VIETNAM’S LARGEST MARKET - Ben Thanh Market Ho Chi Minh City - Cheap Shopping in Vietnam
We visited Vietnam’s largest market, the Ben Thanh Market in Ho Chi Minh City! This is where you can find the best cheap shopping in Vietnam. Think fake bags, cheap clothing, Vietnamese food, and incredible souvenirs all located within the Bến Thành Market. We show you the day market and the night market in Vietnam so you can make the best decision of which to visit.
The Ben Thanh Market in Saigon is the one of the largest and oldest Vietnam Markets. With over 3,000 vendors, Bến Thành is one of the best things to do in Saigon. You can find some of the best cheap shopping in Vietnam here all for incredible prices. The quality of the goods in this market are great and haggling is a must while you’re here! If you want to relax and avoid the bargaining, you can stay to the fixed pricing sections along the outer walls of Ben Thanh.
As far as a fake market in Vietnam is concerned, I would say you can find the highest quality knockoff goods here for the best prices. There are many markets in Saigon, but Ben Thanh is the biggest and most centrally located out of all. It is also the market that is most geared towards tourists so make sure you bring your best bargaining skills.
Vietnams largest market, also referred to as Cho Ben Thanh, is located in district 1 Ho Chi Minh city. You can find everything you need in district 1 including food, drinks, Vietnamese culture and more. After visiting Ben Thanh Market, you might want to hang around district 1 Saigon and wait for the Ben Thanh night market to kick off around 8pm.
Cho Ben Thanh is easily the top night market in Vietnam, particularly in Ho Chi Minh City. We enjoyed the night market in Saigon a little bit better than the day market because there was space to move around. However, both markets sell very similar items. If you’re looking for things to do in Saigon, we highly recommend both the Ben Thanh Market and the Ben Thanh Night Market.

#2 Ho Chi Minh City Fabric Market & Tailor-호치민 직물 시장와 맞춤 옷 만들기-미남의 삼겹살이-Big E's Multi-Layered Life
It's something I've been wanting to do for 3 years: go to the fabric market, buy fabric, and get clothes made. I've made 2 shirts, but this time it is for real!
2 weeks before we leave Vietnam, it must be done! Dai Huong Tailor in District 1 and Tan Dinh Market, here we come.

- Silk 99 Saigon , Restaurants, Vietnam
Few places in Saigon evoke the mistique that the city's name stirs up in the imagination. From the moment you walk into Silk 99 Saigon, it feels like you have entered the imaginarium itself. The entrance alone could be straight out of a Stanley Kubrick film...follow the rolled out carpet through long entryway, and you'll be welcomed either downstairs to the bar, or take the dramatic staircase up to the restaurant. Silk 99 Saigon is a labrynth waiting to be explored.
Small group parties can reserve one of the private rooms, aptly named by color~ for example, the Emerald room. The main dining rooms are equally impressive, with tables decked out in perfectly pieced dining sets with Cantonese classic designs. The lounge at the back of Silk 99 Saigon is an experience in itself~ high pitched celiings, open terrace seating and ultra-tall wall arts and vine-covered walls create an artistic jungle, decadent scene for enjoying cocktails and socializing.

Street Walk in Vietnam's Famous Markets // Ho Chi Minh City Part- 6
Famous Street Walk in Vietnam Famous Market
The marketplaces of Vietnam are an Aladdin’s cave of delights just waiting to be explored. Whether you’re seeking for sumptuous sweets, silky fabrics or home-grown tobacco, there’s really nothing you won’t be able to find. Here is your go-to guide to the best marketplaces of Ho Chi Minh City.
This emblematic market of Ho Chi Minh City is one of the oldest and also the most famous in all of Vietnam. Ben Thanh Market has been operational since 1914, and has gone through various changes over time, having witnessed the city’s ups and downs through the last century. Not merely a venue for the daily buying and selling of goods, Ben Thanh Market also serves as a landmark, a rendezvous point, and a background for beautiful photo-ops, especially at the south gate with the clock facade that has not been changed since.
Over at Ben Thanh Market, you can buy virtually anything — from clothing, footwear and textiles to electronics, household items, art, jewellery, souvenirs and food — fresh and packaged! Take your time wandering through the maze of colourful stalls, but try not to touch everything — it’s far too tempting. Touching something would indicate to the vendor that you are interested in buying, so expect prices to be shouted at you in almost perfect English! The prices are of course elevated as this is a rather touristy spot, so get your bargaining skills ready.
The market is best seen during the early hours of the day — it’s quieter and less stressful, and vendors are much less annoyed. Ben Thanh Market closes its doors around 06.00 p.m. and soon after, the night markets at the East, West and North gates simultaneously open.

