23 Things To Do In Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) Vietnam
►Read 23 Things to do in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam:
►FREE eBook:
When I was in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), along with eating as much Vietnamese food as I could, one of my goals was to film a travel video about some of the best things to do in Saigon. After putting together a complete list, it turned out to be 23, and I hope this list of attractions will help and inspire you to visit Vietnam’s largest and most exciting city.
1. Binh Tay Market - Binh Tay Market is one of the largest wholesale distribution markets, and a perfect place to go if you’re looking to go shopping in Ho Chi Minh City.
2. Thien Hau Temple (Pagoda) - Located in Chinatown, in District 5, the temple is dedicated to Thien Hau and I really loved the sculptures and the elaborate design of the temple.
3. Museum of Ho Chi Minh City - This museum offers a glimpse into the history and development of the city and Vietnam.
4. Bitexco Financial Tower - This is the tallest building in Saigon, and you can either go to the Skydeck or a cafe at the top for a view of the city.
5. Independence Palace (Reunification Palace) - Probably one of the most well known tourism things to do in Saigon is to visit the Independence Palace, the the former home of the president of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
6. Saigon Cathedral of Notre Dame - With the French influence in Vietnam, the Notre Dame cathedral is a beautiful Catholic church. Attend a service or just visit.
7. Central Post Office - Designed by Gustave Eiffel, the Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh City is an attraction mainly for its design and architecture. It’s a beautiful building.
8. War Remnants Museum - Although this is not one of the happiest attractions in Saigon, it’s a place to remember and honor the horrible events that are a result of a war.
9. Opera House - Right in Dong Khoi area, and there are still opera shows available.
10. Dong Khoi Street - This is the height of high end shopping in Saigon.
11. Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens - The zoo itself is not too great, but the beauty of the Saigon zoo is the botanical gardens, and the lush gardens, and taking a break from the city.
12. FITO Museum (Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine) - I was quite impressed by the Vietnamese medicine private museum - very interactive and educational.
13. San Art Laboratory – If you love modern art, the San Art Laboratory is a great place to see and visit in Saigon.
14. Turtle Lake at Night - If you’re looking for some things to do at night in Saigon, head to Turtle Lake to chill out, relax, hang out with friends, and eat snacks.
15. Ben Thanh Market - One of the most famous things to do in Saigon District 1 is visit the Ben Thanh Market, one of the major central landmarks of the city.
16. Phu My Hung and Starlight Bridge - Located outside of central Ho Chi Minh City, Phu My Hung is a modern development, and a great place to walk around.
17. Water Puppet Show - Though originally from the north of Vietnam, water puppet shows are popular also in Saigon. I went to the Golden Dragon Water Puppet theater.
18. Museum of Vietnamese History - Probably one of the most extensive and important museum showing the history of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City.
19. Rooftop Bar - Seeing Saigon from above offers a great perspective.
20. Fine Arts Museum - This was my favorite of all the museums in Saigon. The museum is housed in a well preserved building, and the art is amazing - located right in District 1 across the roundabout from Ben Thanh Market.
21. Jade Emperor Pagoda - Dedicated to the Jade Emperor, the pagoda has a real ancient feel to it, and it’s worth seeing when you visit.
22. Local Wet Market - One of my favorite things to do is visit a local fresh wet market, which you’ll find all over the city. The ingredients, food, and culture, all stand out at fresh markets.
23. Vietnamese Street Food - By my ultimate favorite activity in Saigon is eating street food, and there are an abundance of delicious Vietnamese street foods to sample.
Thank you for watching this video about the top 23 things to do in Saigon, Vietnam. I hope it has given you some great ideas to help you plan your visit.

From the chaotic madness of scooters and pedestrians all trying to negotiating the streets at once to a sleepy afternoon spent slurping on a bowl of Pho, we tried our best to absorb as much of Saigon as we possibly could.
Some of the highlights included:
Visiting the War Remnants Museum
Exploring Thien Hau Pagoda
Checking out bustling Binh Tay Market
Stopping over at the Reunification Palace
Marveling at the Notre Dame Cathedral
Check out the General Post Office
From the hectic streets filled to the brim with scooters to the fascinating temples we've selected pictures that we feel best represents our time exploring this mega city.
As a launching pad and transportation hub, Saigon is a great place to explore outer areas such as the Mekong Delta and the Cu Chi tunnels.
We loved the combination of Vietnamese restaurants and popular expat eateries where we could alternate between having Vietnamese and Western favorites.
Although Saigon isn't the easiest city to negotiate on foot, it certainly makes for quite an experience trying first hand to cross a busy street where scooters and bikes literally weave in and out around you; although, it's scary once you get the hang of it - and walk like a local - by moving at a constant speed, you'll be doing it like a pro in no time.
Hopefully this series will inspire you to travel to Saigon to experience one of the grittiest yet rewarding large city in SE Asia:
Fasten your seatbelts as Ho Chi Minh City is a metropolis on the move -- and we're not just talking about the motorbikes that throng the streets. 1 day in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Tour!
We fly into Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon from SFO. A bustling transient city that doesn't sleep. We hired a local student to show us around the city.
If you only have one day in Ho Chi Minh City, make sure these attractions are on your itinerary. From lush parks, to bustling markets, to panoramic rooftop restaurants, get a taste of all the city has to offer with my one-day guide - Rachel H
This video gives you a one day guide of how to take on Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Some tips;
The US dollar is accepted in many places, but carry VD (Vietnamese Dong) just in case.
Tipping is not expected but appreciated for good service.
Street traffic is notoriously chaotic and doesn't stop for pedestrians. Be cautious, and when in doubt, follow the locals' lead.
Taxis are the go-to mode of transportation. Make sure the driver runs the meter — if the driver tries to negotiate, there's a risk you're getting ripped off.
Dress for heat and humidity, and pack lightweight rain gear if visiting during the rainy season (late spring to early fall).
Don’t be shy about haggling for bargains at the local markets.

