorewood Hills on its west, faculty have been a major presence since those neighborhoods were originally developed. The turning point in Madison's development was the university's 1954 decision to develop its experimental farm on the western edge of town; since then, the city has grown substantially along suburban lines.

50th Reunion Washington High School - Milwaukee Class 1967
Washington High School is a magnet high school located in the Sherman Park neighborhood on the north side of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. It is one of the oldest schools in the Milwaukee Public Schools system. In 2011 WHS celebrated the 100th anniversary of its founding. WHS is noted for its successful uses of technology (especially computers) by teachers and students. In 1976 the first Career Specialty Program oriented around Computing opened a new era for Washington. The Business Advisory Board with its 20 members is a model for successful school-business collaboration for the support of students.
In September 2005 Washington was divided into three schools within a school, which are divided among the school's four floors. These are the School of Law, Education, and Public Service (LEAPS) (2nd floor), Washington High School of Expeditionary Learning (EL) (3rd floor), and Washington High School of Information Technology (4th floor). In June 2010, LEAPS closed and was combined with EL and was renamed Washington HS. The Washington HS of Information Technology which continues the legacy of the Career Specialty Program begun in 1976, has continued to operate.
In June 2011 the combined LEAPS and EL school was closed and merged into Washington HS of Information Technology thus creating a single Washington HS once again. Unfortunately this was announced as Washington HS is closing which is fortunately not the true situation since the legacy of WHS as a technology-oriented school continues unabated from 1976.
Washington's athletic teams are known as the Purgolders, named for the school's colors of purple and gold. It competes in the Milwaukee City Conference.

Birmingham is the largest city in the state of Alabama. With more than 1.2 million people in the metropolitan area, Birmingham is the cultural and economic heart of Alabama. In much of the world, Birmingham is best remembered as the site of racist violence, bombings, and nonviolent protest in the 1960s, when the city was still racially segregated by law. Visitors today are often surprised to find a pleasant green city of ridges and valleys, with many attractive views and friendly, hospitable people.
From its founding through the end of the 1960s, Birmingham was a primary industrial center of the southern United States. Its growth from 1881 through 1920 earned it nicknames such as The Magic City and The Pittsburgh of the South. Its major industries were iron and steel production. Major components of the railroad industry, rails and railroad cars, were manufactured in Birmingham. Since the 1860s, the two primary hubs of railroading in the Deep South have been Birmingham and Atlanta. The economy diversified in the latter half of the 20th century. Banking, telecommunications, transportation, electrical power transmission, medical care, college education, and insurance have become major economic activities. Birmingham ranks as one of the largest banking centers in the U.S. Also, it is among the most important business centers in the Southeast.
In higher education, Birmingham has been the location of the University of Alabama School of Medicine (formerly the Medical College of Alabama) and the University of Alabama School of Dentistry since 1947. In 1969 it gained the University of Alabama at Birmingham, one of three main campuses of the University of Alabama System. It is home to three private institutions: Samford University, Birmingham-Southern College, and Miles College. The Birmingham area has major colleges of medicine, dentistry, optometry, physical therapy, pharmacy, law, engineering, and nursing. The city has three of the state's five law schools: Cumberland School of Law, Birmingham School of Law, and Miles Law School. Birmingham is also the headquarters of the Southwestern Athletic Conference and the Southeastern Conference, one of the major U.S. collegiate athletic conferences.
Birmingham occupies Jones Valley, flanked by long parallel mountain ridges (tailing ends of the Appalachian Mountains) running from northeast to southwest. The valley is drained by small creeks (Village Creek, Valley Creek) which flow into the Black Warrior River. Milwaukee is a city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin on Lake Michigan's western shore. It's known for its breweries, many of which offer tours chronicling its role in the beer industry. Overlooking the Menomonee River, the Harley-Davidson Museum displays classic motorcycles, including one of Elvis Presley’s. Nearby is the Milwaukee Public Museum, with its large-scale European Village and a recreation of old Milwaukee.
Milwaukee has historically been a major immigrant city. During the early 20th Century, German and Polish immigrants tended to dominate, and the city still strongly identifies with its German and, to a slightly lesser extent, Polish heritage. For part of the early 20th century German was even the main language of the city, and German names are still very common.
Milwaukee is home to some instantly recognized corporations such as Miller Brewing and Harley Davidson. Harley holds an enormous celebration on every fifth anniversary during Labor Day weekend attracting riders (and celebrity riders such as Jay Leno) by the millions to Milwaukee each time. The 115th anniversary was held in 2018.
Here’s the thing about Milwaukee: it’s cool, but for some reason it slips under the radar. The city’s reputation as a working man's town of brewskis, bowling alleys and polka halls still persists. But attractions like the Calatrava-designed art museum, badass Harley-Davidson Museum and stylish eating and shopping enclaves have turned Wisconsin's largest city into an unassumingly groovy place. In summertime, festivals let loose with revelry by the lake almost every weekend. And where else on the planet will you see racing sausages?
Getting around in Milwaukee is easy. Block numbers are consistent across the city, including most of the suburbs, starting roughly where the Milwaukee and Menominee rivers meet. All numbered streets run north-south, increasing in number as you head west from 1st Street. Most named streets go east-west.

The F-16 Memorial At Soldiers Walk Memorial Park, located in Arcadia Wisconsin
To the left of General's Overlook you can't miss the F-16 that is mounted depicting its flight. The plane you are looking at is the first F-16 decommissioned by the USAF and was brought to the park with the help of a local area veteran, retired Colonel Ralph Haines, who is also depicted in the Pilot's Seat inside the memorial.
The General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin) F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engine multirole fighter aircraft originally developed by General Dynamics for the United States Air Force (USAF). Designed as an air superiority day fighter, it evolved into a successful all-weather multirole aircraft. Over 4,500 aircraft have been built since production was approved in 1976.
Highly nimble, the F-16 was the first fighter aircraft purpose-built to pull 9-g maneuvers and can reach a maximum speed of over Mach 2.
The F-16 has an internal M61 Vulcan cannon and 11 locations for mounting weapons and other mission equipment.
The F-16's official name is Fighting Falcon, but Viper is commonly used by its pilots, due to a perceived resemblance to a viper snake as well as the Battlestar Galactica Colonial Viperstarfighter.