Binh Tay Market
Binh Tay Market, located in Chinatown, is the busiest commercial centre in all of Ho Chi Minh City, and also one of the oldest markets in the city. Its beautiful exterior features an exotic mix of French, oriental Chinese and Vietnamese architecture, with a large, yellow-tiled roof as well as colourful and historical motifs adorning the entrances and exits. Thanks to its stunning design, it has been featured in several movies.
The majority of wholesale goods transported from Southwest (Mekong Delta) provinces are brought here, and you will find a plethora of messy, winding stores offering colourful products within its walls. Vietnamese candied fruits, vibrant cloths, nuts, other handmade goods, household and electronic items — these are all sold for affordable prices.
At the back of the market, you will find a bunch of restaurants enticing customers with authentic and tasty Vietnamese cuisine. You can easily make a day out of exploring the market and Chinatown region — there are plenty of foods to try, temples to visit and alleys to photograph..
Soai Kinh Lam Fabric Market
If you are looking to get something tailored while in Ho Chi Minh City but are not looking to pay premium prices for fabrics displayed at tailor stores or if their range of fabrics is not wide enough for you to fall in love with a pattern, then head over to Soai Kinh Lam Fabric Market. It is jam packed with over 500 large and small cloth stalls, where you can acquire the latest fashions sold at extremely affordable prices.
A special feature of the market is that each stall sells only one type of fabric but in different colours and textures, which will certainly make your browsing experience less overwhelming and more organised. You can get any kind of cloth here, from spandex, chiffon, velvet, cotton, khaki to fabrics for curtains, sheets, cushions or tablecloths. Since you’re in Vietnam, why not get a beautiful ao dai, the elegant national costume of Vietnam, made? The bestselling items here after all are the fabrics used for making ao dai, such as satin, silk and brocade
Ho Thi Ky Flower Market
Ho Thi Ky is the largest wholesale flower market supplying flowers for the whole region. The flowers found here come mainly from Da Lat (a beautiful mountainous city in the Central Highlands of Vietnam), and the Mekong Delta (a vast maze of rivers and rice paddies in the southwest of Vietnam). Some flowers are even imported from other countries such as Cambodia.
The market is incredibly colourful, like a giant garden or even a miniature flower forest. You will find lilies, roses, orchids, daisies, lotuses, hydrangeas, and so on, surrounding all four corners of the market. During Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year), this market gets even more lively. Inside is also a small Cambodian market, which is great if you want to take a break and try some food or a refreshing snack. Try Che Co Co, a stall that sells delicious Cambodian sweet soup. From Ho Thi Ky you can also easily go to Chinatown.

Ho Chi Minh City On Your Own (Saigon), Vietnam - What to do on Your Day in Port
This is a tour we purchased while onboard the Majestic Princess. We were on the 21 day Silk Road Journey maiden voyage. This was an 'On Your Own' tour where you get on a bus and they drop you in a city to wander on your own for a few hours. We paid $80 US each. We boarded a bus at the port city of Phu My, Vietnam and drove for about an hour and a half (each way) to Ho Chi Minh City, which used to be called Saigon. They dropped us of at the Bitexco Financial Tower. We met back there 3 1/2 hours later. We caught a cab to Ngoc Hoang Pagoda, which is widely known as the Jade Emperor Palace. After walking around there for a while we caught another cab to Chợ Bến Thành aka: Ben Thanh Market. It is a large shopping mall full of individual vendors selling everything. The cab rides were $6 and $5 respectively. The vietnamese currency is the Dong. It is about $1 US = 23,000 Dong.
After the market we strolled towards the Bitexco Financial Tower. Walking in town is an exciting experience. Pedestrians don't seem to have the right of way. On the way to the Tower we detoured down a street with a Farmer's Market going on. They had all kinds of fresh food there, including live crabs and snails.
Once we got to the tower we found out that the bar on the 52nd floor had a happy hour, and great views of the city. The observation deck, on the 49th floor, is $9 US p/p. We had a pitcher of the local beer, Tiger, and some garlic bread for about $6 US.
When we got ready to re-board the buses there was a little confusion. There were so many buses it took some time to find ours. Plus, it started pouring rain as we waited.
Ho Chi Minh City is is bustling town and very exciting to visit.

ABOUT ME
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi there!
I am Anissa Syifa Adriana, otherwise known as Syifa. I am a conversation connoisseur, Indonesian female solo traveler and make-up enthusiast. I started my first solo traveling in June 2014, a coincidence trip, where it was intended for someone I was very close to in the past. I never regret deciding to go because after that, I never look back.
I decided to leave Indonesia since August 2016, to do a long-term traveling. After being on the road for about 5 months, in January 2017 I was offered to teach English in Yinchuan, Northwest China. Instead of going back home, at that time I went straight to China from Vietnam carrying only the remaining USD 300 that I had in my bank account. Arrived in China for the first time, everything felt so intimidating and foreign at the same time. Since then, I was based in Yinchuan, Northwest China and had been loving it.
As of now, I am back on the road again to travel and make videos on Youtube. Thank you again for watching! I hope you get to enjoy the video as much as I am making it.
Let's keep it positive. Don't forget to like, share, comment and subscribe :)

Please be careful in Ho Chi Minh City, especially the Bui Vien strip. It's known to be very chaotic and tourists are easy targets for pick pocketing and theft. We experienced this first hand! STAY SAFE!

Avanti Hotel Saigon Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City)
My stay at Avanti Hotel Saigon Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City) on 19th Dec to 21th Dec was awesome. Its was nice to have high floor due to request. The room was small but clean. Room cleaning is done every day. The view was awesome & its facing Ben Thanh Market. During the night the view of the night market was the best. Its noisy but I'm ok with it. Overall my stay at Avanti Hotel was the best experience.