MEKONG DELTA VIETNAM - Saigon Day Trip
We experienced local life along the Mekong Delta Vietnam for our last day in Saigon. We show you the best Saigon day trip that Vietnam has to offer, traveling by boat down the Mekong Delta and exploring a local Vietnam village along the way.
Our trip to the Mekong Delta Vietnam started with a 2 hour luxury van ride to a town called My Tho. Although we don’t normally take public tours, we arranged a small 6 person group tour with Vietnam Adventure Tours. Once we arrived in My Tho, we boarded a private boat to set sail down the Mekong Delta River. The 15 minute boat ride took us across the Mekong river to unicorn island where we explored a tourist area set up to mimic a traditional Vietnam Village. The activities on this island include: Bee Farm and Honey Tasting, Snake Holding, Coconut Candy Production, Chocolate Production, Snake Wine, and a Fruit Farm with traditional Mekong Delta music.
Next we got back on the Vietnam boat tour down the Mekong Delta to visit the area of Ben Tre. This is where we got to see a side of a more authentic Vietnam by boating down the river in a small sampan boat. This is one of the best things to do in Vietnam because you get to experience a world away from all development. We wish this part of the Mekong river tour was longer, as the small sampan boat ride was only 15 minutes long.
Next up on the Mekong Delta Tour was lunch which was included in our tour and very delicious. We were served a variety of Vietnamese food including fish, spring rolls, soup, rice, morning glory and prawns. The Vietnamese lunch was absolutely delicious!
When visiting Saigon Vietnam, we highly recommend you put a Mekong Delta Tour on your list of must do activities. Out of all the things to do in Saigon, this was one of our favorites! A quick 2 hour Saigon day trip away seems like a completely separate world apart from the hustle of Ho Chi Minh City.
If you’re interested in booking one of the best tours in Saigon, contact Vietnam Adventure Tours and request Van as your tour guide! The tour you see is the VIP Mekong Delta Tour with a luxury 7 person limo. Most Mekong tours start from $15 USD and go up to $80 USD for a public tour, and private tours are $80 USD per person and up. We hope you enjoyed our trip down the Vietnam Mekong Delta and if you have any questions please leave us a comment! We’d love to hear about your Vietnam travel or plans to visit the area.

Vietnam Travel Guide: Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Ho Chi Minh
Gorgeous beaches, fascinating and complicated history, incredible food, lush nature; Vietnam is a country that truly has it all. Whether this country is first or fiftieth on your list, our travel guide has all the information you need to know if you’re planning (or dreaming of planning!) a trip to Vietnam.
Leave your expectations behind if you’re heading to Vietnam: here, you’ll eat noodles for breakfast, do your shopping in the middle of the night, and discover a country with a new story around every corner.
Hanoi more than delivers on urban excitement. If you’re looking for unique and mouth-watering food, the night markets of the Vietnamese capital should be your very first stop. You can enjoy a zippy ride on a scooter, all the street-food you can eat, and a night exploring the rapid development of this modern city. From trendy clubs to traditional puppet shows, experience a nightlife that’s all Vietnam’s own, and eat and drink the night away with locals and visitors alike!
Of course, Vietnam isn’t all fast-paced cities and rooftop bars. For a slower pace, head to Ha Long Bay and sail alongside limestone islets, with their lush rainforests towering above your head. The water is emerald-green, matching the vibrant greenery, and a sailing excursion here is like nothing else you’ve experienced before! A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the islets of Ha Long Bay are said have been thrown into the bay by a dragon protecting the people of Vietnam. Take a junk boat tour for a close encounter, or try scuba diving or snorkelling in the bay!
You’ll find a new adventure around every corner in Vietnam. From breakfast in the Bình Tây Market and a secret tunnel system in Ho Chi Minh City, to sailing along the Mekong Delta in a traditional basket boat, you can find your perfect trip - no matter what that looks like - somewhere in Vietnam.
There’s no time like the present to start planning an adventure of your own in this majestic country, so why not start today? Head over to TourRadar to explore the range of tours available, or watch more of our videos exploring Vietnam if you still haven’t gotten enough of seeing the beautiful views and incredible adventures you could be having.
